Open the stationery page at maleana.ch and the banner running across the top still reads "moderne & schlichte Hochzeitskleider | Boho & Vintage Brautmode", modern and understated wedding dresses, boho and vintage bridal fashion. It's the same line that runs across every page on the site, stationery included, and it isn't a mistake. Maleana is a wedding-dress boutique in Küssnacht am Rigi, in central Switzerland between Zurich and Lucerne, and its own About page is direct about where the letterpress cards fit into that business: "Zusätzlich werden in unseren eigenen Manufaktur einzigartige und handgemachte Letterpress Einladungskarten hergestellt," additionally, unique, handmade letterpress invitation cards are made in our own manufaktur. Additionally. The card line is real, priced in detail, and worth a couple's time. It just isn't why this business exists, and the site never pretends otherwise.

The boutique itself is run by two people, Tanja and Remo, who describe their shared work in one line on the About page: "Unsere Leidenschaft gehört den wunderbaren Details, die an Hochzeiten eine einmalige Atmosphäre zaubern," their passion belongs to the wonderful details that conjure a singular atmosphere at weddings. Tanja traces her own interest back to working as a flower girl and has since helped plan numerous weddings, including her own. Remo writes about the moment Tanja walked into the chapel in her own wedding dress, and about wanting to help other couples hold onto their wedding story, a line that connects straight to the site's separate photography offering, listed in the footer alongside the stationery. Between the dresses, the cashmere cardigans sold in the same shop, and the photography line, the letterpress cards are one product among several this couple has built around the same day, not a studio with its own front door.

Three named cards, three papers, three prices

Rather than one generic "custom invitation" listing, the papeterie page sells three specific, photographed products. Mila starts at CHF 375.00: white cotton paper at 300g, printed in gold ink, shown at a 15x15cm format. Provence and Portofino both start at CHF 438.00, and both use handgeschöpftes, hand-made deckle-edge cotton paper rather than Mila's machine-made stock. Provence pairs cream and sage-toned paper with an ink shade the site names Toskana; Portofino pairs cream and salmon-toned paper with a shade named Malve, mauve. Both are shown as a 15x20cm invitation card with a matching 10x15cm detail card.

Every one of the three is more semi-custom than fixed template. The price includes a choice of design variant, fully individual text, a choice of graphic symbols and ornaments (more on request), a choice of ink colour, and a choice of paper format: Mila's main card can be ordered at 15x20cm, 10x17cm or 15x15cm; Provence and Portofino at 15x20cm or 14x14cm. On top of that base price, Maleana lists real add-on figures rather than a vague "ask us": a letterpress return address on the envelope costs CHF 1 per piece, a custom graphic line drawing (the site's own example is a church or a house) starts at CHF 150, and a fully custom layout and design starts at CHF 300. Mila alone adds a recycled brown card box at CHF 2.90 per piece. Each design also comes as a single card, a two-piece set with envelope and detail card, or a three-piece set adding a response card and its own envelope, and Mila offers a heavier 600g paper option alongside the standard 300g. Order quantities run in steps of 25, 50, 75 and 100 pieces; nothing on the page states a minimum order policy, so 25 is simply the smallest figure in the dropdown, not a stated floor.

Two more doors into the same manufaktur

Below the three named sets sit two separate offers, each with its own "Offerte anfordern," request a quote, button. The first is fully bespoke: "Wir gestalten eure exklusive, einzigartige Hochzeitspapeterie genau nach euren Wünschen und Vorstellungen," we design your exclusive, unique wedding stationery exactly to your wishes and vision. The couple tells Maleana their love story and ideas, gets a design proposal back, and works through colour, paper, print method, format and finish together before anything is final. The second is print-only, for a couple who already has their own design: "Gerne vervielfältigen wir eure Karten mit dem Letterpress-Verfahren, mit Heissfolienprägung oder Digital-Offsetdruck," we're happy to reproduce your cards using letterpress, hot foil stamping or digital offset printing, chosen from the studio's own range of fine-art papers. Between the three named collections, the print-only route and the fully bespoke commission, this is a wider set of ways to order than most single-product stationery sites in this category offer, even if the core catalogue itself is small.

The site's own process page names all three techniques again and ties them together: "Für die Herstellung der Karten arbeiten wir je nach Wunsch der Kundinnen und Kunden mit Letterpress, Digital-Offsetdruck (Pigmenttinte) oder Heissfolienprägung auf hochwertigen Baumwoll- & Recyclingpapieren," for making the cards we work, depending on the customer's wish, with letterpress, digital offset print using pigment ink, or hot foil stamping, on high-quality cotton and recycled papers. Motifs are drawn by hand first, then printed with whichever of the three methods the couple chooses. A separate closing line on the papeterie page confirms the range runs past the invitation itself: save-the-date card, invitation card, Kirchenheft (an order-of-service booklet), menu card, table cards and thank-you card, all designed as one continuous set rather than sold piece by piece.

What the dress side publishes that the card side doesn't

Maleana's own FAQ page is a useful contrast, because it exists and it says nothing about stationery at all: every question on it concerns fitting and buying a wedding dress. It also shows what this business is willing to publish when it wants to. Dresses run "zwischen 2000.- CHF und 3500.- CHF," with a finished dress promised "innerhalb von 12-14 Wochen," 12 to 14 weeks. Nothing comparable exists for the letterpress cards. There's no published lead time from a signed-off brief to a finished box of invitations, no stated cost or count for a proof and revision round, and the CHF 375 and CHF 438 starting prices are exactly that, starting prices, with the final number depending on paper weight, quantity and add-ons a couple has to work out directly with the studio. None of that is unusual for a small print operation. What's unusual is that it sits on the same domain as a business that clearly can and does publish hard numbers, just not for this product.

One language, and a homepage that still says 2021

Every page checked here, home, papeterie, about, FAQ and contact, runs in German only, with no English toggle anywhere in the navigation. Nothing on the site states whether a design brief, a quote or the printed wording itself can run in English, so that's a first-call question rather than an assumption. Worth flagging separately: the homepage's own contact block still carries the line "(der neue Standort wird Ende 2021 eröffnet)," the new location opens end of 2021, underneath the current Küssnacht address, and nothing else checked on the domain is dated any later than 5 March 2022. No search turned up any closure notice, and third-party directories still list the boutique as active at Grepperstrasse 65, so this reads as a business that hasn't refreshed its own copy in a while rather than one that's stopped trading. It's worth a couple double-checking current details directly before booking, the same way they'd confirm a lead time the site itself doesn't publish.

What Maleana gets right on the stationery side is specificity where it counts: three named designs with real papers, real ink names and real starting prices, three genuine production methods named outright rather than left vague, and two further ways in, print-only or fully bespoke, for anyone the fixed designs don't fit. A couple who wants a dedicated stationery studio built around nothing but paper should look elsewhere in this category. A couple already drawn to Maleana for a dress, who'd rather not brief a second, unrelated business for the invitations, gets a genuinely capable letterpress line attached to the one they're already talking to.
