Château de l'Aile
Tap a star to rate
Château de l'Aile is a privately rented château at Grande Place 1 in Vevey, close to Lake Geneva in the canton of Vaud. Its wedding page offers the whole building for a wedding day, from the aperitif to the party, and describes the setting as "un cadre exceptionnel caressant lac et montagnes", an exceptional setting brushing the lake and the mountains. The footer of the site calls it the preferred address for an event in the heart of Vevey, close to Lake Geneva.
The setting
The wedding page opens with a nod to fairy tales ("Il était une fois... notre mariage", once upon a time, our wedding) and promises a romantic 19th-century atmosphere ("une ambiance romantique du XIXe siècle"). The château calls itself a "résidence de prestige", and it lists the spaces a wedding can use: the various salons, the turrets, the caveau (a vaulted cellar), the inner courtyard, the terrace and the garden. These spaces, the page says, are set up according to the couple's wishes.
For couples from abroad this is the appeal of the place: a historic house in the middle of a lakeside town, with indoor rooms for dinner, an outdoor courtyard and garden for the aperitif, and a vaulted cellar. The page does not describe each space in detail, so the site's separate pages on the spaces (Les Espaces) and a visit are the way to see how a day would flow through the building.
Capacities, stated plainly
Unusually for a Swiss venue, the wedding page publishes its capacities by format:
- Vin d'honneur + repas + soirée (aperitif, dinner and evening party): 70 guests
- Repas + soirée (dinner and evening party): 90 guests
- Vin d'honneur uniquement (aperitif only): 120 guests
- Cérémonie laïque (secular ceremony): 70 guests
The pattern is useful. A full day on site, from aperitif to dancing, works for up to 70 guests. A couple who holds the aperitif elsewhere can seat 90 for dinner and the party. A standing aperitif after a ceremony elsewhere can take 120. This is a venue for a small or mid-sized wedding, not a large one.
Ceremonies
The château lists a secular ceremony (cérémonie laïque) for up to 70 guests, and one of the posts in its social media feed on the page is headed "Votre cérémonie laïque au Château de l'Aile". The page does not mention a civil ceremony with a registrar or a religious ceremony. A couple who needs the legal marriage on the same day should ask how the château usually fits the civil registry appointment into the schedule.
Suppliers and catering
The château does not present an in-house kitchen. Instead the page says: "Profitez de nos suggestions de prestataires recommandés. Traiteur, fleuriste, photographe, décorateur, nous pouvons vous conseiller, ou laissez libre cours à votre imagination et vos envies." In English: make use of our suggestions of recommended suppliers; caterer, florist, photographer, decorator, we can advise you, or give free rein to your imagination and wishes. So the couple chooses the caterer and the other suppliers, either from the château's recommendations or on their own.
That gives freedom over the menu and the look of the day, and it also means more coordination: several contracts, several contacts, and a caterer who needs to know the building. The page does not say whether a caterer from outside the recommended list must meet any conditions, or whether there is a kitchen for the caterer to work in. Those are good questions for the first meeting.
The page also says the team accompanies couples through the many ways of organizing the day in the building: aperitif, reception, cocktail, ceremony, dinner, wedding party.
Availability, accommodation and practical pages
The wedding page includes an availability calendar, opening on September 2026, with a legend that marks dates as unavailable, so couples can check a date before writing. The site's navigation adds an Agenda 2026 page, a page of practical information (Informations Pratiques), and a section on accommodation (Hébergements). The wedding page itself does not describe the accommodation, so couples with guests traveling from abroad should read that section and ask whether rooms can be reserved for the wedding party.
The same navigation shows that the château also hosts corporate events, private events and photo and film shoots, so wedding dates share the calendar with other bookings. The social media feed embedded on the wedding page shows the house also used for an art exhibition and a summer of events, and one post shares ideas for a wedding seating plan, which gives a sense of how actively the château presents itself as a wedding venue.
Contact and language
The contact on the wedding page is Mariza Durgnat, Grande Place 1, 1800 Vevey, +41 79 173 52 34, and the page ends with an invitation to get in touch with any question. The site also links its general terms of sale (CGV).
The whole site is in French, and it does not say whether the team works in English. International couples should ask in their first message whether the planning, the contract and the day itself can be handled in English.
What the page does not settle
The wedding page publishes no prices, neither for renting the château nor for any package. It gives no end time for the party, no rules on music, and no information on parking or on how to reach Grande Place from the station or from Geneva airport. It does not describe accessibility for guests with reduced mobility, which matters in a building with turrets and a cellar. The practical information page is the place to start, and the rest belongs in the first conversation with the château.
Who it suits
Château de l'Aile suits couples planning a small to mid-sized wedding, up to 70 guests for a full day on site or 90 for dinner and dancing, who want a historic house in the center of Vevey and like choosing their own caterer and suppliers. The caveats are that the site is in French only, prices are not published, and the couple will coordinate several suppliers rather than buy an all-inclusive package.
