A social partner-dance school in Zurich Oerlikon
Leroc, or Leroc Zürich, is a partner-dance school whose classes and parties take place at the Kinexis Studio in Oerlikon, Zurich. It teaches West Coast Swing, Modern Blues and Fusion, Modern Jive (the site tags it "Modern Jive / Ceroc™") and a creative take on Standard and Latin. Its tagline is "Feel the Music. Share the Dance.", and its subtitle is "The easy way to learn partner dancing since 2013". Among its additional services is a wedding dance, offered as private preparation for couples.
For an international couple, the most useful fact is the language: the site is published in English, with a German version alongside, and the teachers write their own profiles in English. That makes it easy for a couple who does not speak German to read the offer, although the site does not state in so many words which language lessons are taught in.
The wedding dance
The wedding offer is short and personal: "You are looking for a unique wedding dance that matches your personal story? You have come to the right place! Contact us to organize your first lesson." It sits under additional services, next to private lessons, and links to a page called Wedding preparation. The homepage does not describe the format, the number of lessons or the price, so those have to be asked.
What the homepage does describe is the method, and that is what a wedding couple would be buying into. The school's pitch is: "Learn partner dancing the easy way: start with the flow and be ready to dance socially in less time than you would imagine!" Its method, it says, focuses on simple moves and partner connection, building confidence before adding more complex figures and footwork. For a couple who wants a first dance that feels natural rather than a memorized routine, that approach fits. The site describes its styles in one line each. West Coast Swing is "a social partner dance with smooth elasticity and musicality"; Modern Blues and Fusion is "a blend of blues, tango and zouk on slow modern music"; Modern Jive is "an easy-to-learn dance that fits any music and any dance floor". For a couple who wants a classic waltz, the Standard and Latin classes are there too, described as "a creative way to learn ballroom dancing".
Private lessons are offered separately for anyone who wants to explore specific aspects of their dance, and the school invites people to read about its method and get in touch to arrange one.
The teachers
The school has two named teachers, Eric and Carmen. Eric writes that he discovered his love for dancing in 2005 in New Zealand and has not stopped moving since, visiting dance floors and festivals for West Coast Swing, Lindy Hop, Blues and Tango. He founded Leroc Zürich in 2013, which he describes as "the very first modern jive group in Switzerland", and attended the SwingStep Teaching Summit to sharpen his teaching skills.
Carmen fell in love with modern jive over 20 years ago, and has since moved through West Coast Swing, Blues, Tango and Bachata. What she enjoys most, she writes, is catching fleeting moments on the dance floor when both partners hear something in the music and create something that exists only in that instant.
Together, Eric and Carmen won 3rd place in the "Bluest Blues" (2024) and "Tangoesque Blues" (2025) categories at the Crystal Blues Challenge.
Classes, starter workshops and parties
For couples who want a quick start before or alongside private wedding lessons, the school runs a starter workshop called West Coast Swing in a Day, with dates on September 20, 2026 and October 18, 2026, each from 14:00 to 17:00 at Kinexis Studio. It promotes these as inspiring workshops that will have you dancing confidently in no time.
Regular classes include West Coast Swing Improvers (September 21, 2026, 19:30 to 20:30) and a Special Technique Workshop in Fusion and Modern Blues (September 28, 2026, 19:30 to 21:00). September is Special Topics Month, with classes every Monday at 18.15 on close position (which the class description likens to a merry-go-round on the dance floor), dancing as a conversation in which both partners suggest and respond, and shaping the dance with music. In summer the school has met in Irchel Park.
Social dancing is part of the package. AcouSwing ZH is a social dance evening at Kinexis Studio from 20:30 to 23:00, with dates on September 21 and October 5, 2026, open to Fusion and Modern Blues, Modern Jive and West Coast Swing dancers. The menu also lists the Fusion Club, the Swing'n'Smooth party and The Lab, a week-ender, and the school ran a workshop with guest teachers Neil & Ellie, part of a series in which guest teachers bring fresh ideas. It also organizes weekenders and holidays in England, France or Germany, and says everyone is welcome.
What students say
The homepage quotes three students. UTA describes Leroc nights as pure joy, with intuitive moves, varied music, welcoming people, and Eric and Carmen as incredibly patient teachers. SHERIDA joined in summer, dancing in the park, and writes that the instructors create a space for anyone to jump in and learn, even beginners: "There are no intricate steps to master, rather it is a flow of feeling what your partner is giving you and responding". PASCAL calls Carmen and Eric "some of the very best instructors around" and recommends their Smooth Partner Dancing course for learning to lead and follow without remembering steps or figures.
What the site leaves open
The homepage gives no prices for classes, private lessons or wedding preparation. It names the Kinexis Studio in Oerlikon but gives no street address, directions or parking information. It does not say how many lessons a wedding dance usually takes, how far ahead to start, or whether lessons can be held at the wedding venue.
Who it suits
Leroc suits couples in Zurich, especially English speakers, who want a first dance built on connection and musicality rather than a fixed ballroom routine, and who might enjoy a social dance scene after the wedding. Modern Blues, which the site sets to slow modern music, is an obvious candidate for a first dance to a contemporary song. Complete beginners are clearly welcome. The caveats are that the wedding offer is described in a single paragraph, and that prices and the studio address have to be requested.
