Chateau la Rose d'Or
Tap a star to rate
Chateau la Rose d'Or is a wine estate in Luins, in the Côte vaudoise wine region of the canton of Vaud, run by the winemaker Jean-Michel Walther. Alongside its wines, tastings and shop, the estate rents out its own reception hall for weddings, birthdays, christenings and company events, for up to 60 people. It is one of the rare Swiss venues that publishes both a hall rate and a minimum catering budget on its wedding page, along with its booking and cancellation conditions.
The estate and its winemaker
The site presents the house as "Château la Rose d'Or, Domaine viticole d'exception à Luins, La Côte vaudoise". Its shop sells the estate's wines, a Champagne, beers and spirits, and the navigation lists tastings with fondue, partner restaurants and a biography of Jean-Michel Walther. The page also presents a book, "L'Odyssée d'un maître de chai" (the odyssey of a cellar master), a conversation between Walther and the author Jean-Claude Monney about the vineyards of Luins, winemaking, aging, bottling and tasting. The publisher's description calls Walther a vintner, oenologist and cellar master who shapes his wines "avec une exigence rare et une humilité profonde" (with rare exactingness and deep humility). For wine-loving guests, the book and a tasting make natural add-ons to a wedding weekend.
The hall
The event page describes the hall as a place to celebrate "dans un cadre viticole chaleureux, élégant et authentique, au cœur de la Côte vaudoise" (in a warm, elegant and authentic wine-country setting, in the heart of the Côte vaudoise). It sits within the estate in Luins, and the page lists what it offers:
- a warm atmosphere with wood, soft light and the character of a wine cellar ("cachet de caveau")
- a flexible space for a seated meal, a buffet, a dance floor or a company presentation
- possible equipment, depending on the setup: sound system, video projector, WiFi, bar, crockery, terrace and outdoor space
- access for people with reduced mobility ("Accès PMR")
The maximum capacity is 60 people. That makes this a venue for a small wedding: close family and friends at a seated dinner, with room for dancing.
Published prices
The page gives hall rates excluding catering. For weddings and large private parties, covering the evening and the night ("soirée + nuit"), the hall costs from CHF 1000. A company day, seminar or team-building event also starts at CHF 1000 per day. In both cases, final cleaning and equipment such as sound, lighting and a projector are added according to the project, and the estate issues a precise quote based on the date, number of guests, times and services.
For food and drink, the page sets a floor: "Minimum à prévoir : à partir de 85 CHF par personne, selon le traiteur choisi, le type de menu et les boissons." In English: plan for a minimum from CHF 85 per person, depending on the caterer, the type of menu and the drinks. The estate explains that it wants to keep the offer at a quality level consistent with the place and the service. On request it prepares a personalized offer with menu, drinks and a detailed schedule.
Catering by partner caterers
The estate does not cook itself. The page says it works exclusively with selected partner caterers and names 2 of them: Traiteur de Châtelaine and Traiteur de la Côte. The second is described in more detail: it specializes in tailor-made offers for business and private events, works with local artisans and producers, and calls itself an ambassador of the Vaud terroir. Depending on the couple's wishes it offers Asian, Italian, gastronomic or traditional cooking, as menus, aperitifs, buffets or served meals. Its contact details on the page are +41 78 322 09 60 and info@traiteurdelacote.ch, and it is based at Route du Vignoble 12 in Vinzel, where the page lists its own opening hours, Wednesday to Sunday from 10:00 to 23:00, and a second number, +41 21 824 11 41.
The estate pitches the whole package as turnkey. Under "5 bonnes raisons" it lists saving time, a lighter mind, less stress, no dealing with the unexpected, and enjoying the day without worrying about anything. The page says it handles the full organization of events, always tailored to the client's taste.
Booking conditions
The conditions on the page are clear and worth reading before signing. A booking requires a 50% deposit on the total invoice. A cancellation must be made 30 days before the event; after that, the deposit is not refunded, but the estate offers to move the event to a new date within the 4 months following the original booking date. The final number of guests must be confirmed a week before the event and is used for billing, with extra guests charged on top. Drinks are chosen from the estate's own selection of wines and spirits, so bringing outside wine is not part of the offer. The full general terms are published on the site.
Contact and visits
To visit the hall or ask for a quote, couples contact Jean-Michel Walther directly at +41 79 210 64 64 or info@chateaurosedor.ch, at Chemin de La Vyborne 3, 1184 Luins. If he does not answer, the site gives a second number for Yasmina Hug Walther, +41 79 433 43 04. The page asks couples to describe the type of event, number of guests, preferred date and budget. The estate's opening hours are Wednesday to Friday 9:30 to 12:00 and 14:00 to 18:30 and Saturday 10:00 to 12:30; it is closed on Sunday, and Monday, Tuesday and Saturday afternoon are by appointment.
Language and getting there
The site is in French, and it says nothing about English. International couples should ask in their first message whether the planning and the service on the day can be in English. The page gives the address in Luins but no directions, station, parking or accommodation, so guests coming from Geneva or from abroad will need to plan their transport and hotels separately.
Who it suits
Chateau la Rose d'Or suits couples planning a small wedding of up to 60 guests who want a wine estate, a clear idea of costs from the start, and one organizer handling the hall, the caterer and the wine. The trade-offs are the firm capacity limit, catering only through the estate's partners, drinks only from its own cellar, and a French-language booking process.
