Unposed wedding films with urban energy
DSVisuel is Deborah Stumpe, a trained mediamatician based in Lausanne who films weddings as observed, unposed documentary pieces rather than staged productions. She came to video from more than twenty years of dancing in hip-hop and commercial urban dance, and the wedding page leans on that background: she says she comes from an urban world that likes things raw, authentic and alive. Her pitch is that a wedding is not a Pinterest set but the couple's own day, energy, people and emotions. She films the glances, the reassuring gestures, the friends laughing and the moments the couple will not even notice at the time but that become part of their story.
The homepage lists the wedding occasions she covers as civil ceremonies, religious ceremonies, secular ceremonies and the party. Besides weddings she makes creative and promotional videos for artists, sport and coaching, products and spaces, and edits clips from footage clients send her.
On the homepage the wedding offer is summed up as elegant, sensitive films meant to hold the essence of the day and turn it into a timeless keepsake. The wedding page closes its introduction with a simple test for couples: if they want a film that breathes, sounds right and genuinely resembles them, she writes, then they are on the same page. That tone, informal and direct, runs through the whole site.
How the process works
The wedding page describes three stages. Before the wedding, the couple writes to her, they talk by phone and then meet, and the couple talks through their day, their vibe, what they like and what they definitely do not want. She calls it a real exchange without jargon or fuss, and says it matters to her to know a couple a little before filming them. The about page adds that this first exchange commits nobody and that a tailored quote, with several options, follows only if the chemistry is there.
On the day she is present from the preparations onward, working discreetly. She blends into the setting, lets things happen and catches what matters. She promises no requests to do something again and no awkward poses, summed up as "Je filme la vie, pas un scénario." (I film life, not a script). She also flies a drone, and the page says it is used with taste rather than to make a tourist clip.
After the wedding she sorts, edits and shapes the footage, working every shot so the film is fluid, sincere and modern: a film, she writes, that a couple will want to watch again rather than just store.
What the full-day package includes
The wedding package is designed to cover the whole day from preparations to the evening. The site lists:
- full presence on the wedding day
- reportage from the preparations
- drone footage, included depending on conditions
- a main film of 3 to 5 minutes in landscape format
- a short film for social media
- final delivery within 8 to 10 weeks
- travel in French-speaking Switzerland and abroad
Two videos are delivered: the main film, the complete version that tells the story, and a shorter, more dynamic version meant for sharing on social media. The couple is entitled to three rounds of changes, adjusted together so the film feels like them without, as she puts it, distorting her style. Delivery comes in two forms: an elegant USB key sent by post and carefully packaged, and a private link for viewing, downloading and sharing. The site stresses that there is no complicated platform involved.
Options on request
For couples who want more than the single day, the site lists extras quoted individually: video over several days (a welcome dinner or a brunch, for example), an engagement or after-wedding session, a long documentary video, interviews and messages from family and friends, and extra short edits for social media. This matters for destination weddings that stretch across a weekend, since the multi-day option is named outright.
Background and experience
Deborah's route into video runs through dance. She started filming her travels with an old GoPro 3, and when dance competitions began asking groups for presentation videos, she began filming to give those images a real identity, aiming, in her words, to "sublimer les danseurs" (make the dancers shine) and tell their energy, attitude and presence.
In 2019 she entered a music video competition and won first prize at the TalentScreen Award. The prize was the chance to direct the official video for the artist SIM'S, "Nous Contre Eux", released at the start of 2020, just before COVID reached Switzerland, as she notes. Her projects page also lists work as art director, editor and videographer for the singer Robin Wave, several videos for the Neptune dance school in Vevey, and a promotional film for a massage therapy practice. She describes her style today as resolutely urban and dynamic, close to a mini music video.
What the site does not settle
The site publishes no prices for weddings. The package contents are listed, and the extras are marked as quoted on request, so a couple needs to ask for a quote. The whole site is in French and says nothing about working in English or German, which a couple from abroad should confirm in the first conversation, since that exchange is where the brief for the film is set. It gives no booking lead time and no guidance on how far ahead to reserve. Travel abroad is offered, but how travel costs are charged is not stated. Contact runs through info@dsvisuel.ch and a contact page; no phone number is listed.
Who this suits
DSVisuel suits couples who want a short, rhythmic film that feels like them rather than a template, and who are comfortable being filmed candidly with little posing. The urban, music-video edit will appeal to couples who like energetic cuts and modern pacing. Couples marrying in French-speaking Switzerland, or abroad with a Lausanne-based videographer traveling to them, are the natural fit, and the multi-day option helps with weekend-long celebrations.
It fits less well for couples who want a long, formal ceremony film as the main product, since the core package centers on a 3 to 5 minute film, though a long documentary is available as an extra. Couples who need the film within a few weeks should note the stated 8 to 10 week delivery window.
