A makeup artist and hairstylist with a published rate

Alexandra Keller is a makeup artist and hairstylist whose studio site, titled "make-up, hairstyling & more", lists weddings among half a dozen services. Her business address is in Bremgarten, the point from which travel costs are calculated. What sets the site apart from most in this category is its price page: it publishes an hourly rate, the expected length of each wedding package and the prices of her workshops, so a couple can build a rough budget before sending a single email.

The homepage opens with her approach in one line: "Jeder Mensch verfügt über eine natürliche Schönheit. Die Kunst ist es diese mit einem typen- und anlassgerechten Make-up gekonnt zu betonen." In English, every person has a natural beauty, and the skill lies in bringing it out with makeup suited to the person and the occasion. Under the wedding heading she asks whether you want a professional makeup that suits your type for your special day, and the page closes with an offer to respond to personal wishes and ideas.

Training and background

Her about page describes her path. She started her working life with a commercial apprenticeship in public administration, and alongside her self-employed makeup work she still heads the residents' registration office and burial office in a municipality in the canton of Zurich. She writes that personal contact with people has always mattered to her, and that she missed creativity in her day job.

She completed the diploma course as a makeup artist (dipl. Visagistin) at Face Design Visagistenschule GmbH in 2018, a training she describes as practical and wide-ranging and which she says she finished with great success. Today she calls herself a certified makeup artist and hairstylist by passion. She describes herself as young, upbeat and outgoing, and says her precise way of working sets her apart. The line that best explains why she takes on weddings is her own: there is nothing more beautiful than styling people for an extraordinary day, an important occasion or a big appearance, and so being part of that moment.

The site's menu has a Highlights section with three entries: Schweizer Make-up Meisterschaft (the Swiss makeup championship), Picture of the year 2019 and Faces Magazin. The pages behind those entries are not part of what the site shows here, so the site does not say what part she played in each; a couple interested in them can ask. The portfolio is divided into Beauty & Fashion, Hochzeiten (weddings), Show, customer selfies, before and after, and making-of, and there is a separate references page.

The two wedding packages

The price page, headed Angebot, lists two wedding packages. Hochzeitspaket 1 is bridal makeup including a trial appointment and consultation, with an expected time of about 2h 30min. Hochzeitspaket 2 is bridal makeup and hairstyling including a trial appointment and consultation, with an expected time of about 5h.

The packages carry no fixed price. The page states that all services are billed by time spent, at an hourly rate of CHF 140, and that all prices other than the flat workshop prices are per person and include VAT. The time given for each package is therefore an estimate, and the final bill follows the time actually needed. The page does not show a total for either package, and this guide does not work one out for you: the hours are approximate and the bill depends on them.

For single services the page gives these times: makeup about 50 minutes, a makeup trial about one hour, and hairstyling, a hairstyling trial or a combined trial depending on the work involved.

What costs extra

Three points on the price page matter for a wedding budget. Artificial lashes, hairpieces, hair accessories, rhinestones and similar items are not included in the price. Travel costs are charged per kilometer, for the round trip from her business address in Bremgarten, so the distance to your venue feeds straight into the bill. And every price is per person, so a bride who also wants her mother or bridesmaids made up should expect each of them to be billed separately. The page adds that further services can be requested by email.

Workshops and other services

Beyond weddings, the homepage lists work for business clients (shoots, fashion shows, advertising, concerts), a fresh-up for a group of friends before a hen party or a celebration, styling for a private occasion, personal consultation on how to do your own makeup, and makeup classes. The price page gives the workshop prices: a Ladies Night makeup class with your friends, for up to 4 people and at most 4 hours, including course material and a surprise gift, costs CHF 600. A personal makeup lesson for either day or evening makeup, of at most 2h 30min, costs CHF 340, and one covering both day and evening makeup, of at most 3h 30min, costs CHF 480.

The Ladies Night format is one the homepage itself suggests as an item for a hen party, which may interest a bride planning the days before the wedding as well as the day itself.

What the site does not settle

The site is published in German only, and it does not say whether she works in English or any other language. A couple from abroad should raise this in their first message.

It does not name a region she serves or a maximum travel distance, only that travel is charged from Bremgarten. It does not say whether she styles at the venue, at home or in a studio on the wedding morning. It does not give the total cost of either package, does not say how far ahead to book, and does not describe a deposit or cancellation terms. It does not say whether she brings an assistant for larger bridal parties, which matters because Package 2 alone is expected to take about 5h for the bride. The contact route is a Kontakt page in the menu; the price page itself points to email for further services.

Who it suits

Alexandra Keller suits a bride who wants to plan a beauty budget from published numbers rather than a quote request. The hourly rate, the package times and the list of extras give enough to estimate costs before getting in touch, which is rare among the suppliers in this directory. The inclusion of a trial and consultation in both packages also suits a bride who wants to see the look before the day.

The per-person billing, the travel charge and the fact that the site gives no information in English are the caveats. For a large bridal party or a venue far from Bremgarten the time and travel add up, and a couple who do not read German will need to confirm by email that the consultation can happen in a language they share.
