fresh & joy is a catering and party service company based at Balierstrasse 15 in Frauenfeld, the capital of canton Thurgau, operating as fresh & joy AG. It caters weddings, company events and private parties within 50 km of Frauenfeld, hosts small events in its own wine-shop venue, the Giardino del Vino, and helps couples find a venue among a long list of event locations in the region.
Who they are
The homepage headline is "Alpine Leidenschaft auf Ihrem Teller" (Alpine passion on your plate), and the company describes its food as ranging from Swiss cuisine to international dishes, made to measure for each occasion. The "Über uns" page tells a short history. In 2013 the founders started catering as a side business. In 2016 they founded fresh & joy Catering, serving officially in the Hannover region of Germany. In 2019 they pushed the development of the catering and events business forward, and in 2023 they founded fresh & joy AG in Switzerland as a new branch. So the Swiss company is young, but the team has catered for longer.
The mission, in the site's words, is driven by passion for outstanding gastronomy, new concepts and meeting individual wishes, "Durch Engagement, Kreativität und Teamwork" (through commitment, creativity and teamwork).
The wedding offer
The party service FAQ names weddings among the private celebrations it caters, alongside baptisms and birthdays, and describes the approach as an individually tailored "Rundum-sorglos-Paket" (all-round, worry-free package) for food and drinks, covering planning, preparation and the event itself so that the hosts can concentrate on their guests. For larger events the team says it works with reliable partners.
The food comes in 4 formats, each with its own tagline on the party service page: Fingerfood (small bites with a big effect), Buffet (an opulent spread), Menü (menus for demanding palates) and Live-Cooking (dishes prepared in front of the guests). The site does not publish sample menus, but the FAQ mentions dishes such as stuffed chicken breast, smoked salmon from the grill and vegetarian sides, and answers the question on diets directly: "Vegetarisch oder vegan? Kein Problem für unseren erfahrenen Cateringservice" (vegetarian or vegan? No problem for our experienced catering service).
Equipment and decoration are part of the offer. The FAQ says the service provides first-class cutlery, tableware and all the equipment an event needs, and helps with decoration on site, whether the setting is a rustic manor, a modern loft or a romantic restaurant. The venues FAQ adds seating, tables and decoration, and lounge furniture for outdoor areas.
The Giardino del Vino
The Giardino del Vino is the one venue fresh & joy presents as its own premises: "Bis zu 20 Personen können wir in unseren Räumlichkeiten bewirten" (we can host up to 20 people in our rooms). It is a vinothek and delicatessen specializing in Italian wines and fine foods, in a historic factory building at the edge of the old town, with a total sales area of 142 m² including a gallery, office, toilets, storeroom and a cold room. A projector, screen, music system and standing tables with covers are available. There are 2 parking spaces, with more at the Coop.
The page says the Coop center is a minute's walk away, the old town 3 minutes and the station 4 minutes. It names nearby hotels, the Gasthof zum goldenen Kreuz, the Gasthof zum Falken and the Hotel Rhyhof. The wine story is part of the appeal: the import business started with wines from Apulia more than twenty years ago, and the range now covers Italy, with wines from Spain, Portugal and Ticino, and regular tastings and wine courses. For a small wedding lunch or a pre-wedding dinner for close family, it is an intimate option.
Help finding a venue
The Event Location page offers to help you find the right venue in and around Frauenfeld, and lists places the team works with. These are separate venues, not ones fresh & joy runs, and include:
- Alte Sattlerei: a former saddlery with impressive stone vaulting, modern lighting, and good public transport access.
- Murgbrugg Keller: historic vaulted cellars.
- Cafeteria der Murghof Werkstätte: 99 seats inside plus an outdoor terrace overlooking the Murg.
- Eisenwerk: several rooms including the Salon Rouge, a theater and the Shedhalle.
- Festhalle Ruegerholz: a large multipurpose hall.
- Trotte Iselisberg: a historic winepress house above the vineyards with views over the Thur valley, for groups up to around 100.
- Heubluemä-Schüür: a converted hay barn at the historic Grubmühle, with over 500 years of history, for up to 100 people, with weddings named.
- Mostgut Bärenmost, Iselisberger, Flores Tabacos, the Bodensee Planetarium in Kreuzlingen, and the Fitness & Racket Park.
The FAQ says the team is well connected in Frauenfeld and knows the event trade in Thurgau, and will research and compare venues for you.
Timing and practical points
The venues FAQ gives honest planning advice. Availability depends on the type of event, the size, the guest count and the season; popular venues often need booking several months, sometimes a full year, ahead. It also flags the Openair Frauenfeld, which it calls Europe's biggest hip-hop festival, usually held in July, when the town is busy and accommodation can sell out. A couple marrying in Frauenfeld in July should book rooms early.
The office is open Tuesday to Thursday, 09:00 to 16:00, and closed Friday to Monday. The phone number is +41 52 720 99 77 and the email is info@fresh-joy.ch. The site offers an online inquiry for catering, party service and venues, and a catalog on request.
What the site leaves open
There are no published prices, per-person rates or deposit terms. The site does not say whether the team travels beyond its 50 km radius. It is written in German and says nothing about English, so a couple writing from abroad should raise language in the first message.
Who it suits
fresh & joy suits couples marrying in Thurgau or the Winterthur area who want one company to handle catering, equipment and decoration, and who would welcome help finding a venue, from a barn to a vineyard house. The Giardino del Vino adds a small, wine-focused space for an intimate gathering. The caveats are the lack of published prices and menus, and a German-only website.
