SOMA Films
Tap a star to rate
SOMA Films is the wedding video business of Soma, a wedding videographer from Zurich who films weddings in Switzerland and abroad. Her offer page sets out 3 packages by hours of coverage, each ending in a 4K highlight film with professionally recorded vows and speeches, music and drone footage, and then lists the extras and answers the practical questions couples usually ask. The site is written in German.
The 3 packages
Every package produces the same kind of film: a highlight film with professional audio recordings of the vows, speeches and toasts, in 4K, set to music and including drone shots. What changes is how much of the day she covers.
- Für Immer (forever), 12 hours: from a drone flight at sunrise to the party at midnight, so that no moment of the day is missed.
- Herzklopfen (heartbeat), 10 hours, marked "meist gebucht" (most booked): the whole day, for example from getting ready to dessert.
- Klein & Fein (small and fine), 8 hours: described as ideal for elopements or shorter, smaller celebrations.
The page title mentions prices, but no prices are shown on the page. Soma says she answers questions about products and prices in the free first meeting.
The extras
The page lists five add-ons, for nostalgics, the extravagant and the impatient, as she puts it:
- Pre-Wedding Shooting: a short couple shoot at a favorite place, with the footage used in the highlight film. She suggests it even for couples who plan a couple shoot on the wedding day, as a stress-free way to get more footage, at sunset on a mountain, for example, or barefoot on the sofa at home.
- Social Media Paket: two short vertical videos of the wedding for Instagram Reels, Stories or TikTok.
- Alle Reden und Ansprachen: the complete speeches and toasts delivered separately, instead of only the excerpts in the highlight film.
- Priority Edit: the film delivered in four weeks instead of the usual eight.
- All Day Edit: a separate, longer film with all the good footage of the day cut in chronological order, color graded and set to music. Its length depends on the wedding and runs between 15 and 45 minutes.
For a couple with family abroad, the full speeches and the All Day Edit are the extras most worth considering: relatives who could not travel get to hear the speeches in full rather than in a few seconds of the highlight film.
How she films
The FAQ answers the technical question directly. She uses only professional video cameras and films in 4K, so the film stays sharp on a large screen or a projector. Several microphones record the vows, the first look and the speeches. When the weather allows, she films the venue and its surroundings from the air with a drone.
On the about page, she writes that she combines cinema-quality footage with audio of speeches, vows and sound design, and that her films are authentic, without staged moments. "Kein Posing nach Schema F oder verlegene Blicke in die Kamera," she writes (no formula posing or awkward looks into the camera). She mostly stays in the background and occasionally adjusts a scene to show it in the best light, and says she brings positive energy and a calm, experienced manner to the day.
Booking and delivery
Couples start with the contact form. If the date is free, Soma arranges a free first meeting, because she is always close to the couple on the day and wants the chemistry to be right. The meeting takes about 30 minutes to an hour and can happen online via Zoom or in a café in Zurich. She recommends getting in touch six months to a year before the wedding, and says short-notice bookings can also work. The page announces that bookings for 2026 are open.
The finished film arrives eight weeks after the wedding. In the summer high season it can take up to a maximum of 12 weeks. She says she takes the time needed for the storyline, editing, color and audio, to deliver a film couples will still enjoy in 50 years.
Travel and reliability
Asked where she is available, she answers that whether in the Swiss Alps, in Zurich or abroad, she is in principle keen on any destination. The site does not say how travel costs are charged.
The FAQ also covers what happens if she cannot attend. She says it has never happened that she missed a wedding shoot, but if illness or an accident stopped her, she would do everything to find a replacement videographer, and couples who do not want a replacement get a full refund.
On publication, she shows her past work on social media and her website and says she depends on that portfolio, but that her clients' privacy matters more; couples who do not want their film posted online can discuss it with her.
What couples say
The offer page carries five short reviews in German, in which she is called Somara. Nici, a bride, writes that she and her husband were not used to being filmed but that Somara had good ideas, helped with tips and kept the mood pleasant all day. Diana says she reacted spontaneously to last-minute wishes and built small surprises into the video. Stefan, a groom, says they got even more than they expected. Noëmi, a wedding planner, praises her calm, professional manner and writes: "Mit ihr zusammenzuarbeiten ist unkompliziert und man kann sich auf sie verlassen" (working with her is uncomplicated and you can rely on her).
What the site does not settle
No prices are published, and travel costs are not stated. The site is in German and does not say whether Soma works in English, so an English-speaking couple should ask in the first message whether the meeting and the day can run in English. It does not say whether she works alone or brings a second camera operator, and it gives no deposit or cancellation terms beyond the illness and accident rule.
Who it suits
SOMA Films suits couples who want long, full-day coverage with properly recorded vows and speeches, and who like clear packages and clear delivery times. The extras make it easy to add a longer film or the full speeches for family who could not attend. The caveats are the German-only site and the unpublished prices.
