Coiffeur Lockenroll is a hair salon at Grabenweg 9 in Steffisburg, in the canton of Bern, run by Alexandra Zürcher-Eggimann, who describes herself as a hairdresser and makeup artist (Coiffeuse und Visagistin). Its wedding page is headed "Hochzeitsfrisuren Region Thun", wedding hairstyles in the Thun region, and she writes that one of the highlights of her job is when brides entrust her with their hair for the most beautiful day of their lives. The salon also does hair for women, men and children, and offers pedicure. What sets the wedding offer apart is its clear structure: three named packages, published makeup prices, and published rates for coming to the bride on the day.
Her own description emphasizes that today's brides arrive with ideas, often bringing photos, and the stylist's role is to advise on what suits the bride's personality and chosen dress. Because brides take enough time over the hairstyle, she writes, different styles can be tried out ahead of the wedding. The options she names are a braiding technique, a plait, a romantic updo or hair worn open, and whether flowers should be woven in. All of this takes place in a quiet atmosphere at the salon in Steffisburg. When the wedding day arrives, she writes, the salon becomes festive too: the bride's place is decorated so that she remembers the appointment years later, and once the hairspray is on and the style sits perfectly, they toast the day: "Auf ein wunderbares Eheleben!", to a wonderful married life.
Coiffeur Lockenroll offers three wedding packages, each with a different level of service. The first, called "Für Bräute" (For Brides), includes comprehensive consultation, one trial hairstyle session, and the wedding-day hairstyle. The second, "Für Prinzessinnen" (For Princesses), adds individual consultation, a trial with makeup included, and the wedding hairstyle with makeup. The third tier, "Für Königinnen" (For Queens), includes both an individual trial with makeup and the wedding-day look in two parts: a simple but polished hairstyle and makeup for a registry office ceremony, plus the full wedding hairstyle and makeup, with a wedding lipstick on top, listed as worth 29.00. The packages are presented on the page as new ("Neu: Hochzeitspäckli"), and she promises to do everything to realize the bride's ideal hairstyle whichever package she chooses. The Königinnen package suits a couple whose registry office ceremony and main celebration fall at different times, since it covers a simpler look for the first and the full wedding look for the second. Each package links to a price list as a PDF; the package prices are in that document rather than on the wedding page itself.
The makeup services are broken out separately and priced as follows: daytime makeup costs 30 to 50 CHF, evening makeup 60 to 80 CHF, and bridal makeup 90 to 130 CHF. Each range is marked "nach Aufwand", according to the work involved. The same list gives lash and brow tinting at 15.00 CHF and brow plucking at 10.00 CHF. On the makeup page she writes that one of the most moving moments for her as a makeup artist is a bride who is happy on her most important day, that she pays attention to the right choice of color, the amount and the shading, and that she trains regularly so as not to miss a bridal makeup trend, most recently in March 2019, with a link to the certificate. A heading on the page sums up the approach to bridal makeup: "Alles beginnt mit einem Cüpli", everything begins with a glass of bubbly.
For a bride who cannot come to Steffisburg on the big day, the wedding page offers a service on location, wherever she is getting ready: at home, in a hotel, at the maid of honor's house. It is charged separately: CHF 0.80 per kilometer for the drive, counted there and back, and CHF 63.00 per hour of travel time. The page offers this for the wedding day; it does not say whether the trial can also happen away from the salon. Because both rates are published, a bride can estimate the extra cost from the distance and driving time to where she will get ready.
Booking can be done online through the salon's "Termin online buchen" link, by phone at 033 437 62 87, or by email at the address the site writes as info[at]lockenroll.ch. The payment options listed are "Mastro" and Postfinance. Opening hours: Monday by appointment, Tuesday and Wednesday 08:30 to 18:00, Thursday 07:30 to 20:00, Friday 08:00 to 17:00, and Saturday 08:30 to 16:00. The Thursday opening until 20:00 and the Saturday hours give some room to fit a trial around a working week.
The salon's website includes a references gallery of past wedding hairstyles, showing at least 28 additional photos beyond those featured prominently. A separate references page for wedding hairstyles is linked from the menu, and the makeup page has its own gallery of bridal makeup.
A few things the pages leave open. The site is in German and does not say whether she works in English, so a bride who does not speak German should settle that in her first message. The package prices sit in the PDF price list rather than on the page. The pages do not say how far she will travel, how early she can start on a wedding morning, or whether she can also style bridesmaids and mothers, and they give no deposit or cancellation terms. The service on location is a real help for a bride staying at a hotel, but its cost comes on top of the package, at the published rates of CHF 0.80 per kilometer and CHF 63.00 per hour of travel time.
This salon is well suited to a bride who values a collaborative approach to her look, wants to try different styles before the wedding day, prefers working with one stylist who will see her through both trial and wedding day, and is comfortable traveling to Steffisburg or paying for on-site service. It is less obvious for a large group, since the pages describe packages for the bride only. A bride with clear ideas about what she wants, and who appreciates a stylist who asks questions and takes time to get the details right, will find the personal consultation she describes a good fit, and the decorated place and toast on the morning make the appointment part of the day rather than an errand.
