Tanja Marthy

Tanja Klee-Marthy, who works as Tanja Marthy, is a freelance hair and makeup artist based in Zurich. Bridal makeup is one of six services on her site, alongside event makeup, one-to-one makeup coaching, commercial and corporate makeup, fashion and editorial work, and film, TV and advertising makeup. Her about page is written in a light, joking voice under the heading "mARThy there was always a ARTist". She describes herself as "An accomplished makeup and hair artist, with a keen eye for beauty and detail", known for a broad-picture approach: "I take the entire concept of an event or shoot into account." She names her specialties as wedding styling, special occasion, TV and editorial makeup.

She counts over 10 years of experience, and says it has taught her to blend in (with a pun on the makeup term) and to feel at ease anywhere, from a hectic TV set for a horror film to a small, intimate wedding. Even a bride's mother-in-law won't scare her, she adds: "Well maybe a little."

Her background covers fashion, TV, theater, film and work for many brands. She now splits her time between commercial television work, photo shoots and her bridal clients.

The bridal service

The services page describes the bridal offer as professional bridal makeup based in Zurich and available across Switzerland, tailored to the bride's personal style, from natural and timeless to elegant or glamorous, and long-lasting and flawless for photos and video throughout the wedding day. "Hair & Make-up available" is noted under it, so hair can be part of the booking.

On the about page she promises her wedding clients "a bespoke wedding makeup package", and sums up the aim as making the bride feel like "YOURSELF but at your very best."

Her reach is wide. She writes that she is based in Zurich but covers all of Switzerland, "or anywhere else in the world if flying me out is your thing". For a destination wedding in the mountains or at a lake far from Zurich, that is the relevant line: travel is part of how she works, although the site does not say what it costs.

Her film and TV work is described in terms that matter on a wedding day: experience in long shooting days, continuity and professional lighting requirements. A wedding is a long day in front of cameras, and makeup that has to look the same in the evening photos as in the morning ones is the same problem as continuity on a set.

The site has a dedicated Bridal Contact Form. It asks for:

• first and second name, email and phone
• a postal address, which the form says is for accounting communication, the contract and the invoice, so bookings run on a written contract
• the wedding photographer and the couple's Instagram
• how they heard of her, and what makes them feel connected to her work
• the date, the styling location (where the bride wants to get ready) and the time of the ceremony
• a message, with the invitation to include as much detail as possible about the vision and the love story

Other services

Event glam makeup is offered for galas, parties, business events and red carpet appearances, polished, modern and camera-ready, with hair available. This is the service a mother of the bride or a guest going to a formal wedding would ask about.

1:1 makeup coaching takes place only in Zurich and only as one-to-one sessions, because, she writes, makeup is highly personal. The session works step by step with the client's own makeup, reviewing what she already owns and how to use it. Skin care and skin preparation are part of every session, "as a good base is key to achieving a beautiful and long-lasting make-up result", and products from her kit are available to try different techniques, textures and finishes. The aim is a look the client can recreate in her everyday routine. It is not framed as a wedding service, but a bride who wants to handle her own touch-ups could book one before the day.

Commercial, editorial and film work covers advertising shoots, business portraits and company campaigns (described as clean, natural and suited to brand imagery), fashion and editorial makeup for photoshoots, magazines and campaigns (concept-driven, modern and visually expressive), and on-set work for film, TV and advertising productions. All of it is offered in Zurich and across Switzerland, with hair available for each.

What the site does not state

The services, about and contact pages do not publish:

• prices for any service
• whether a trial is part of the bridal package
• styling for bridesmaids, mothers or guests on the wedding morning, or how many people she can prepare
• travel costs, within Switzerland or abroad

Who it suits

Tanja Marthy suits a couple who want to brief their makeup artist in English, who are marrying anywhere in Switzerland or even abroad, and who care how the bride looks on camera. The detailed bridal form makes a first inquiry efficient: date, place, ceremony time and photographer are all asked up front, so the reply can be specific.

The caveat is the missing detail on the money side. With no prices, no stated trial and no word on bridal parties, the first exchange is where a couple finds out what the booking will cost and cover.
