Marica Roemer is a visagist and hairstylist working from Bergstrasse 52 in CH-6414 Oberarth, who presents her business as "Visagist und Lifestyle". Her site covers wedding styling, makeup for every occasion, hairdressing for women, men and children, and makeup for photo shoots, TV, film and theater. Its references page reads like a long career in stage and screen makeup, including heading the makeup department for several musicals. For a bride, the practical result is a stylist who does both makeup and bridal updos, and who will come to the wedding location on request.

Her background

The references page lists her as a makeup trainer at the Professional Face Styling make up artist school. It lists freelance work for tpc and SF from 2000 to 2007, and Bobbi Brown Cosmetics from 2000 to 2005. In 2006 she sat on the expert jury of the Swiss Make Up Championship (Schweizer Make Up Meisterschaft) at BEAUTY FORUM.

Under "Maske (Leitung)", heading makeup, she lists the musicals Big Fish in Altdorf (2020) and Pippin in Altdorf (2018), Love Marylin with Hanna Scheuring in Zurich (2012), Quickchange at the Operettensommer (from 2008 to the present), «Die Duftsammlerin» in Vienna (2007), the musical Lola Blau in Munich and Zurich (2006 to 2011), the Kollegitheater's Groschenoper in Schwyz (2006), No Way To Treat A Lady in Brunnen (2005), FAME in Schwyz (2002), Annie in Arth (2000) and Mutter Courage with Bühne 66 in Schwyz (1999). Further makeup work includes Manche mögens heiss in Brunnen and La Notte di Fellini in Schwyz (both 2006) and the Hofstatttheater in Schwyz.

She also lists the photographers she has worked with (André Herger, Silvan Bucher, Christian Funke, Fabian Henzmann, Manuel Fischer, Thomi Studhalter, Nori Rickenbacher, Chris Krebs and Isabelle Wiget), film work with Sooli Film GmbH, Till Gmür, Ralph Eichenberger, Silvio Ketterer and Timothy Ross, including the feature film «Tönis Brautfahrt» (Kulturwerk, directed by Claudia Steiner), music videos for Polly Duster in 2010 and 2012, and fashion work for Boutique Gardenia at Kaufleuten Zurich (2005 to 2009) and REDKEN Get inspired at Bally Lab (2008).

Her approach

Two lines on the homepage set out how she works. The first: «Schönheit und Wohlbefinden sind Ausdruck meiner Arbeit. Dies an Sie weitergeben zu dürfen, ist für mich das Schönste an meinem Beruf.» (Beauty and well-being are the expression of my work; being able to pass this on to you is the best part of my job.) The second: «Es ist mir ein Anliegen, in ruhiger und freundlicher Atmosphäre persönlich auf Sie einzugehen.» (It matters to me to respond to you personally in a calm and friendly atmosphere.) She describes her work as bringing out a client's beauty even more with long experience and passion, and offers to help make a wedding, a business appointment or a photo shoot special.

The wedding service

The wedding section says the bride should be the center of attention on her big day and enjoy a professional styling that leaves her feeling naturally beautiful and comfortable. It then sets out 4 steps:

  • Offerte (quote). She prepares a quote based on the details the couple sends.
  • Erster Termin (first appointment). Sketching and planning the styling, with a trial makeup and a trial hairstyle (Probe-Make Up und Probe-Frisur).
  • Hochzeits-Tag (wedding day). The bride comes to her studio for the styling, or, on request, she comes to the bride's home or to the wedding location.
  • Weitere Personen (other people). She is glad to make up and style others for the wedding, such as the maid of honor and wedding guests.

Her offer list names wedding makeup and updos (Aufsteckfrisuren) as the bridal services, so a bride can have both hair and makeup from the same person, including at the trial. For a couple living abroad, the first appointment is the step to plan around: it combines the planning of the look with both trials, so it needs a visit before the wedding, and the site does not say how far ahead it should be. Asking for it to be scheduled close to the wedding date, or on the same trip as other appointments, is worth doing when the quote is requested.

Other services

The offer list covers hairdressing (Coiffure) for women, men and children; day, evening and gala makeup; makeup for photo shoots, TV, film and theater; cosmetic services (lash tinting, eyebrow plucking and eyebrow tinting); and personal makeup lessons for day and evening makeup. The groom can therefore have a haircut with the same stylist, and a bride who wants to do her own makeup for a second event can book a lesson. The site also has a before-and-after gallery.

Contact and getting there

She can be reached at +41 79 455 72 62 or info@visagist.ch, and the contact section links to directions on Google Maps. The site links to her Facebook and Instagram accounts. A couple should send the wedding date, the place where the bride will get ready, the time she needs to be finished and the number of people who want styling, since the quote is built from those details.

What the website does not state

The site publishes no prices, so every cost comes from the quote. It does not say whether travel to the bride's home or the wedding location costs extra, how far she travels, or how long before the wedding the first appointment should be. It does not say where the first appointment takes place, though a studio is mentioned for the wedding day. It gives no opening hours, no deposit or cancellation terms, and no statement of the languages she works in; the site is in German. It does not say how many people she can style on one wedding morning.

Who this suits

Marica Roemer suits a bride marrying in the Oberarth area or elsewhere within reach who wants makeup and an updo from one experienced visagist, with a planning appointment and trial beforehand, and who is happy to settle prices through a quote. Her long list of theater, TV and film credits is the main evidence of experience the site offers. The caveats are the unpublished prices and travel terms and the German-only site, all of which a couple from abroad should settle in the first exchange.
