Who YOU MEDIA is

YOU MEDIA is a creative agency in Horw, just outside Lucerne, run as YOU MEDIA GmbH by its managing director Kai Schöne. The agency has existed under that name since 2022 and describes itself as working for small and medium-sized businesses, start-ups and institutions in central Switzerland and beyond, combining consulting, design, websites, photography, film and marketing in one team. Wedding films are one strand of its video work rather than the core of the business, and a couple should read the listing with that in mind.

Kai Schöne introduces himself on the About page as the person who looks after each project personally and then carries it out with his team. He writes that he has been designing media for brands and companies for more than 15 years, that he trained as a Mediengestalter (media designer), a training he says joins the creative idea to its practical production, and that in his earlier agency career he worked as a Senior Art Director on projects for brands such as Volkswagen, Red Bull, Milka, Teekanne and Werder Bremen.

The wedding films

The wedding section of the video portfolio is headed "Erinnerungen in Bewegung" (memories in motion). It shows two films: one of a wedding in Florence and one of the wedding of Vivien and René, a film dated 07.08.21 on the page and branded yourweddingstory. The agency says the focus of both is on personal moments and the atmosphere of the day, and it describes them as two self-contained stories that go further than a single photograph can.

The same page is candid that this selection shows earlier work in wedding film. That matters. The one film that carries a date is from 2021, and the rest of the portfolio, which has been refreshed more recently, is dominated by commercial projects. A couple choosing a wedding videographer is used to scrolling through dozens of weddings; here there are two.

What the rest of the portfolio does show is range. The video overview is sorted into companies and products, events, series and podcasts, automotive, weddings, drone videos and AI videos. Among the named projects are an event film and teaser for the IT Leaders Summit, a video podcast of 6 episodes and training films for Careum, a cooking format, product and process films, automotive films, drone footage over Engelberg and the Titlis, and a series of short location films from places such as Brienz, the Arnisee and Andermatt. There is also an event campaign around the Samichlaus (the Swiss Saint Nicholas) in Lucerne told in 4 films, and a Vespa film shot in Italy. For a wedding, the relevant takeaways are that the team shoots events, is comfortable with drone work and edits for story rather than simply recording in sequence.

How a project starts

The contact page is set up for business clients, but the process it describes applies just as well to a wedding. You write a short message about the project and the timeframe you have in mind, the agency discusses the task with you and clarifies what information is still missing, and only then does a defined scope follow, with what the page calls a transparent quote ("einer transparenten Offerte"). The page also says you do not need to arrive with a finished idea: an open idea can be sorted out in a first conversation.

On geography, the contact page answers the obvious question directly. Asked whether the agency also works outside central Switzerland, it says yes, and that the collaboration can happen in person or digitally depending on the job. The site footer describes the agency as serving companies throughout Switzerland. The office is at Gemeindehausplatz 6 in 6048 Horw, and the contact details published there are the email address info@you-media.ch and the mobile number +41 79 792 21 33. The structured data on the site gives office hours of Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 18:00.

The tone throughout is informal Swiss German. The contact section is headed "Dein direkter Draht" (your direct line), and Kai Schöne greets visitors with a Swiss German hoi.

What the site does not settle

For a couple planning from abroad, most of the practical questions are still open after reading the site:

  • Language. The whole site is in German, and there is no English version and no statement about working in English. Ask about this in your first email.
  • Price. The site publishes no wedding prices and no packages. Every project runs through the quote process above.
  • What a wedding film includes. Film length, number of camera operators, hours of coverage, whether a short highlight film comes with a longer edit, delivery time and music licensing are not described anywhere.
  • Current wedding work. Because the page presents the two wedding films as earlier work, ask whether weddings are still an active part of the business and whether there are more recent films to see.
  • Weekends. The published office hours are weekdays only, which says nothing about wedding days themselves, but it is worth confirming Saturday availability early.

Who it suits

YOU MEDIA suits a couple marrying in or around Lucerne who likes the idea of a film made by people whose daily work is commercial storytelling, and who is comfortable dealing in German or happy to test the English question first. The agency background brings real advantages: event experience, drone work, and a structured process with an agreed scope and quote before anything starts. A couple who also wants photography or a small wedding website might find it convenient that the same team offers photo, film and web work, though the site does not describe a combined wedding package.

The caveats are equally clear. This is not a wedding specialist, the wedding portfolio is two films the agency itself labels as earlier work, and there is nothing on the site aimed at couples from abroad. A couple who wants a dedicated wedding filmmaker with a deep archive of Swiss weddings to compare will find little to compare here, and a couple who does not speak German should expect to open the conversation by asking whether it can continue in English.
