A Geneva caterer that travels to Neuchâtel and Nord Vaud

Helvetica Traiteur is an event caterer working from what its site calls "notre base genevoise" (our Geneva base) and delivering across French-speaking Switzerland. Two of its regional pages set out how it works in canton Neuchâtel and around Yverdon-les-Bains in the Nord vaudois. Weddings are one of its main lines, listed first in the site menu ahead of cocktails, corporate events, meal trays and funeral receptions.

The Neuchâtel page opens by promising "mariages, séminaires, cocktails et fêtes de famille sur l'ensemble du canton" (weddings, seminars, cocktails and family parties across the whole canton). Its short pitch is "menus lisibles" (clear menus), logistics adapted to the internal distances and the altitude of the upper towns, and a detailed quote free of charge within 24 hours. The Yverdon page sums the firm up in three words in its heading: "organisé, précis et fiable" (organized, precise and reliable).

How the firm reads the Neuchâtel region

The Neuchâtel page is unusually specific about the places it caters. It describes the canton as three parallel bands that differ in climate and in the way people entertain. On the Littoral by the lake, a wine-growing and densely settled area, receptions are often held in wine cellars, estates or rooms with a lake view, with the usual constraints of narrow access and no equipped kitchen. Above that, the intermediate valleys are rural, and community halls and converted barns host village festivals and family receptions on a controlled budget. Higher still, the towns of the Haut live from a well-known precision industry, which brings regular corporate demand with strict expectations on punctuality, and the page notes that the altitude is real and winter harder than on the plain, which affects road conditions part of the year.

For a wedding couple, the useful part is the answer to one of the FAQ questions: can a reception be held in a cellar on the Littoral? Yes, the page says, it is a common setup. These places generally have no equipped kitchen and tight access, so the team arrives with its complete equipment and adapts the menu to reheating on site.

Wedding formats

The site's wedding summary lists "cocktails dînatoires, repas assis, buffets et brunchs" (standing dinner-style cocktails, seated meals, buffets and brunches) with adapted menus. The Neuchâtel page adds detail on the formats:

  • seated wedding meals, "avec service en salle, en caveau ou en domaine" (with table service in a hall, a wine cellar or an estate)
  • cold, hot or mixed buffets, with holding equipment provided
  • cocktails and apéritifs dînatoires
  • brunches

The Yverdon page lists wedding meals and private receptions with table service, and says the firm's work runs from a small seminar break to a banquet of several hundred covers with service at the table.

Menus, the Neuchâtel page says, are built to withstand transport, because distances within the canton are real. It states that vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free diets are covered at no extra charge, with alternatives offered course by course, and that the menu can change after the couple's first feedback. The Yverdon page adds that these variants are marked on every presentation and that quantities are matched to the actual length of the service.

Delivery and the day itself

Travel is spelled out on both pages. According to the Neuchâtel page, the Littoral is about an hour and a quarter from the Geneva base, and the upper towns and valleys need around half an hour more, longer in winter because of the altitude; departure times are adjusted to match. The Yverdon page puts Yverdon-les-Bains about an hour's drive from Geneva, and says the team leaves early and builds in a margin on each delivery.

On the day, the Neuchâtel page says everything is handled by the firm from delivery to the final clear-up, reheating equipment travels with every hot delivery, and one person in charge coordinates on site. The Yverdon page adds that the drop-off point, the access time to the room and the set-up time allowed (often limited by the venue's rules) are agreed in advance, and that the drop-off point and time are confirmed in writing. Service staff are sized to the chosen format, and the team takes its equipment back afterward. In a hall without a kitchen, which the page calls common in the multi-purpose halls of the Nord vaudois, the team brings reheating equipment and, if needed, crockery and service staff.

Prices and quotes

Both regional pages say prices depend on the formula chosen, from a simple apéritif dînatoire to a seated meal with full service, and adapt to the budget and the number of guests. Each formula is modular, with options à la carte for drinks, staff, crockery and equipment. The pages do not list figures themselves; they point to a separate "Nos menus & Tarifs" page with the detailed menus and price grids. The quote is described as detailed, free, sent within 24 hours and without obligation, and the closing call to action reads "Obtenez votre devis en quelques minutes" (get your quote in a few minutes).

Where it works

The Neuchâtel page lists the Littoral, Val-de-Ruz and Val-de-Travers among the areas served, as well as the towns of the Haut. The Yverdon page says the firm works throughout the Nord vaudois and links to pages for canton Vaud, Grandson and Villeneuve, and there is a link for event catering across French-speaking Switzerland.

What the site leaves open

The site is in French, and neither page says whether the team plans or serves in English. A couple who does not read French should ask that first, by email to contact@helvetica-traiteur.ch or by phone on 022 886 02 54. Neither page states a minimum guest count for a wedding, a deposit, cancellation terms or how far ahead a date should be booked. The site names no chef or owner on these pages; an "A propos" page and a page of testimonials appear in the menu. Because the firm drives in from Geneva, couples marrying in the Haut in winter may want to talk through the timing margin with the team.

Who it suits

Helvetica Traiteur suits couples marrying in canton Neuchâtel or the Nord vaudois at a venue without a proper kitchen: a wine cellar on the lake, an estate, a village hall or a converted barn. The firm's pages show it has thought through exactly those venues, and the published travel times, the written confirmation of timings and the course-by-course dietary alternatives are practical for a couple organizing from abroad. The caveats are the French-only site and the distance from Geneva, which puts the kitchen more than an hour from most of the venues it describes.
