A family beauty studio in Zug

Beautyspecial is a beauty studio at Feldhof 14 in Zug, founded in 2007 by Pina Galati-Bova, a qualified cosmetician, and run as a family business with her sister Alessia and their colleague Adriana. The studio covers cosmetics, nails, hair removal, lashes and brows, and makeup, and its makeup page offers what it calls a "Sorglos-Paket mit Probeschminken", a worry-free package with a trial, for weddings. The makeup itself is Alessia's work: the page says it is Alessia who gives you a convincing look matched to your color type and personal preferences.

Two things make the studio easy to plan with from abroad. It publishes its full price list, including the bridal makeup at CHF 160, and it says it speaks several languages: its about page promises a multilingual service in German, Italian and Spanish ("sprechen deutsch / parliamo italiano / hablamos español"). English is not on that list.

The bridal makeup

The makeup price list has three lines and a consultation rate. Tages Make-up, a subtle day makeup, costs CHF 55. Abend Make-up, a more elaborate makeup for special occasions, costs CHF 75. Braut Make-up costs CHF 160, and the description reads, in the studio's words, "Wir schminken Ihren schönsten Tag des Lebens nach Ihren Wünschen, so dass er gebührend in bester Erinnerung bleibt. Inkl. Probeschminken." In English: they make you up for the most beautiful day of your life according to your wishes, so it stays in the best memory, with a trial makeup included.

The trial is the point of the "Sorglos" package. The makeup page explains that it is there so that everything fits and you can sleep peacefully before the day. A bride who is unsure what suits her for a particular occasion or dress can ask for individual advice, and the studio says it will take time for her. For a bride who wants to learn to do her own makeup, or a bridesmaid who wants coaching, the studio also offers makeup advice and training at CHF 90 per hour.

The page lists nothing else as included in the bridal price, and it does not mention lashes, touch-ups during the day or makeup for the rest of the bridal party. A mother or bridesmaid could be booked at the day or evening rate, but the site does not say how many people can be made up on one wedding morning.

The team

The about page introduces the three women. Pina Galati-Bova, the owner, completed a three-year apprenticeship and qualified as a cosmetician (Kosmetikerin EFZ) in 2003, then went independent in 2007; she writes that she keeps up her training. Alessia Mestre, listed as Visagistin (makeup artist) and specialist in manicure and pedicure, writes that she made her passion her profession in 2010 and has supported the Beautyspecial team since 2011. Adriana Gschwend, a Kosmetikfachfrau, previously worked at MALVA Salon de Beauté in Zug and writes that she values working without time pressure and focusing on each client.

The studio describes itself as a small, cheerful family business. It says it is not a mass operation: "Da wir keine Massenabfertigung sind, hat es maximal 1 Kunde pro Raum", so there is at most one client per room and practically no waiting. The studio has two modern rooms. Pina's treatment room is set up for classic cosmetics, and the room next door, with a view of the Rigi, holds Alessia's and Adriana's hand and foot care and a separate makeup area. The page lists high-speed WiFi and Nespresso coffee.

The about page also describes a collaboration, since 2023, with the plastic surgeon Dr. med. univ. Markus Handle, whose treatment center is in Baar/Zug. That is a separate practice, not a service of the studio, and it has no part in the bridal makeup.

Other services before the wedding

The Angebot & Preise page, last updated on 02.03.2024 with all prices including VAT, covers much more than makeup. A few lines are relevant to wedding preparation. A manicure with polish costs CHF 70 and a manicure with gel polish CHF 75; a pedicure with polish costs CHF 85, and the classic manicure and pedicure combination with polish CHF 130. Lash tinting costs CHF 35, lash and brow tinting with brow shaping CHF 60, and a lash lift CHF 85. The standard facial, with cleansing, deep-cleansing peel, steam, extraction and light therapy, costs CHF 125 for 60 minutes. Sugaring, laser hair removal, microblading, microneedling, collagen thread lifting, Aqua Facial, body treatments and massages are also priced on the page.

Booking and contact

The FAQ on the price page says the easiest way to book is the online booking tool, and that you can also call or leave a message through the contact form. The studio's numbers are 076 814 45 30 and 041 761 45 30, and the booking address is booking@beautyspecial.ch. The about page invites new clients to a free first consultation, and the FAQ adds that, depending on the service, this has to take place several weeks before the treatment.

Opening hours are Monday, Wednesday and Thursday 09:00 to 19:00, Tuesday 10:00 to 20:30, Friday 09:00 to 20:00 and Saturday 08:00 to 17:00. The studio is closed on Sunday.

What the site does not settle

The site does not say whether Alessia makes up brides at the venue, at a hotel or only in the studio, and it gives no travel terms. It does not say how far ahead to book a wedding date, how long the trial takes, or what happens if a bridal booking is canceled; the footer links to terms and conditions that are not described here. It does not list English among the studio's languages. And it gives no directions beyond the address, though the about page links to a directions page.

Who it suits

Beautyspecial suits a bride marrying in or around Zug who wants a fixed, published price for her makeup with a trial included, and who is happy to come to the studio. The CHF 160 bridal rate, the option to book mothers or bridesmaids at the day or evening rate, and the full price list for manicures, lash lifts and facials make it easy to plan a whole beauty budget in advance. Italian- and Spanish-speaking couples will find the stated languages a real advantage.

The caveats are the lack of any statement about on-site styling and the absence of English from the language list. A couple who need either should ask before booking, and a bride flying in should plan the trial into a visit well before the wedding.
