Heaven Sent is a Zurich catering company, trading as Heaven-Sent Catering GmbH from Oskar-Bider-Strasse 9 in 8057 Zürich, that caters weddings along with apéros, flying dinners, private and company events, barbecues, building-site meals and funerals. Every page title on its site carries the same line, "Heaven Sent seit 1990" (since 1990), and the wedding page frames the whole offer around the company's name: angels who come down from heaven for the day and inspire the kitchen from the apéro to the dessert.
The wedding offer
The wedding page, headed "Der kulinarische Himmel auf Erden" (culinary heaven on earth), is written in the company's own playful angel imagery, but the practical content is clear enough. A couple chooses how to feed the guests from three formats: "mit einem reichhaltigen Buffet, mit einem himmlischem Menu oder mit herrlichen, kleinen Köstlichkeiten" (with a generous buffet, a heavenly served menu, or small delicacies). The page invites couples to take advice first, so that the team can serve exactly the wedding meal they have in mind, and it says the celebration should be tailored to the couple so they can enjoy the whole day.
The page also invites couples to hold the celebration at their favorite place, "an Ihrem Lieblingsort", which is the clearest statement that Heaven Sent comes to the venue rather than hosting weddings in a room of its own.
The catering menu on the site also lists a flying dinner as a separate format, though the wedding page itself names only the buffet, the menu and the small bites. Wine is part of the offer. The wedding page promises wines chosen as if by Bacchus himself, and the apéro page adds that the wine recommendations are matched to the food as a matter of course.
Everything around the food
Under the heading "Das Essen und alles drum herum" (the food and everything around it), the wedding page lists what Heaven Sent brings beyond the kitchen:
- festive crockery, glasses and cutlery, if the couple wants them
- table decoration
- additional experienced and trained staff, added to the team as needed
The section closes with a line that sums up the company's attitude to requests: "Ihr Wunsch ist uns weit mehr als ein Befehl. Er ist das Ziel, das wir für Sie übertreffen möchten" (your wish is far more to us than a command; it is the goal we want to exceed for you). How far that goes in practice, for example with dietary requirements or a menu drawn from a guest's home cuisine, is something to test in the first conversation.
Three further pages widen that range. The Serviceengel page describes the service staff, the "angels", as discreet, working in the background, used to appearing with style, well trained and always with a smile, which the page sums up as "Himmel auf Erden eben" (heaven on earth, in short). The Event Deko page offers decoration from small touches to large arrangements, "ob Kleinigkeiten oder imposante Dekorationen", to give an event its particular finish. The navigation also lists pages for entertainment and event technology, which the wedding page does not describe further.
Help with finding a venue
For couples who have not yet booked a location, the Event Locations page is the most useful one on the site. Heaven Sent says it knows "dutzende von stilvollen Lokalitäten" (dozens of stylish venues) in and around Zurich and keeps in touch with owners of private houses on the lake or with fine views. It offers to collect the quotes from venues on the couple's behalf. The page does not name any of these venues, and it presents this as help for clients who book the catering, not as a venue service of its own.
Apéros
The apéro page goes into more detail than the wedding page and shows how the company thinks about the part of a wedding between the ceremony and the meal. It promises hot or cold bites, or both, Swiss specialties or flavors from further afield, and a selection built around the taste of the guests after a consultation. It also mentions highlights from the bestselling cookbooks of Ruth Johnson, and the navigation has a separate Kochbücher (cookbooks) section. The page's standard is that an apéro should inspire, surprise and taste excellent, and it states that the days when a host could get by with a few drinks and some pretzel sticks are over.
How to book
Every page ends with the same invitation: send the contact form or call 044 383 55 35, and the team will discuss the details and put forward a concrete catering proposal. The footer also gives a mobile number, +41 79 353 33 55, and the email address info@heaven-sent.ch. There is no online booking or price calculator; everything goes through that first conversation.
What the site does not say
For a couple planning from abroad, several important points are missing from the pages. The site publishes no prices, no sample wedding menus and no dishes for the wedding offer. It gives no minimum or maximum guest count, no lead time, and no deposit or cancellation terms (the footer links to general terms, the AGB). It does not say how far from Zurich the team will travel.
The site is in German only, and it does not say whether the team plans or serves in English. A couple who does not speak German should raise that in the first email. The site does not name the chefs or the people who run the company either; an Über Uns section and a testimonials page appear in the navigation, but the wedding, apéro, venue, service and decoration pages name no people and quote no clients.
Who it suits
Heaven Sent fits couples marrying in or around Zurich who want one supplier to take on the food, the drinks, the tableware, the decoration and the service staff, and who may also want help finding the venue itself. The long trading history since 1990 and the breadth of catering types on the site point to a company used to very different events, from a building-site lunch to a wedding banquet.
The caveats are the ones a couple from abroad will notice first. With no published prices or menus, there is nothing to compare before the first call, and the German-only site leaves the working language open. The heavily themed copy says little about the food itself, so couples who want to judge a caterer by its dishes will need to ask for sample menus and, ideally, a tasting.
