A videographer from just across the border
Christopher is a wedding videographer who films under the name ca-hochzeitsvideo.de; the site footer gives his full name as Christopher Aschenbrenner. He writes that he lives "im malerischen Schwarzwald, direkt an der Schweizer Grenze", in the picturesque Schwarzwald directly on the Swiss border, and his Basel page is headed "Hochzeitsvideo Basel & Umgebung", wedding video in Basel and the surrounding area. The site also has a page for Freiburg. For couples marrying in Basel, or in Switzerland with family on the German side, he is a local option who prices in euros and works across both countries.
The site is in German and addresses couples with the informal "ihr". It does not say whether he works in English.
How he describes his role
The page puts his role in one image: on the wedding day he is "wie ein stiller Begleiter", like a silent companion, who picks up the big and small moments with a fine sense for them and turns them into a wedding video. He writes that he is invisible but always present, and that he is more than a service provider: an unobtrusive companion who lets the couple enjoy the day to the full.
His stated core is the real, unposed moment. The heading of his introduction says that for him as a wedding videographer "die echten, unverstellten Momente" are the heart of his work. Outside weddings, he writes that he loves playing guitar and being active in nature, and that this passion for creativity and naturalness flows into each film, which he describes as authentic, artful and made with attention to detail.
One testimonial adds a useful nuance: Clara and Joshua write that besides making authentic videos he also gives direction at the right moments. So "silent companion" does not mean he never steps in.
What the film includes
The FAQ sets out the product:
- Highlight video: depending on the booking, about 3 to 8 minutes, with the best moments of the wedding set to music. If the couple or people close to them give speeches, excerpts with the original sound are worked into the video.
- Optional extras: a separate video of all the speeches, or a FOMO-Edit, which he describes as a long cut.
- Raw material: besides the FOMO-Edit, couples can get individual tripod recordings (for example of the ceremony or a speech) separately.
- Photos: on the wedding day he concentrates fully on video. He recommends photographers he works with and can optionally provide highlight stills taken from the video footage.
Prices and delivery
The site gives price guidance. His FAQ says: "Meine Hochzeitsvideos starten ab 1.600 €, die meisten Paare investieren zwischen 1.900–2.600 €." His wedding videos start from 1,600 euros, and most couples spend between 1,900 and 2,600 euros. He writes that every film is individual because location, schedule and wishes always differ, and suggests a short phone call so that he can put together a personal offer. The site navigation also has a price list page.
On delivery, the FAQ says the finished wedding video usually arrives within about 2 to 3 weeks. Several testimonials confirm this, one saying the video arrived after 2 to 3 weeks, exactly within the promised time, and others that it came faster than they expected.
What couples say
The page carries a long run of testimonials, all in German. Melanie and Roman, marked "(CH)", felt well looked after from the start: the first video call was warm, communication by WhatsApp and phone was quick and easy, and on the day he was punctual, professional and pleasantly unobtrusive. They liked the result enough to give him a tip. Katharina and Hansjörg, who married in July, write that he responded to every wish and that the highlight video moved them to tears. Ramona and Minh call communication easy and praise the good, quick editing and the way he takes wishes on board. Sarah and Daniel joke that he should send tissues with future videos. Lidija and Enrico thank him for how fast he edited the film. The page also links to 3 sample wedding films, for Angela and Andreas, Shaniva and Thomas, and Clara and Joshua, and to an Instagram account, ca_hochzeitsvideo.de, where one post mentions an after-wedding video.
For a couple from Switzerland, the "(CH)" note matters: at least one of the quoted couples is Swiss.
Where he works
Besides Basel, the page lists the places he also travels to: Karlsruhe, Konstanz, Stuttgart, Nürnberg, Frankfurt, Lörrach, Heidelberg, Heilbronn, Ulm, Wehr, Basel and Zürich. In Switzerland that means Basel and Zurich by name. The page does not say whether he charges travel costs for either, or whether he takes weddings elsewhere in Switzerland.
He also lists partners and recommendations: Steffi Haufe Hast Photodesign, photographer Matthias Bach, the florist Blumen Maier, the planners Emotions Lörrach and White Weddings, and Räuberhöhle & Schwanenstüble. The page gives no addresses or details for them, but a couple who books him can ask which of these partners he has worked with at Swiss weddings, and whether the photographers he names cover Basel.
What the site does not settle
- Language: the site is German only. A couple who does not speak German should ask whether he works in English for the planning calls and follows an English ceremony.
- Coverage hours: the FAQ does not say how many hours a standard booking covers.
- Crew and equipment: the page does not say whether he works alone or with a second videographer, or what equipment he uses.
- Swiss logistics: nothing on travel fees to Switzerland or on how he invoices Swiss couples.
Who he suits
Christopher suits couples in the Basel region, or couples marrying on either side of the German border, who want a short, emotional highlight film with speeches in original sound, a fast delivery and a clear price range before they call. The published range makes budgeting easy from abroad.
He suits less well a couple who needs a full documentary edit of the whole day as standard (the FOMO-Edit and tripod recordings are extras), or one who needs the planning conversations in English without checking first.
