Sugyp SA

Tap a star to rate

Sugyp SA is a pyrotechnics company based in Corcelles-près-Payerne in the canton of Vaud, in French-speaking Switzerland. Its English page says it designs tailor-made displays "for weddings, birthdays, corporate events and major events, in Switzerland and abroad", and its French homepage says it has practiced its four activities with passion for more than 50 years. For a couple planning a wedding in Switzerland who want a fireworks finale, it is a large, established producer with an English-language section of its website, which is not a given in this trade.

Scale and track record

The English page opens with the numbers: "We produce more than 450 firework displays a year, including over 250 for 1st August festivities." The 1st of August is the Swiss national day, when towns and villages across the country put on displays, so a large share of the company's work is concentrated around that date. A couple marrying on or near the national day should raise that early, since it is plainly the busiest point of the company's year.

The company is led by brothers Nicolas and Jean-Pascal Guinand. Its stated principles appear in a short quote signed by the whole team: "The keywords of our activity are innovation, quality and safety."

The news section reports that Sugyp won the Grand Prix at the international fireworks competition "RegioJet Ignis Brunensis" in Brno, in the Czech Republic, with the display presented on the night of 1 to 2 July 2026. The same page says the company also received the prize for the best musical accompaniment, and that the jury was impressed by the creativity, technical precision and the synchronization between music and pyrotechnic effects. Sugyp had previously won the same Grand Prix in 2013. The page's own framing is that this second win places the company "amongst the world's leading fireworks artists."

One small inconsistency is worth knowing about: further down the same English page, the History and References teasers still carry older wording ("over 40 years", "more than 400 firework displays a year, including over 200 for 1st August festivities"). The French homepage and the top of the English page use the larger figures.

What it offers for a wedding

The English page groups its services into several types. Couples should read them carefully, because not all of them are wedding services.

  • Sound and light firework displays. Under the name Pyro melodic, Sugyp sets fireworks to music, offering "both standard displays or custom-built for you." For a wedding this is the obvious fit, and it is the area the Brno award for musical accompaniment speaks to.
  • Catalogue displays. A catalog of ready-designed displays, aimed at events and the national day. The page says the catalog for 2026 to 2027 is presented in French, with a German version on the German part of the site.
  • Indoor fireworks and special effects. For stage effects and indoor displays, the page says "Our pyrotechnists with a BF permit will be able to implement special effects adapted to your event."
  • Multimedia shows. "For several years now, we've been offering shows using these new technologies: image projections, lasers, water fountains, lighting and drones."
  • Flame shows. Liquid or gas flame generators, fixed or motorized, which the page says allow shows indoors and outdoors "with short safety distances."

The first item on the list, Public Firework Displays, is not a service a couple books. It describes the consumer products Sugyp distributes (rocket assortments, cakes, volcanoes, Bengal matches), and the page states "No direct sales!" Distribution is one of the company's separate activities.

Legislation and permits, in the company's words

Fireworks in Switzerland are classed in categories, and Sugyp's site has pages on both the classification and the legislation for category F4 products. The English page says the category F3 consumer products it distributes "do not require a firing permit", and it presents its indoor work as carried out by pyrotechnists holding a BF permit. Beyond that, the page does not say who arranges authorization for a private wedding display, or what a venue has to provide. That is a question for Sugyp and for the venue, not something to assume.

Working with Sugyp from abroad

The site has an English section for fireworks, but the downloads are not in English: the catalog and the General Terms and Conditions are both marked "Download (in French)", and the catalog also exists in German. The homepage and most of the company pages are in French. The page does not say which languages the team plans and corresponds in, so a couple who need to work in English should ask at the first contact.

Contact is by phone or email. The English page lists Z.i. des Troches 1, CH-1562 Corcelles-près-Payerne, telephone +41 24 445 44 33 and info@sugyp.com, and closes with "Do not hesitate to contact our team; we will be delighted to answer all your questions." For catalog questions the page asks people to call.

What the site does not settle

The site publishes no prices for custom or wedding displays; the catalog and the terms are downloads rather than figures on the page. It gives no booking lead time and no deposit rule on the page itself, though the General Terms and Conditions may cover some of this, and they are in French. It does not say whether the team visits a wedding venue beforehand, how weather or a canceled display is handled, or how far abroad it will travel beyond the phrase "in Switzerland and abroad."

The page also does not name past wedding venues. There is a References page and a video page with a selection of shows, but no wedding examples appear on the pages. Asking for footage of a comparable wedding display is a reasonable request.

Other things the site says about the company

Two further sections say something about how the company positions itself. Under eco-responsibility, it says it takes responsibility for the greenhouse gas emissions caused by the production, import, transport and use of fireworks and finances climate protection projects of the myclimate foundation in the amount of the calculated emissions. And it supports Pro Feuerwerk, an association working to protect the Swiss fireworks industry in the face of a federal initiative to ban fireworks. A couple should be aware that the regulatory setting for fireworks in Switzerland is a live political topic, though nothing on the page says private wedding displays are currently affected.

Who it suits

Sugyp suits a couple who want fireworks treated as a show rather than a few rockets at midnight: a display timed to music, or a mix with lasers, projections, flames or drones. It is a good fit for weddings in Romandy, where the company is based, and its English page makes a first contact easier for couples who do not speak French. It suits less well a couple who want to settle everything in English on paper, since the terms and catalogs are in French and German, and anyone marrying around the 1st of August should expect to compete with the busiest period on the company's calendar.
