LS Makeup Artist

The artist and her training

LS Makeup Artist is the business of Lea Schmid, a hair and makeup artist who works from a studio in Safenwil, in the canton of Aargau, or travels to a place of the client's choosing. Her site's tagline, written in English, reads "Styling is a powerful way to effectively reveal something unique about your inner self". The rest of the site is in German. On her About page she introduces herself as an open, creative and cheerful person, and says that for her the work of a makeup artist and hairstylist means bringing out each person's best features and underlining their character. She adds that what fulfills her in the work is meeting so many different people in person and the room it gives her to be creative.

Her training is set out year by year. From 2014 to 2015 she trained as a certified makeup artist and hairstylist (diplomierte Visagistin und Hairstylistin) at the Face Design Visagistenschule in Wetzikon ZH. From 2015 to 2019 she worked as a makeup specialist for consultations and courses at The Body Shop. Since 2015 she has worked as a self-employed freelance hair and makeup artist. She also writes that she does this work alongside her job in a pharmacy (Apotheke), so this is a freelance practice rather than a full-time salon.

Bridal hairstyling courses

The About page lists the further training she has done since, most of it in bridal and event hair:

• 2023, a makeup workshop with Kenessey Beauty in Zurich, and an online bridal hairstyling course with Julia Frachitelli in Germany
• 2024, an online course in hair and makeup skills with Alex Babsky in England

For a bride, the list shows where her attention has gone: most of the courses are about bridal and event hair, so a bride who cares as much about her updo or boho hairstyle as about her makeup is her target client.

Bridal styling

The services section is headed "Brautstyling 2026", with a line saying she would be glad to create a personal wedding styling together with the bride, and a note that 2027 prices are on request. The site does not publish the bridal packages themselves or their prices. It does, however, show how she books weddings: the contact form has a set of required fields for anyone booking a wedding styling, and she asks brides to fill these in so she can handle the request. They ask for the preferred date, the time by which the bride must be styled and out of the house, the address where the styling should happen, which bridal package she is interested in, and whether additional guest stylings are wanted. The form first asks what the inquiry is about (wedding styling, styling for a special occasion, a makeup consultation or something else), then for name and address, phone number and email. Brides can also upload up to three files showing their styling wishes, each of up to 15 MB, which is a practical way for a couple abroad to share inspiration photos before any call. So the site does offer guest styling and bridal packages; it simply leaves the details for the quote.

Other services and prices

The services section lists prices for her other work:

• Evening or shoot makeup (Abendmakeup, Shootingmakeup), expressive and creative, 1 hour, from CHF 100
• Hairstyle for celebrations, shoots or other occasions, CHF 100
• Makeup consultation, a 1:1 session on day makeup with step-by-step tips, CHF 180
• Business clients (fashion, editorial, commercial jobs and day assignments), price on request

Further services are available on request. Gift vouchers can be issued for a specific styling or a chosen amount, and can be sent by post. These prices give a useful sense of her price level for mothers, bridesmaids or guests, even though the bridal packages are quoted separately.

Studio, travel and booking

She styles clients in her studio in Safenwil AG or comes to a place of their choosing. Travel is charged at CHF 1 per kilometer, counted there and back from Safenwil. For a bride getting ready at a hotel or at the venue, that makes the travel cost easy to estimate once the address is known. The site gives the studio's town but no street address or directions.

What the site does not specify

The site does not publish bridal package contents or prices, so the cost of a wedding styling is known only after an inquiry. It does not say whether a trial is part of a bridal package, how many guests she can style on one morning, how far ahead brides should book, or whether a deposit is taken to hold a date. It does not state which languages she works in; apart from the English tagline, the site is in German, so a couple from abroad should ask. Given her pharmacy job, a couple should also confirm her availability for a weekday wedding.

Who this suits

LS Makeup Artist suits a bride marrying in or near Aargau who wants one person for both hair and makeup, with a particular strength in bridal and boho hairstyles backed by recent courses. The travel charge is transparent, and the booking form asks the right questions for a wedding morning, including the time the bride must leave the house. The caveats are the unpublished bridal prices, a German-language site, and a freelancer who works alongside another job, all of which a couple from abroad should settle in the first exchange.
