Bridal Hair and Makeup From Sargans

Mel Beyoutyartist is the business of Melanie Velissaropoulos, a hairdresser, hair and makeup artist and educator with a studio at Grossfeldstrasse 79 in 7320 Sargans, in the canton of St. Gallen. She does both the bridal hairstyle and the bridal makeup, which saves a couple from coordinating two suppliers on the morning of the wedding. The wedding page says she is mobile "in der ganzen Schweiz, Liechtenstein & Österreich" (throughout Switzerland, Liechtenstein and Austria), and a separate destination package covers weddings abroad.

The site is written in German, with a few English headings and package names ("Glamorous Bride", "Trust Me", "Hello, it's me"). None of the pages says which languages she works in, so a couple who does not speak German should ask in the first message.

Training and Career

The about page gives a dated timeline. Between 2005 and 2015 she earned the Swiss federal professional certificate as a women's and men's stylist ("Eidg. Fachausweis Damen- und Herrenstylistin"), trained additionally as a cosmetician, trained as a makeup artist at the Facedesign makeup school, and completed the Master of Color program at the Wella Studio in Zurich. In 2015 she opened a hair and cosmetics salon, beYOUnique, in Heiligkreuz near Mels, and in 2019 the Beauty Salon Beyoutysoul GmbH in Sargans.

Since then the list is almost entirely bridal and hair education abroad:

  • 2019: a one-on-one hair class with Tonya Stylist in St. Petersburg
  • 2019: bridal hair and makeup at the London Hair Academy
  • 2019: an airbrush workshop with Bernhard Klinglmair
  • 2020: CMAD Make-Up Academy, New York
  • 2021: three months with Reveal Hair & Make-up on Oahu, Hawaii
  • 2023: a bridal hairstyling bootcamp with Kassia Fortuna at the Kristina Gaspreis Beauty Academy in London

She describes her aim as underlining natural beauty rather than changing a person, and creating a look the client feels at ease in. The site also offers training courses for other stylists in bridal hair and modern updos, as individual, group or in-salon sessions.

The Bridal Packages

The wedding page sets out five options. Every one of them includes Temptu airbrush foundation.

  • Glamorous Bride: bridal hair and makeup, a trial of the hair and makeup, Temptu airbrush foundation and a "Bridal Guide".
  • Deluxe Bride Standesamt: hair and makeup for the civil ceremony at the registry office, hair and makeup again on the wedding day, one trial, airbrush foundation and the Bridal Guide. This suits couples who hold the civil ceremony and the celebration on different days.
  • Trust Me: bridal hair and makeup without a trial, described as "optimal für Zivilhochzeiten" (ideal for civil weddings), with a preliminary discussion by phone or in writing, the airbrush foundation and the Bridal Guide. The page notes that its services can also be booked individually.
  • Wedding Guests & Brides Maid: hair and makeup for guests and bridesmaids, bookable individually, also with airbrush foundation.
  • Destination Wedding: "Preis auf Anfrage" (price on request). She writes that she travels internationally to the chosen location for the bride's hair and makeup.

The package prices are not printed on the page. Instead, a form offers the price list for every package as a free download ("Freebie") in exchange for a first name and an email address. So the prices exist and can be had before any conversation, which is useful for budgeting from abroad, but a couple has to sign up to see them.

Airbrush Foundation, Products and Extensions

Airbrush foundation is her signature. She calls Temptu her absolute favorite foundation and explains that it is a liquid makeup sprayed onto the skin with gentle air pressure. The page lists its claimed qualities: a flawless natural finish, long-lasting, water and sweat resistant, light to full coverage, barely noticeable on the skin, clean and hygienic application, suitable for all skin types, and a good effect on photos. It also describes the product as vegan, not tested on animals, free of parabens and sulfates, and without alcohol or mineral oil. These are the product claims as the site states them; a bride with sensitive skin or allergies should raise that at the trial or in the first discussion. Beyond Temptu she names MAC, Estée Lauder and Malu Wilz among the brands she works with.

For hair, she offers clip-in extensions of real hair from Rapunzel of Sweden, which can be rented for the wedding day to add volume or length. The page gives the rental price as from CHF 69 ("Mietpreis ab CHF 69.-"). The FAQ headings also include a question about hair accessories.

Booking, and What to Put in the Inquiry

The page sets out a three-step process: the couple calls or fills in the inquiry form, she replies as quickly as possible, a short preliminary discussion follows to agree the next steps, and then comes the styling on the day. The inquiry form asks for the package wanted, the wedding date, the time the bride needs to be ready, and where the styling should take place, so it is worth knowing the getting-ready location before writing.

On the day she comes to the chosen location, a hotel or the bride's home; the about page names eastern Switzerland, Graubünden, Liechtenstein and the Zurich area as the regions she travels in as a mobile artist, while the wedding page speaks of all of Switzerland, Liechtenstein and Austria. Contact is by the form, melbeyoutyartist@gmail.com or +41 76 629 00 80.

What the Site Leaves Open

  • Prices are only available through the download, not on the page.
  • Travel costs for a venue far from Sargans are not stated. The destination package is priced on request, and the site does not say whether travel within Switzerland is included in the standard packages.
  • Language is not addressed anywhere.
  • Assistants. The site presents her as a solo artist. For a large bridal party, ask how many people she can style before the ceremony and whether she brings help.
  • Trial location. The trial is included in two packages, but the pages do not say whether it happens in the Sargans studio or on location, which matters for a bride who lives abroad.
  • Deposit and cancellation terms are not published.

Workshops Outside the Wedding

The workshops page lists sessions in Sargans: a curls and hairstyles workshop, a Make-up Easy Glow workshop, an All About Eyes workshop, a Business Glow workshop that can also be booked for companies, and a Skin Basics care consultation. Single-person workshop prices run from CHF 119 to CHF 279, with lower per-person prices for groups. For a bride who wants to learn to do her own hair for the evening party or for later events, the curls workshop is the obvious one.

Who It Suits

Mel Beyoutyartist suits a bride marrying in eastern Switzerland, Graubünden, Liechtenstein or the Zurich area who wants one person for hair and makeup, likes the idea of airbrush foundation, and has a civil ceremony on a separate day (the Deluxe package covers both). Her documented bridal hair training is the strongest point on the site. The drawbacks for a couple from abroad are the German-only text, prices behind an email sign-up, and a trial that, for most packages, needs to be scheduled before the wedding. A destination couple marrying outside Switzerland can still ask for her destination quote.
