Two chefs, one Valais catering company

Les 2 Chefs is a catering company in Sierre, in Valais, trading as Les2Chefs Sàrl from Route de Sion 1. Its homepage introduces itself as "Votre traiteur en Valais" (your caterer in Valais) and lists the occasions it cooks for: weddings, birthdays, baptisms, communions and company meals. Whatever the event, it says, the team prepares the meal that suits it.

The name refers to the two chefs behind it, Lionel and David. The homepage section on their background says both gained experience "dans les grandes maisons gastronomiques Européenne" (in the great gastronomic houses of Europe) and that their paths crossed in the Sierre kitchens of Didier de Courten. Each then opened his own restaurant, Lionel in Miège and David in Vétroz, and both restaurants were rated 14 points by the Gault & Millau guide. Today, the page says, they continue together with a shared passion, aiming to offer "un service unique et personnalisé" (a unique and personal service).

The wedding offer

The wedding and corporate page is headed "Pour un mariage inoubliable" (for a memorable wedding), and asks couples to trust the team with the organization of the day. It then lists what Les 2 Chefs takes on, "la totalité de la prestation" (the whole service):

  • hire and setup of equipment at the reception venue: buffet tables, high tables with covers, cloth tablecloths, glasses, cocktail plates and so on
  • service from start to finish with qualified, professional staff
  • the option of food and wine pairing with quality Valais wines "à prix intéressant" (at attractive prices)
  • apéritif and meal formulas with refined presentation
  • a personalized printed menu, free of charge

That list is what sets this listing apart for a couple from abroad. Les 2 Chefs brings the tables, linen, glasses and staff to the venue as well as the food, so a couple renting an empty hall or a garden does not need a separate rental company for the basics. The homepage adds a line on presentation: the team gives great importance to how its dishes are presented and shown.

The site does not publish wedding menus. The service list mentions apéritif formulas and meals, and the site's navigation has separate sections for festive meals, apéritifs and standing dinners (cocktails dînatoires), takeaway and meal trays. What the dishes are, and how a menu is chosen, is for the quote.

How the kitchen describes its range

The same page describes the company's corporate catering in more detail than its weddings, and that text gives the clearest picture of the kitchen's range. It speaks of a team of professionals passionate about gastronomy, a wide choice of menus designed for every requirement and taste, and a team of "chefs talentueux" (talented chefs) who can cook either traditional dishes or bolder, more inventive ones. On the homepage, the wedding tile is captioned "émotions et Gourmandises" (emotions and treats), and the apéritif and standing-dinner tile promises something "pour satisfaire tous les goûts" (to satisfy every taste). A couple who wants a classic Valais menu and one who wants something more modern can both ask; the site does not favor one over the other.

Where the food is made

Under the heading "fait maison" (homemade), the homepage says all recipes are made from fresh, healthy ingredients, that meat and vegetables are carefully selected for freshness and quality, and that all preparation is done in the kitchens of the Brasserie Le National in Sierre, which has its own entry in the site's menu. The page also says the company's suppliers select the best products every day and that its market gardener delivers daily.

Refrigerated van hire

A separate page offers the company's refrigerated van for hire, which may be useful for a couple organizing drinks or food themselves at a remote venue. The van holds about 3.5 m3 and costs CHF 280 per day or CHF 390 for a weekend, with 100 km included. It runs on diesel, and the cold unit works on the road or on 230 V mains, for chilled (positive temperature) goods. Bookings are made through a form that asks for the first and last day of hire and pick-up and return times.

Booking and contact

The site offers a free quote ("devis gratuit") and a contact form asking for name, phone, email and a message, with a promise to reply as soon as possible. Contact is by email to info@les2chefs.ch or by phone on 079 678 09 97. The opening hours listed on every page are Tuesday to Friday 08:30 to 20:00 and Saturday 8:00 to 22:00, closed Sunday and Monday; the site does not say whether these are office hours or the brasserie's, or whether they limit the days on which the company caters an event.

Planning from abroad

Because the site gives no menus or prices, the first message carries the planning. A useful request gives the date, the venue and what it already provides (kitchen, tables, glassware), the number of guests, whether the couple wants an apéritif only, a standing dinner or a seated meal, whether Valais wine pairing is wanted, and any dietary needs. Mentioning the working language in that message saves a round of replies.

What the site leaves open

The site publishes no prices for catering, only for the van. It gives no minimum or maximum guest numbers, no lead time for booking, and no deposit or cancellation terms. It says nothing about vegetarian, vegan or allergy-friendly menus, so couples with guests who need them should raise it in the first message. The site is in French only and does not say whether the team plans in English. It does not say how far the team travels outside the Sierre area.

The photo gallery carries no captions, so it gives no information about specific past weddings or venues.

Who it suits

Les 2 Chefs suits couples marrying in Valais who want restaurant-trained chefs and a single supplier for the food, the service staff and the basic equipment at the venue. The chefs' Gault & Millau background, the Valais wine pairing and the free printed menu point to a wedding meal with some ambition, and the equipment hire makes it workable at a venue with little of its own.

The caveats: there is no published menu or price, and a couple writing in English will need to check the working language. Couples who want to compare dishes before getting in touch will find little to go on, and anyone with specific dietary needs should ask first.
