DJ Membrain
Tap a star to rate
DJ Membrain is the stage name of Philipp Stalder, a DJ from Baselland who plays weddings, company parties, birthdays and club nights, with his focus on Basel, Baselland and northwest Switzerland and the rest of the country on request. His German-language site states over 15 years of experience as a wedding and event DJ, and it is built around a clear four-step booking process and a set of wedding video clips from venues in the region.
The wedding service
The wedding page covers the day from the aperitif to the party. Stalder lists what the music should do: let the reception start in a stylish, relaxed way, carry the emotional moments, give the couple's favorite songs their place, make the move into the party smooth, and build the party mood at the right time. He plans the running order with the couple around five stages: the entrance, the aperitif, the dinner, the opening dance and the party. The aim, in his words, is a common thread through the day.
He is clear that a wedding is not only about the music but about timing, feeling and the right moments. What the couple gets, according to the page, is experience with weddings and mixed audiences, a sure sense for emotion and dynamics, personal preparation and coordination, and reliable, professional delivery. The event page adds that he does not play a fixed set but builds it live around the crowd, reading the dance floor and adjusting as he goes.
On equipment, the home page promises modern gear for first-class sound and light. The cost page describes an optional lighting concept that can be added to the DJ service. He puts the lighting together to suit the venue, the room size, the number of guests and the effect the couple wants, from discreet ambient lighting to dynamic party lighting for the dance floor, and quotes it individually.
How booking works
The wedding page sets out 4 steps. The couple sends the main information about their wedding. Stalder then gets in touch by email or phone so they can get to know each other. The third step is planning and coordination: the running order, the music and the special moments, with a visit to the venue if the couple wants one. The fourth is the wedding day itself, which he covers from the reception to the party.
The contact page promises an answer within 48h and shows exactly what the enquiry form asks. It wants the event date and the DJ hours required (from and to), the name and address of the venue, and whether the venue already has equipment: a sound system, a lighting system, nothing, or unsure and wanting advice. It asks the occasion, the guest count in four bands (up to 50, 51 to 100, 100 to 200, more than 200), the music styles wanted (2000s, 90s, 80s, charts, house, Latino, EDM, Schlager, rock or open format) and whether to reply by phone, WhatsApp or email. For a couple abroad, WhatsApp and email are the practical routes. The phone number on the site is +41 79 742 98 66 and the email is info@djmembrain.ch.
Prices
The cost page does not give figures. Stalder sets his prices according to the type, length and scope of the event and the couple's own ideas, and promises that they are clear, easy to follow and free of hidden extras. He works out the price after the first conversation by phone or email. He also notes that he is self-employed and that all income is declared for tax, so clients can be sure everything is handled correctly. For a celebration outside the region, he offers to put together a tailored solution; the page does not say whether travel is charged separately.
References
The references page shows short video clips from four weddings: Delphine and Luca at Walzhalle Münchenstein, Nicole and Nico at La Famiglia Fluhberg, and Alina and Ralph and Melanie and Kilian, both at Bergwirtschaft Sissacherfluh. Company events include Knauf AG on the MS Christoph Merian and at a Christmas party at Schloss Bottmingen, the SRK blood donation service at Restaurant Schützenhaus Basel, a Spital Dornach staff party at Walzhalle Münchenstein and Streetfood Days in 2024 and 2025 for Firma Engel in Basel. Private and public nights include an 80s, 90s and 00s party at Altes Kraftwerk, birthdays at Restaurant Schmatz Basel and Blockhaus Zeiningen, masked balls in Anwil and Tecknau, and an anniversary party for SC Feldschlösschen in Rheinfelden. The home page also embeds his Google reviews.
For a couple scouting venues from abroad, the list doubles as a set of places in the Basel area where he has already played a wedding or party.
Outside weddings, the event page lists clubs, bar events, event series, city festivals, open airs and other public parties, from small to large. The home page adds Christmas parties, summer parties, anniversaries and business events for companies. That breadth matters mainly as experience with very different crowds, which is the skill he puts first on the event page.
What the site does not settle
The whole site is in German, and it says nothing about which languages Stalder works in. A couple who do not speak German should ask in their first message whether consultations and any announcements on the day can be in English or French.
The site publishes no prices, no minimum booking length and no deposit, payment or cancellation terms. It does not say whether he plays the ceremony itself; the wedding page describes the day from the reception and aperitif onward. It does not say what happens if he falls ill, whether a replacement DJ is arranged, or how far ahead a Saturday in high season tends to book up.
Who it suits
DJ Membrain suits couples marrying in Basel, Baselland or elsewhere in northwest Switzerland who want a DJ with a local track record, a structured planning process and the option to add lighting. The form's music options, from Schlager to EDM, and the emphasis on mixed audiences suit a guest list spanning generations. Couples getting married elsewhere in Switzerland can ask, since the home page offers the whole country on request. The caveats for couples from abroad are the German-only site and the absence of any price guide before the first conversation.
