A modern hotel on the lake in Versoix

Lake Geneva Hotel stands at Route de Suisse 79 in Versoix, in the canton of Geneva. It has over 100 rooms, a restaurant called O'Five with a second outlet named Deck By O'Five, and 305 m² of modular seminar space. The wedding page frames the whole day around one feature, the hotel's terrace with its panoramic view of Lake Geneva and Mont Blanc, and invites couples to celebrate in "a modern and extraordinary setting". This is a contemporary hotel rather than a manor or a castle, and for a couple bringing guests in from abroad the practical point is that the ceremony, the aperitif, the dinner and the beds are all under one roof.

The site is published in French, German and English, and the English wedding page is complete, down to the quote form. The region page describes Versoix as lying at the foot of the Jura, facing the Alps and Mont Blanc.

The wedding day, as the hotel lays it out

The wedding page walks through the day in four parts.

The ceremony takes place on the terrace, which the hotel calls an exceptional place to say a big "Yes" on the day, surrounded by greenery with a clear view of the lake. The page does not say whether this is a civil ceremony conducted by a registrar or a symbolic one, and it does not say where the ceremony moves to if it rains.

The cocktail is also on the terrace, which the page describes as very spacious. The hotel offers what it calls a refined aperitif.

The reception is the dinner. The chef's cooking is described as elaborate, combining traditional food with international influences, with the sunset over the lake, the Alps and the Jura as the backdrop. The restaurant page adds that the restaurant sits on the lake side with an elevated terrace.

The wedding night is spent in one of the hotel's rooms with a direct view of Lake Geneva.

An events manager answers questions and, in the hotel's words, "will accompany you during all the preparations until your wedding day". The site also lists Cocktails and Banquets as a separate event format and offers Day Use, which may interest a couple whose guests only need a room for a few hours to change.

Rooms for the guests

The hotel lists five room types. Classic rooms are 18 m², with a calm design and a view over the park and the church. Superior rooms are 20 m² and each has a projecting bay window with an open view of the lake, Mont Blanc and the mountains. Deluxe rooms are 25 m², sleep 2 in a double bed and look out over the lake, the mountains and the Alps through a large bay window. The two Junior Suites are 35 m² on the top floor, each with a private terrace of 17 m². There are also Family Rooms and a page of family advantages.

The Deluxe room page gives the house rules that apply to a wedding group. Check-in is from 15:00 and check-out by 11:00. Breakfast is served daily from 07:00 to 10:00, American style with hot and cold dishes, at CHF 24 per person per day. The parking garage costs CHF 21 per night, free for Deluxe rooms and Junior Suites. Pets are allowed for CHF 20 per pet per night, 1 per room, but not in the Junior Suites. Rooms have a desk, a self-regulating temperature system, a bathtub, cable TV with more than 100 channels, a hairdryer and broadband internet, with an iron and ironing board on request. The building is Minergie certified, which the hotel explains as automatically controlled ventilation throughout the building and the rooms. Guests also get a preferential CHF 15 rate at a partner Let's Go fitness room a few meters from the hotel.

Arriving from abroad

The amenity list on the room page includes a free airport shuttle. The detail is more limited than that headline suggests: the hotel runs a free shuttle from Monday to Friday between 7:00 and 9:00, leaving from the hotel, within a radius of 20 minutes around it and outside Geneva city center. Beyond that the service is charged, and it has to be reserved at reception 24 hours ahead, subject to availability. For a Saturday wedding, that means guests arriving at the weekend should not count on the free run and should ask reception how to get there. The site does not give train connections or journey times.

Booking and contact

Wedding enquiries go to events@lakegenevahotel.ch or through the form on the wedding page, which asks for the type of event, the number of people needing accommodation and the number of people needing a room for the event, plus a message. General questions go to info@lakegenevahotel.ch or +41 (0)22 907 81 11.

What the site does not answer

There are no wedding prices, packages or sample menus anywhere on the wedding pages, so the budget comes only through the personalized offer. The hotel does not publish a seated capacity for a wedding dinner, only the 305 m² figure for its modular seminar rooms. It does not say whether the terrace or the restaurant can be reserved exclusively, how late music can play, whether outside suppliers are welcome, or whether a group rate applies to a block of rooms. A couple who wants a legally binding marriage should ask whether a civil ceremony is possible on site, since the page does not say so.

Who it suits

Lake Geneva Hotel suits a couple who want a clean, modern setting with a lake view, a straightforward format (ceremony and aperitif on the terrace, dinner inside, rooms upstairs) and enough rooms to house most of the guest list. The published room rates for breakfast and parking, the range from 18 m² Classic rooms to Junior Suites and the English-language form make it easy to plan from a distance. Families traveling with children or a dog will find the rules spelled out.

It suits less well a couple after historic character or a rural estate, and those who want every figure on paper before writing. The outdoor ceremony also depends on the weather, and the page gives no indoor fallback.
