A Latin dance school in Winterthur

Bailemos, which writes its name in lower case as bailemos on much of its site, is a dance school at Werkstrasse 16 in 8400 Winterthur. Its main business is Latin partner dancing: Salsa, Bachata, Kizomba and Rueda de Casino, with Lady Style and Men Style classes, workshops and private lessons. Among its further offers it lists wedding dance courses (Hochzeitstanzkurse), which is why it appears here. For a couple planning a wedding in the Zurich and Winterthur region who would like a first dance with a Latin feel rather than a classic waltz, it is a school built around exactly those styles.

The site is written in German. There is no English version of the homepage, and the school does not say anywhere which languages its teachers work in. Several of the Google reviews shown on the homepage are written in English by students, but that is a sign of who attends, not a promise about the teaching language. A couple who needs lessons in English should ask before booking.

What it offers couples before a wedding

The homepage names "Hochzeitstanz" (wedding dance) alongside its other offers and links to a separate page for wedding dance courses, and it also lists private lessons (Privatstunden). The homepage itself does not describe the wedding course: it gives no format, no number of lessons, no schedule and no price. What it does describe is the school's general approach, and that carries over. The motto is "Dein Tanz. Dein Tempo. Deine Community." (your dance, your pace, your community), and the school says beginners and those who already have dance experience alike learn at their own pace. It describes a clearly structured learning system that goes step by step, from the first step to a confident social dancer.

For beginners, the Salsa trial courses need no previous knowledge, and the school says it simply takes the first steps with you. It also welcomes people without a dance partner, and registration as an individual is possible. That is useful for a couple where one partner wants to start learning before the other can join.

The dance styles

The school's course menu is long. Under Salsa it lists courses for beginners and for advanced dancers, Rueda de Casino, Salsa Cubana, Salsa Menstyle, Salsa Ladystyle and trial lessons. Under Bachata it lists courses, Bachata Ladystyle and trial lessons. Under Kizomba it lists courses, Kizomba Ladystyle, trial lessons and a class called Afro Journey. It also runs Salsa, Salsa Rueda, Bachata and Kizomba workshops, and further offers include Reggaeton, Latin Mix Ladystyle, Salsa summer courses, a dance trip (Tanzreise), a festival and a Rueda Festival. Its "5 reasons" section also mentions Chachacha.

The homepage describes the three main dances in its own words. Of Bachata it says it is perhaps the Latin dance par excellence: passionate and easy to dance. Of Kizomba it writes "Kizomba ist der sinnliche Tanz aus Angola" (Kizomba is the sensual dance from Angola), with gentle movements and pure harmony, and calls it easy to learn. For a first dance, both are worth considering if a couple wants something slower and closer than Salsa.

The studio, the teachers and the club

Under the heading of a great dance school the site lists a central location, good rooms, air conditioning, a dance floor, comfortable lounge furniture, good public transport access, free parking in front of the school and the shared club Sabor Latino. The school is directly connected to the Latin and dance club Sabor Latino, where students can practice in a club atmosphere and get exclusive entry conditions. One review on the homepage mentions Salsa and Bachata parties at the same location on weekends, and another mentions the Sabor Latino matinée. For a couple, that means a place to try their first dance in front of other people before the wedding.

The teaching team is described as motivated and well trained, with a specialist for each dance style. The site does not list the teachers by name on the homepage, but several reviews name Franz as the teacher, praising his precision and the supportive group. The homepage displays a Trustindex badge, which it says is awarded only to businesses with a rating above 4.5 based on reviews from the last 12 months.

On price, the site says the school offers the most interesting prices in Winterthur, and that a student booked into one course can attend all courses of the same level or lower. It publishes no actual prices on the homepage.

Health insurance contributions

The school is a member of the Tanzvereinigung Schweiz (TVS), and the site says its students can therefore benefit from contributions by their health insurer: up to 50 % toward dance courses or workshops, and, with certain insurers such as Swica or Sympany, up to 600 francs back. The school itself tells students to check the exact terms directly with their own insurer.

Booking and contact

The school is open daily from 18 to 22 hours. It can be reached on 079 314 92 01 or by email at bailemos@bluewin.ch, and the site has buttons to call, message on WhatsApp, book a course or open the course calendar. A newsletter sign-up is offered, and the footer links to general terms and to cancellation rules (Stornierungsregeln). Free trial lessons are advertised for the main dances.

What the site leaves open, and who it suits

For a wedding couple, the homepage leaves the main questions open. It does not say how the wedding dance course works, how many lessons it includes, what it costs, whether it is a group course or private coaching, whether a choreography is built to your song, or how far ahead to start. It does not say whether teachers come to a wedding venue or teach only in Winterthur, and it does not state a teaching language. All of that has to be settled by phone, email or WhatsApp.

Bailemos suits couples living in or near Winterthur who want a Latin first dance, a school with an active social scene, and the chance to keep dancing after the wedding. Free parking and the connected club are practical advantages. It is less of a fit for a couple who needs everything in English, or for anyone who wants the details and price of a wedding package settled online before making contact.
