WECO Suisse AG

Tap a star to rate

WECO Suisse AG is a Swiss fireworks company that deals only in fireworks and 1st of August articles, and its company page says it is regarded as a leader in Swiss retail for them. Alongside that trade, the same page says it stages fireworks for events such as weddings, birthdays, company anniversaries and municipal celebrations. For a couple, that makes it a possible supplier for a wedding display, with the caveat that the website is built around the shop and the product catalog rather than around event work.

What the company says about itself

The company page is short and in German, and it is the main source for everything below. Its opening sentence reads: "Die WECO Suisse AG handelt ausschließlich mit Feuerwerk und 1. August-Artikeln und gilt als führend im schweizerischen Detailhandel." In English: WECO Suisse AG trades exclusively in fireworks and 1st of August articles and is considered a leader in Swiss retail. The 1st of August is the Swiss national day, when fireworks are part of the celebrations in towns and gardens across the country.

The page goes on to say that the focus is the traditional trade in large and small fireworks ("Gross- und Kleinfeuerwerk"), and then: "Ferner veranstaltet sie Feuerwerke für Events wie Hochzeiten, Geburtstage, Firmenjubiläen, Gemeindefeiern und Anlässe aller Art." That is, it also organizes fireworks for events such as weddings, birthdays, company anniversaries, municipal celebrations and occasions of all kinds. The word "ferner" (furthermore) is telling: event displays are presented as a secondary line next to the trade.

The site navigation includes a section called Profi-Feuerwerk (professional fireworks), alongside Standorte (locations), Technik & Produktion (technology and production), Verantwortung (responsibility), an online shop, a product catalog and downloads. The company page does not describe the event side in any more detail, so what a wedding display from WECO looks like, how long it runs and whether it can be set to music are all open.

Products, partners and quality testing

The page puts three words together as a heading for its approach: "Sortiment, Sicherheit und Qualität", meaning range, safety and quality. It says that close cooperation with partner firms in Germany, Austria, Holland and France allows WECO Suisse to develop its own products continuously and to set new trends.

On testing, it describes a multi-stage quality inspection from manufacture to the consumer. The fireworks are checked in the country of origin during production and again before transport, and further tests are carried out in Walterswil. That is the one Swiss location the company page names, and it tells a couple where the company has a base, though the page does not give a street address or say whether event displays are planned from there.

The WECO Group behind it

WECO Suisse is part of the WECO Group. The company page describes the group as a leading company in fireworks, both as a trader and above all as a manufacturer, with three production sites in Germany. It adds that at least a third of total sales already comes from articles made in the group's own German factories.

For a wedding, the practical meaning of this is limited. It says the company has a steady supply of product behind it. It does not say anything about the pyrotechnicians who would fire a display at a Swiss wedding venue, their training, or how many event displays the company stages each year. Those are questions for the first call.

How to get in touch

The contact page offers a form in German, with fields for salutation, surname, first name, email address, telephone, subject and a comment. The page says messages are forwarded directly to the relevant department. It also sets expectations on timing: an answer takes between 24 and 48 hours, and in season up to 5 to 10 working days. The page does not say when its season runs, so a couple should allow for the longer window when planning.

There are two telephone numbers on the site. The contact page gives the direct line 062 887 74 00 and the email address info(at)weco-suisse.ch (written with "(at)" in place of the @ sign). The footer on every page carries a hotline for the online shop, 032 385 22 22, staffed Monday to Friday from 09:00 to 16:00, for telephone support and advice. The hotline is labeled for the shop, so wedding inquiries are better sent to the direct line or by email.

What the site does not settle

The website is in German only, and no page mentions English, French or Italian. A couple who do not read German should expect to write their first message in German or in simple English and to ask whether the event team can plan in English.

The site publishes no prices for event displays and no packages. It does not say how far ahead a wedding display should be booked, whether someone visits the venue beforehand, how weather or a postponement is handled, or which regions of Switzerland the event team covers. The company and contact pages show no photos or descriptions of past wedding displays, and no references. The company page mentions safety as a priority but says nothing about who arranges any authorization needed for a display at a private wedding; that is a question to put to WECO and to the venue.

Retail as well as events

One thing the retail side does offer a couple is a shop. WECO sells fireworks to the public through its online shop and product catalog, and its trade covers small fireworks as well as large ones. Some couples want a display fired by professionals; others want something smaller for guests. The site does not describe which of its retail products are suitable for use at a wedding venue, and a venue may have its own rules about what guests may light, so check with the venue before buying anything for guests to use.

Who it suits

WECO Suisse suits a couple who read German, or have someone who does, and who want a fireworks supplier with a large product range behind it. It is a reasonable first call for a display at a wedding in German-speaking Switzerland, where the company's pages are written. It suits less well a couple who want to see a portfolio of wedding shows, a price guide or an English-language planning process before making contact, because the site offers none of those. The honest approach is to send a short inquiry with the date, the venue and the guest count, ask what a wedding display from WECO involves and what it costs, and allow for the in-season response time the contact page itself warns about.
