Spoon et Caetera

Tap a star to rate

Spoon et Caetera is a catering company that has worked in Vaud since 2008 and describes itself as a "traiteur d'auteur à Lausanne", a signature caterer in Lausanne. Its wedding page opens with "Spoon et Cætera sublime votre mariage en Pays de Vaud depuis 2008". The name comes from its best-known product: the page says its "fameux cocktails dînatoires présentés sur cuillères", its well-known standing-dinner cocktails served on spoons, inspired the name. For couples marrying in French-speaking Switzerland, it offers a creative menu, a kitchen that travels to the venue, and an unusual option of a reception on the water.

The wedding offer

The wedding page sets out 3 formats and lets the couple mix them: "pièces cocktail, buffets généreux ou dîner gastronomique servi à l'assiette". That is cocktail pieces, generous buffets, or a gastronomic dinner served on the plate. The cocktail section describes "Des bouchées créatives servies en cuillères, pour des apéritifs raffinés" (creative bites served in spoons, for refined apéritifs), and the wedding section promises "Un menu sur mesure pour votre grand jour, de la pièce cocktail à l'assiette gastronomique", a made-to-measure menu from the first cocktail bite to the plated dinner. The page adds a short line on the cooking itself: creative food, seasonal produce and careful service.

The about page lists the house specialties beyond weddings, which can also find a place at a wedding party: gastronomic meals and buffets, pintxos, Spoon burgers, takoyaki, and ice creams and sorbets, plus an ice cream bar. The videos page shows nitrogen shooters, nitrogen cocktails and nitrogen sorbets made with the Distillerie Morand, which gives a sense of the show element the team brings.

Where it cooks

The about page explains how Spoon works without a fixed venue: "Spoon est équipé de cuisines mobiles et autonomes", it has mobile, self-contained kitchens. That lets a couple hold the wedding at home, at a place that matters to them, or at a location without a kitchen. The wedding page names the kind of places it works in: "Domaines viticoles de La Côte et de Lavaux, châteaux, propriétés privées, lieux d'exception au bord du Léman", wine estates in La Côte and Lavaux, castles, private estates and special places on the shore of Lake Geneva. There is a separate Lieux d'exception page, and the inquiry form lets a couple choose between their own home, a place of their choice, or "Lieu proposé par Spoon", a venue suggested by Spoon.

The service area is stated clearly: "Tout le canton de Vaud : Lausanne, Morges, Nyon, Vevey, Montreux. Également Genève et Fribourg." The whole canton of Vaud, plus Geneva and Fribourg.

The wedding cruise

The wedding page offers a reception afloat under the name "Au Fil de l'O": "offrez à vos invités une réception flottante d'exception : un mariage les pieds sur l'eau, gourmand et spectaculaire" (give your guests an exceptional floating reception: a wedding with your feet on the water, generous and spectacular). The site lists Spoon au Fil de l'O as one of its culinary experiences, and the videos page includes clips titled "Au Fil de l'O Floatinn" and "Croisières Spoon". The page does not describe the boat, its capacity, the route or the price, so a couple interested in it should ask for those details first.

The team and the approach

The about page says that Christophe and his team offer more than catering, "une expérience gustative et humaine", built on 4 values: generosity, creativity, passion and évasion, the sense of getting away. On creativity, it says the cooking adapts to any concept, theme or idea, "Votre imagination est notre seule limite" (your imagination is the only limit), and that it uses quality, seasonal products in an original, personal way. Its stated mission is a made-to-measure culinary experience "grâce à des produits nobles travaillés de manière originale", through fine ingredients handled in an original way.

On passion, the page makes the promise every couple wants to hear from a caterer: while the team works behind the scenes, the hosts enjoy the event calmly and fully. The same page lists the other experiences the company sells: a chef at home, delivered menus, sous-vide dishes, company evenings and a Swiss Gourmet Tour, a turnkey team event built with Swiss Wine Selection around a tour of Swiss wine regions, finishing with a Spoon cocktail dînatoire paired with Swiss wines. For a wedding weekend, the chef-at-home and delivered menus could cover a rehearsal dinner or a brunch the day after.

The videos page gives a record of past events: a golf event in Crans-Montana, company evenings, the 75th anniversary of the Centre Patronal in Paudex, and TV appearances on "Les Curieux" and France 5's "Échappées belles".

How to book

The wedding page offers "devis personnalisé, gratuit et sans engagement", a personalized, free and non-binding quote, by phone on 021 791 00 64 or email at info@spoonetc.ch. The contact form asks for the occasion (with Au fil de l'O and Menu gastronomique among the options), the preferred type of venue, the date, the number of people and a message. The footer links to general terms (Conditions générales).

What the site does not settle

  • Language. The site is in French only and does not mention English or German. Ask in the first message.
  • Prices. No prices appear for weddings, cocktails or the cruise.
  • Guest numbers. No minimum or maximum is given for weddings or for the boat.
  • Service staff and equipment. The page promises careful service but does not list staff, tableware or furniture.
  • Terms. Deposit and cancellation are not stated on these pages; the general terms are linked.
  • Season. The site does not say whether the cruise runs all year.

Who it suits

Spoon et Caetera suits couples in Vaud, Geneva or Fribourg who want a caterer with a playful, creative streak: a long cocktail dînatoire of bites on spoons, a gastronomic dinner at a wine estate or a castle, or a reception on Lake Geneva. The mobile kitchens make it a good match for a private property or a venue without its own kitchen.

It suits less well a couple who needs to plan in English without checking first, or who wants published prices and a fixed package. As with most creative caterers, the detail comes in the quote, and a couple should ask for it early if the date falls in summer.
