Domaine de la Crausaz is a wine estate at Chemin de la Creuse 9 in Grandvaux, in the Lavaux vineyards above Lake Léman. The estate says it was founded in 1515, and its wedding page offers 3 formats, from a 2-hour aperitif to a full day from 11:00 to 21:00, for up to 120 guests outdoors on its panoramic terrace or 40 to 60 indoors. Only the estate's own wines are served.
The setting
The home page describes the place as "un site unique rempli d'histoire" (a unique site full of history), "idéalement perché dans le coeur du vignoble de Lavaux, à seulement quelques minutes de Lausanne et Vevey" (ideally perched in the heart of the Lavaux vineyard, only a few minutes from Lausanne and Vevey), with a panorama the estate calls simply unique and an exceptional terrace. The page on the surrounding region adds that the Lavaux vineyard covers 830 hectares of vines and 10,000 terraces, with an extraordinary view over the lake and the Alps behind it.
The wedding page builds on that view. Couples are invited to welcome their guests on the large panoramic terrace, where they can enjoy the view over Lake Léman and the Alps with a glass raised in the couple's honor. The page's pitch is that a fairy-tale landscape is nothing without excellent service on the most romantic day of a life, and that the estate brings the two together.
The estate is also a place for day visitors and business groups. The home page presents it as somewhere to relax with friends over a glass or to work in a historic setting, lists state-of-the-art equipment for seminars, and says the team is happy to answer special requests for private events. The wedding page closes with the promise that the estate will go out of its way ("se met en 4") to help a couple bring the day together.
The 3 wedding formats
The wedding page sets out its offer as a table.
Journée (full day), 11:00 to 21:00. Marked as full rental of the estate, with needs to be defined by prior arrangement. Aperitif, a plated meal and a special table setup are all available.
Demi-journée (half day), 14:00 to 18:00 or 17:00 to 21:00. Aperitif, a plated meal and a special setup are all available here too; the difference is the shorter time slot.
Vin d'honneur, 2 hours. An aperitif only, with no plated meal and no special setup.
The capacity rows apply to all three: 100 to 120 guests outside, 40 to 60 inside. For a couple that means the terrace carries the day. A wedding of 100 guests works with good weather; if it rains, the indoor space takes 40 to 60, so a large guest list needs a plan for bad weather that the page does not describe.
How pricing works
The rental price for each format is marked "Prendre contact avec notre équipe" (contact our team), so no figures are published. The legend explains what that rental price covers, which is useful to know before asking. It covers only the use of the premises, the privatization of the place. Food, drinks, service and any requests to the authorities are paid on top, and the aperitif and plated meal are marked as not included in the flat rental price. Prices include VAT.
So a couple will be quoted in layers: the estate rental, then the food and service, then the wine, which by the booking conditions must be the estate's own ("Uniquement les vins du domaine sont servis", only the estate's wines are served). The page also invites couples to ask about other packages suited to their needs and about available dates.
Food and drink
The estate's privatization offer on the home page speaks of a day or evening built around "un bon repas fait maison" (a good homemade meal) and a complete range of wines. The site also runs a Sunday brunch every Sunday from March to November, in the form of a large buffet, and offers chocolate and wine pairings all year in partnership with the chocolatier Moutarlier. The wine list and food menu are linked from the site's navigation. The wedding page does not name a caterer or describe wedding menus, so couples should ask whether the plated meal comes from the estate's own kitchen and what menus are available.
Hours, access and accommodation
The estate's published opening hours run from March to October: Thursday and Friday 16:00 to 21:30, Saturday and Sunday 10:30 to 18:00, and Monday to Wednesday closed except by reservation. The site does not give hours for November to February, so couples considering a winter date should ask whether weddings are possible then.
Among its reasons to visit, the home page lists parking less than 150 meters away. The site links a contact and access map page, but the pages here give no information on trains, buses or shuttles. The navigation includes a section on accommodation (Hébergement), so couples with guests traveling from abroad should look there and ask what the estate can offer for overnight stays.
Contact and language
The estate's contact details are +41 (0)21 357 90 18 and info@lacrausaz.ch. The wedding page is in French, and the site's language switch also offers German and English versions. The pages do not say whether weddings can be planned in English, so couples should ask in their first message.
What the page does not settle
The wedding page does not say whether a ceremony can be held on the estate or only the reception, and it mentions requests to the authorities only as a cost the couple pays. It does not cover music, decoration, photographers or access for guests with reduced mobility. Its hours stop at 21:00 for both the full day and the late half-day slot, and it does not say whether an evening can run later by arrangement. These are questions for the first conversation.
Who it suits
Domaine de la Crausaz suits couples who want a Lavaux wine estate with a terrace over the lake, a daytime or early-evening celebration ending by 21:00, and a guest list of up to 120 in fine weather. It works well for an aperitif after a ceremony elsewhere, using the 2-hour vin d'honneur. The caveats are the unpublished prices, the smaller indoor capacity if the weather turns, and the rule that only the estate's wines are poured.
