A Geneva makeup artist who works on precision
Lumineuses! is the business of Juliette Joly, a professional makeup artist working from the Studio High-Key at Chemin des Aulx 3, 1228 Plan-les-Ouates, which her site places about 10 minutes from the center of Geneva. She does makeup for weddings, photo shoots, corporate portraits, day and evening events, and teaches self-makeup courses. The site states more than 20 years of experience, more than 2,000 clients made up, more than 200 clients trained, and a 5-star Google rating.
Her approach is set out plainly on the homepage. Her work rests on three things: listening, understanding the context, and precise execution. Makeup, she writes, "doit servir votre image, tenir dans le temps et rester cohérent avec votre peau, votre morphologie, votre style et l'occasion" (should serve your image, last, and stay consistent with your skin, your features, your style and the occasion). The stated aim is not to make up "strongly" but to make up "juste", correctly, and never to turn a client into a secondary character on her own face.
The wedding offer: full trial plus the wedding day
Bridal makeup starts from CHF 300 and includes a complete trial and the wedding-day makeup ("Essai complet + jour J"). The site describes it as designed to hold, to photograph well and to stay consistent with the dress, the hairstyle, the light and the overall style of the wedding, and it lists coordination with the dress, hair and lighting as part of the service. Bridesmaids and family members can be made up too ("Bridesmaids et proches possibles"). The site does not give a separate bridesmaid rate, but its price list for other makeup gives a guide: from CHF 95 for everyday makeup, CHF 100 to 120 for evening makeup and CHF 120 for photo makeup.
One of the reviews on the homepage is from a bride, Claire D. from Carouge, who writes that the trial reassured her and that on the day she felt like herself, only better.
Travel and on-location makeup
The FAQ says the makeup artist can travel, depending on the service and the place: to a home, to a reception venue or to a company, with a supplement set at the time of the quote. The day and evening makeup is offered at the studio or at home depending on the project. For a bride getting ready at a hotel or at the venue, that means the wedding-day makeup can come to her, but the travel cost only appears in the quote.
Getting to the studio
The site says the studio is easy to reach by car or by public transport, with parking nearby. It shares the space with photographer Christian Bromley, so a client can go straight from makeup into a photo shoot; the FAQ is clear that the makeup is a separate service from his photo session. For a couple who want portraits before or after the wedding, that combination is convenient.
Makeup courses
Courses take place at the studio, in three formulas, each with a written recap to take home:
- Cours Naturel, 1 hour 30, CHF 190: everyday makeup with a fresh, clean result, including 3 looks adapted to the client's face
- Cours Intense, 2 hours 30, CHF 290: 2 everyday looks and 1 intense or mysterious evening look
- Cours Complet Naturel & Intense, 3 hours 30, CHF 390: 3 everyday and 2 evening looks, with a coffee break and a full written recap; the site calls it the best-seller
Clients can bring their own products or use hers. Courses can be taken alone, with a friend or in a small group: Duo formulas start at CHF 290 and Trio formulas at CHF 380, and the site suggests them for birthdays and bachelorette parties (EVJF). For a bride who plans to do her own makeup for a civil ceremony or a second day, or for bridesmaids who want to learn together, these are a practical option.
Photo, corporate and occasion makeup
The FAQ lists starting prices for other makeup: CHF 45 for men's corporate makeup (20 minutes), CHF 80 for women's corporate makeup, CHF 95 for everyday makeup, CHF 100 to 120 for evening makeup and CHF 120 for photo makeup. It explains the difference: photo makeup is calibrated for the lens and the lighting, corporate makeup stays discreet and credible, day makeup aims for a natural, groomed result, and evening makeup allows more intensity, contrast and sophistication. The services are open to women, men, young or mature skin, problem skin and teenagers. Gift vouchers are valid for every service for 12 months.
Booking and lead times
Clients can call +41 78 718 62 41 or write through the contact page, and the site says she replies within 24 hours. For a course or day or evening makeup, a week's notice can be enough; for wedding makeup, the site advises booking several weeks ahead, and more in high season. The site also has a page of general terms of sale (Conditions générales des ventes), which is where deposit and cancellation rules would be set out.
What the site does not settle
The website is entirely in French and does not say whether she works in English, so a couple from abroad should ask in the first message. It does not say whether the trial has to take place in person at the studio, or how long before the wedding it should be, which matters for a bride who lives abroad. It does not name the product brands she uses. It does not say how many bridesmaids she can make up on a wedding morning, or give a bridal-party package. The travel supplement for a venue outside Geneva is set only in the quote.
Who it suits
Lumineuses! suits a bride marrying in or around Geneva who wants makeup that looks like her own face, done by an experienced artist, with a full trial included in a published starting price. The shared photo studio suits couples who want portraits too, and the courses suit brides and bridesmaids who want to learn to do their own makeup. The caveats are the French-only site, the trial logistics for a bride living abroad, and a travel supplement that is not published.
