Eden Palace au Lac

Tap a star to rate

Eden Palace au Lac is a hotel at Rue du Théâtre 11 in Montreux, on Lake Geneva, and its wedding page offers the house for the whole celebration: a Belle Époque ballroom, a private terrace for the aperitif, its own restaurant for the meal, and rooms for the guests. The page is published in French, English, German and Italian, which makes it one of the easier Swiss venues for a couple from abroad to read without help.

The Salon 1900

The centerpiece of the wedding offer is the Salon 1900. The English page describes it as a room with "Belle Epoque-style décor, 340m 2 and able to accommodate up to 150 guests, with a splendid view of the Alps and Lake Geneva." For a seated wedding dinner of up to 150, that is the room to ask about. The hotel's navigation lists it under banquets and galas, alongside a second large room, the Salon Belle Epoque, which the wedding page does not describe.

The page gives no floor plan and no configurations, so the questions for the first contact are practical ones: how the Salon 1900 is set for a seated dinner with a dance floor, whether a ceremony can be held in it before the dinner, and when the Salon Belle Epoque is used instead.

The terrace for the aperitif

The Terrasse Pergola is the hotel's private terrace. The English page calls it "the ideal spot for an aperitif or cocktail", with a splendid view over the lake. For a summer wedding, that suggests a natural flow: drinks outside with the lake in view, then dinner in the Salon 1900. The page does not say how many guests the terrace takes or what happens to the aperitif if it rains.

Other rooms and the full capacity range

The hotel lists further rooms under conferences and seminars: the Salon Victoria et Régence, the Salon Léman, the Salon Byron and the Salle Villa Eden. The wedding page does not describe them for weddings, but it does state the overall range: "De 15 à 250 personnes, notre hôtel est en mesure d'accueillir tous vos évènements privés" (from 15 to 250 people, our hotel can host all your private events). So the hotel covers an intimate family dinner as well as a large party, though the only room with a published wedding capacity is the Salon 1900 at 150. Couples with a guest list above 150 should ask which spaces the hotel would combine.

Food and drink

The hotel's restaurant, Chez Gaston, handles the food. The English page says the restaurant "suggests you sitting down at its table, or organizing the catering of your private event", which gives 2 options: a smaller wedding party dining at the restaurant itself, or the restaurant catering a private event in one of the salons. The navigation also lists the Eden's terrace (La terrasse de l'Eden), the hotel bar and breakfast by the lake.

No menus, prices or drinks packages are published on the wedding page, and it does not say whether outside caterers, wine or a wedding cake from an outside baker are allowed.

Rooms for guests

"L'hôtel dispose de nombreuses chambres pour accueillir tous vos convives", the French page says: the hotel has many rooms to welcome all the guests. The accommodation section lists Standard rooms, Deluxe rooms, family rooms, Junior Suites and the Villa Eden, and the site also has a wellness section. For a destination wedding this is the main practical advantage: guests can sleep in the building where the party takes place, and the couple does not need to organize transport back to hotels at the end of the night. The wedding page gives no room rates, no group rate and no number of rooms, so couples should ask whether a block of rooms can be held for the wedding and on what terms.

Getting there

The hotel states its own location in time: less than an hour from Geneva Airport, thirty minutes from Lausanne station and five minutes from Montreux station. Those figures come from the page, and they cover the 3 ways most foreign guests will arrive. The page does not mention parking, airport transfers or a shuttle from the station, so couples with many guests flying in should ask whether the hotel can arrange transfers.

Contact and booking

The page invites couples to contact the hotel's dedicated service for more information on organizing a wedding, and it links a wedding brochure ("Notre brochure mariages") for inspiration. The contact details are +41 21 966 08 00, fax +41 21 966 09 00, and info@edenpalace.ch, at Rue du Théâtre 11, 1820 Montreux. The hotel's navigation also covers the town of Montreux, its festivals and local activities, which helps guests planning a longer stay around the wedding.

A hotel first

The wedding page sits inside a full hotel site. Weddings share the events section with birthdays, conferences, seminars, banquets and galas, and the site also carries a photo gallery, a guest book page ("Ils sont venus à l'Eden Palace", they came to the Eden Palace), special offers and an online booking button for rooms. For a couple, that means the practical side of a stay, from booking a room to breakfast by the lake, runs through an established hotel operation rather than an events-only venue, and guests can book their own rooms online once the dates are fixed.

What the page does not settle

The wedding page publishes no prices, no minimum spend, no packages, no deposit or cancellation terms and no end time for the party. It does not say whether a civil or secular ceremony can be held at the hotel. The brochure may answer some of this, and the rest goes into the first email: guest count, preferred date, whether the ceremony is on site, and how many guests need rooms.

Who it suits

Eden Palace au Lac suits couples who want a classic hotel wedding in Montreux with everything under one roof: the Belle Époque Salon 1900 for up to 150, a lake-view terrace for drinks, a restaurant that caters the event, and rooms upstairs for the guests. It suits international guest lists well, with pages in 4 languages and stated journey times from Geneva Airport and the nearby stations. The caveats are the lack of published prices and the thin detail on rooms other than the Salon 1900.
