Giovanni Bassano
Tap a star to rate
Giovanni Bassano is a singer and guitarist based in Switzerland who plays weddings, corporate events and private parties, and who also coordinates the wider event around the music. His site is written in English, with a German version, and opens with a simple pitch: "Your event deserves a soundtrack." The format ranges from Bassano alone with a guitar and a loop station up to a party band or a DJ, and the site says he travels across Switzerland.
The formats on offer
The "Live Music for Events" section lists seven set-ups, each with a line on where it fits:
- One Man Band: voice, guitar and loop station, described as ideal for ceremonies, receptions and dynamic party transitions.
- Duo (2 Vocals & 2 Guitars): two singers and two guitars for a warm, elegant and versatile atmosphere.
- Duo with Saxophone: for cocktail events, premium receptions and smooth party energy.
- Duo with Cello: strings and vocals for emotional highlights, ceremonies and more formal settings.
- Duo with Female Singer: a wider vocal range for romantic moments, duets and big party songs.
- Party Band: three or four musicians for dance-focused events, with a flexible line-up.
- DJ: a professional DJ set to carry the evening from dinner into late-night dancing.
For a wedding, that range means a couple can pick a quiet cello duo for the ceremony, the sax duo for the aperitif and the party band or DJ for the dance floor, and discuss combinations in one quote. The site says the sound can be fully tailored to the type of event, the audience and the setting, and that the repertoire is put together personally for each event. Several formats link to sample videos, and his YouTube section groups clips by line-up (two voices and two guitars, the one-man band, duo and trio with cello, duo with sax).
Event services beyond the music
Under "Event Services" the site promises one contact and one vision for the whole event, and lists six areas: live music and soundtrack design around the audience and the timeline; practical planning support before and during the event; catering coordination with trusted external partners; photo and video production with professional teams; sound system and lighting coordination for larger events; and on-site coordination whenever an experienced point of contact is needed. The catering and photo work is arranged with partners rather than done in-house.
The concept section explains the background. He writes that he has always been drawn to beautiful things and to sharing them, that connecting the right elements, talents and ideas has always been one of his strengths, and that "Over the years, I naturally became a point of contact between people and creative professionals." The stated aim is the success of each event "regardless of my role on stage".
The FAQ, in short
The FAQ answers the questions a couple planning from a distance usually asks first. The repertoire and mood can be customized to the event profile, the guest mix and the preferred atmosphere. The formats covered run from private dinners and weddings to corporate events, receptions and full party nights with live music or a DJ. Technical requirements are clarified in advance, and for larger events sound and lighting can be coordinated as part of the service. On travel: "Yes. Services are Switzerland-based and available for travel depending on date and logistics." And coordination with venues and partner suppliers is part of the process.
References and clients
The testimonials are mostly in English. Theresa and Marcel write that he made their wedding on August 30th a great experience, that "From the first contact to the last song played, he was absolutely professional and friendly", that "He even spontaneously played an extra set upon our request", and that guests talked about him for days. Erika Weiber describes booking him for a client's birthday in Zurich, where he arrived with a complete setup; Mix Max Music GmbH in Lucerne writes in German about a motivated, professional and warm team around him; Jacqueline Kuhn of Bernd Remmers Consultants in Zug writes that she could have danced for at least 2 more hours; Vilien D. Stanisic of Alpinum Investment Management praises his range and his handling of guest requests at a company event in a cabin in the woods; and another reviewer saw him at the Zug Fair. The clients list includes Volkswagen, Visana, Migros, Technorama, Young Boys, Alcon, Universität Zürich, Bulgari, Baloise, Mondelez International and Sensirion.
His own music is on the site too. He has released two albums: a self-titled CD with covers such as "Hallelujah", "Iris" and "With or without you" alongside his own songs, and "The things I never told you", all his own writing. He mentions playing on the streets, and sells the CDs for € 10 or CHF 12 plus shipping.
What the site does not settle
The site publishes no prices for any of the seven formats, no packages, and no deposit or cancellation terms. It does not name the other musicians in the duos and the party band, so couples should ask who plays with him. It does not say how long a set lasts, how many breaks a long wedding day needs, or whether travel is charged. The repertoire is described as tailored to each event, but no song list for weddings is published beyond the album track lists. The quote form asks for the kind of event, the location, the date and time, an email address and a phone number, with space for extra information; contact is also possible by phone on +41 79 758 35 44.
The site is in English and German and the reviews show him working with English-speaking clients; it does not say whether he sings in other languages, which couples with Italian, French or Spanish-speaking families may want to ask.
Who it suits
Giovanni Bassano suits couples anywhere in Switzerland who want live acoustic music with a singer, and who like the idea of scaling the line-up across the day: solo or cello for the ceremony, a duo for the aperitif and a band or DJ for the party. The event-services side is useful for couples planning from abroad who want one contact to line up caterers, photographers and sound. The caveats are the lack of published prices and the fact that the supporting musicians are not introduced on the site.
