Jere's Manufaktur
Tap a star to rate
Jere's Manufaktur is a catering business at Buchenweg 4 in 3292 Busswil that works mainly in Bern, Biel and Solothurn, cooking for company events, private parties and weddings. Its homepage opens with the line "Unvergessliche Events beginnen mit außergewöhnlicher Kulinarik" (memorable events begin with exceptional food), and it describes itself as "Catering mit Handschrift", catering with a personal signature, built on fresh regional ingredients and menus put together for each event.
What the business says about itself
The "Über uns" section is short. Jere's Manufaktur says it works with fresh, regional ingredients and prepares every dish with great care and real passion, and that whether the occasion is a business event, a wedding or a private party, the client receives not just food but a culinary experience to remember. Behind the business, the page says, stand passion, craft and the ambition to make every event special.
Four short headings sum up its claims: regional (fresh ingredients from the region), sustainable (environmentally aware and responsible), quality (highest standards guaranteed) and service (personal and reliable). A row of figures near the top of the page states "100+ Events", "100% Frische Zutaten" (fresh ingredients), "5/5" top ratings and "24h" personal reply. These are the company's own figures; the site does not say over what period the events took place or who gave the ratings.
The site does not name the person behind the business. The name "Jere" in the company name is not explained, and no chef, founder or team member is introduced by name.
Weddings
Weddings are one of three offers on the homepage, alongside company catering and private parties, and the wedding card is labeled "Premium". Its text reads "Liebe geht durch den Magen" (the way to the heart is through the stomach), and says the company designs buffets and menus to suit the couple's big day.
The site's example of a "Hochzeits-Apéro" (wedding apéro) lists:
- antipasti and finger food
- mini burgers and vegetarian bites
- seasonal salads served in glasses
- a variation of desserts
The same page shows a business lunch example with grill or fish, oven-roasted vegetables, herb rice and a mini dessert in a glass, which gives an idea of the style of a warm meal, though it is not a wedding menu.
The menu section, headed "Unsere Menüwelten", lists four areas: apéro and finger food, warm buffet, vegetarian and vegan, and desserts. Only the apéro section is described in detail. It speaks of fine combinations of fresh ingredients, from Mediterranean antipasti and hearty mini burgers to vegetarian specialties, suited to receptions, business events or the opening of a celebration. The site says every selection is tailored to the event, and under "Massgeschneiderte Menü-Konzepte" (tailor-made menu concepts) that the concept is developed together with the client to fit the occasion, the guests and their style.
In the FAQ, the answer to whether vegan or vegetarian options are available is "Ja, selbstverständlich" (yes, of course), and the company adds that it takes allergies and special diets into account. Couples with guests who have serious allergies should discuss the details directly with the kitchen.
Booking in three steps
The homepage sets out the process as three steps:
- Send an inquiry with the date, place and occasion. The company says it replies personally within 24 hours at the latest.
- Receive an offer: an individual menu matched to the event and budget.
- Enjoy the event: the company takes care of the rest, and the hosts spend the day with their guests.
The inquiry form asks for name, email, an optional phone number, the full address including postcode, the type of event (with "Hochzeit" as one of the choices), the number of guests, the date and a message. It also allows an optional sketch or file of up to 5 MB, in PDF, image or Word format, which is useful for a couple who wants to send a floor plan of the venue. The site offers a free menu concept and a free quote, and phone contact is on +41 79 916 03 93 or by email to catering@jeresmanufaktur.ch.
Lead time and area
The FAQ answers two questions a couple from abroad will have. On timing, it says the ideal lead time is 2 to 6 weeks, and that short-notice requests are checked individually. On area, the focus is Bern, Biel and Solothurn, and for larger events other regions are possible.
A lead time counted in weeks helps couples who are planning late. It also means a couple booking a year ahead should ask how far in advance the company confirms dates.
Reviews
The reviews section shows two quoted clients. Ferney.W from Solothurn writes that the food was "Richtig stark. Geschmacklich top, schön angerichtet" (really strong, excellent taste, nicely presented) and exactly as in the photo. Kaya.C from Bern writes that the quality of the food was "hervorragend: frisch, liebevoll zubereitet und geschmacklich auf höchstem Niveau" (excellent: fresh, lovingly prepared and of the highest standard in taste), that the service was professional, friendly and reliable "von der Planung bis zur Umsetzung" (from planning to delivery), and that the guests were thoroughly delighted. Neither review says what kind of event it was. The Google widget beside them shows a 5.0 score but "(0 Rezensionen)", so it adds nothing beyond the two quoted comments.
What the site does not say
The site publishes no prices, not even as a range, and no per-person figures for the apéro or buffet. It says nothing about service staff, tableware, drinks or equipment hire, so whether the company serves at the table or only delivers is a question for the first call. It gives no maximum or minimum guest count.
The site is in German only and does not say whether the team works in English. A couple who does not speak German can write in English to find out, and should mention the language in the form's message field.
Who it suits
Jere's Manufaktur suits couples marrying in the Bern, Biel or Solothurn area who want a relaxed apéro-led reception or a buffet, planned from a simple online form, and who may be booking only weeks ahead. The short lead time, the 24-hour reply and the file upload for venue plans make the first steps easy from abroad.
The caveats are the thin detail: no prices, no named team, no wedding menu beyond the apéro example, and no word on service staff or equipment. Couples who need a formal seated dinner with full table service, or a caterer with a long published wedding record, should ask detailed questions before committing.
