Uptown Lights

Tap a star to rate

Uptown Lights is a cover band of 2 musicians, Ibe and Beves, who live in the Bern region and play weddings, parties and company events across Switzerland. Their Bern page offers live music for the wedding aperitif, the wedding dinner or the party, in "Pop, Soul & Rock n Roll. Feelgood Sounds." Another page says the pair bring over 20 years of professional experience, with performances in Switzerland, Great Britain, France, Germany and Spain. The site is written in German, and a couple deals with the musicians themselves rather than an agency.

Background music or a dance floor

The band's pages describe two modes. For the aperitif or the dinner, they offer something discreet in the background; after dinner, lively, high-energy party music for dancing. The Bern page says the aim is to entertain and relax the guests, and that professional musicians who adapt to the mood and energy of the guests can really lift a moment, whether at the aperitif, the meal or the party. The Lucerne page describes the repertoire as pop, soul, rock and roll, ballads and more, and presents it as large and varied.

The concert calendar shows the range of settings in practice. The 2026 dates include weddings in Bern and Interlaken, private birthday parties in Grindelwald and Gunten, a private party in Gailingen in Germany, a national-day event in Männedorf, a company event in Interlaken, the Horner Bar in Lauterbrunnen, a street festival at Hotel Eiger in Grindelwald, the Waldhuus Bellary in Grindelwald and a long run of Sunday evenings at the Braunbär Hotel & Spa in Wengen. The wedding slots listed run from 15:00 to 17:00 or 18:00 for an afternoon, and one Bern wedding runs from 21:00 to 01:00, so both an aperitif set and a late party are part of what they do.

Venues and clients

The page on parties and company events says the 2 musicians have played events large and small, at a castle, a winery, a luxury hotel, a ski resort or an intimate bar or restaurant, as well as garden parties, summer festivals, Christmas and New Year's Eve parties and international corporate events. It lists past clients, among them Berghotel Trübsee Engelberg, Grand Casino Baden, Grand Hotel Kronenhof Pontresina, Hotel Maya Caprice Wengen, Sunstar Hotel Wengen, The Dolder Grand Hotel Zürich and Hotel RockyPop Chamonix, alongside companies including Cadbury, Clifford Chance, Exxon, Huawei, Lonza, Nike, Novartis and Vueling Airlines. The Lucerne page mentions weddings on a boat on Lake Lucerne (Vierwaldstättersee), in the old town or at one of the lakeside hotels as possible settings.

What couples say

The references page carries short reviews in German, most from weddings. Katharina and Jeremy, married in Zurich, write that they booked the band on the strength of online reviews without having heard them before, and that Ibe and Beves played the evening session after dinner, went with the crowd, entertained everyone and got the dance floor going. Christian and Alexandra write that the whole wedding party was on the dance floor, "Soger das 90 Jährige Grosi" (even the 90-year-old grandma). Martina and Omar in Basel had the band play in church and at the aperitif, and call them "total professionell und sympathisch". Denise and Rolf name "Ibe & Maria" as the musicians at their wedding, so the line-up can include other musicians; a couple should ask who will play on their date. Other entries come from a wedding in Lenk, a Christmas party in Lausanne, a boat party in Neuchâtel and the Festival des Terrasses in Crans-Montana, whose organizer calls them professional artists who spread a good mood.

Hearing them first

The Sunday evenings at the Braunbär Hotel & Spa in Wengen, listed in the calendar from 19:30 to 22:15 through spring and summer 2026, are a public chance to hear the band before booking, for a couple already in Switzerland or visiting to look at venues. The photo page carries one more line of feedback, "Sie haben genau die Atmosphäre geschaffen, die wir erreichen wollten": they created exactly the atmosphere we wanted.

Booking from abroad

This is where the band is clearly set up for couples planning at a distance. The Bern page says they know that choosing musicians for a wedding can be stressful, and offers to answer every question without obligation and, if wanted, to meet on a video call. They can be reached by email, WhatsApp, SMS or phone. The Lucerne page adds that all calls and messages are answered directly by Ibe and Beves, not by a booking agency or a third party, and that they can give a couple a clear sample contract before any decision is needed.

What the site does not settle

The site publishes no prices, no set lengths and no deposit or cancellation terms; a couple learns those from the quote and the sample contract the band offers. It does not say what equipment the band brings, whether they need the venue's sound system, or how much space and power a setup takes. It does not state travel charges, although the calendar shows them playing from Bern and the Bernese Oberland to Männedorf and into Germany.

Language is not addressed directly. The site is in German, with a language menu, but the site does not state whether the musicians correspond or announce in English. Their stated experience in Great Britain and their international corporate clients make it a natural question to ask, and the video call they offer is the easiest place to settle it. The repertoire itself is not listed song by song on these pages; a couple wanting specific songs should name them early.

Who it suits

Uptown Lights suits couples anywhere in Switzerland, and particularly around Bern, Interlaken and the Bernese Oberland, who want a small live act that can play discreetly at the aperitif and dinner and then carry the party afterwards. For a couple planning from abroad, the direct contact, the video call and the sample contract before signing take much of the risk out of booking a band unheard. The caveats are the absence of prices and technical detail, and the possibility that the musicians differ from the named duo on some dates. A couple wanting a big band with horns for the dance floor should note that this is a duo.
