Marie's Deli

Tap a star to rate

Marie's Deli is the delivery, party-service and food-truck arm of the Mirabeau Hotel & Spa at Untere Mattenstrasse 12-14 in Zermatt. Its page on the hotel's site offers three things: a catering service for events of up to 250 people, home delivery of the Deli's own dishes, and a food truck that the page says is mobile within Switzerland. Weddings are named directly: the truck, the page says, brings a modern "Wow-effekt" to a wedding, a birthday or a company apéro.

What the service covers

The page opens with the range it has in mind. A host might invite friends to a relaxed dinner in their Zermatt chalet and leave the food to Marie's Deli, or organize "ein grosses Event für bis zu 250 Personen" (a large event for up to 250 people). In both cases the page promises a professional provider "mit viel Herzblut für Service und Events" (with a lot of heart for service and events).

A short fact box on the same page sums up the offer:

  • catering for up to 250 guests
  • a gourmet kitchen under the direction of head chef Géraldine Geroué
  • a modern food truck, mobile within Switzerland
  • a minimum order of CHF 100 for party service and deliveries

The food truck

The food truck is the part most relevant to a wedding away from the hotel. The page says it makes an event "geographisch flexibel" (geographically flexible) and suggests two examples: an apéro outdoors on a forest meadow, or a wine and delicacies tasting among vineyards. The menu can run from simple dishes such as raclette, croque monsieur and mulled wine to more refined food such as oysters and foie gras, "je nach Ihren Bedürfnissen" (depending on your needs).

For a couple from abroad planning a mountain wedding, that range is useful: a relaxed raclette evening for the night before and an oyster and foie gras apéro after the ceremony can come from the same supplier.

Delivery in Zermatt

Marie's Deli Delivery brings dishes from the Deli menu to the door. Orders of CHF 100 or more can be delivered the same day; for special requests or other deliveries, the page recommends ordering the day before. Deliveries are made only in the center of Zermatt, and extra costs apply. For guests staying in chalets or apartments in the village, this can cover a welcome dinner or a lunch the day after the wedding.

The hotel behind it

Because Marie's Deli belongs to the Mirabeau, a couple can also look at the hotel's own event spaces and rooms. The hotel's page on private events says the Mirabeau offers three restaurants and bars with Gault Millau-rated cuisine and Josef's Wine Lounge, and that it can provide anything from a gourmet tasting "auf Gault Millau Niveau" to relaxed standing dinners. Its fact box lists 32 rooms and 30 suites, 5 event spaces, and one event room with a terrace in a cozy alpine style with an open fireplace. The hotel invites clients to state their needs and budget openly and promises a personalized offer.

Josef's Wine Lounge is the most wedding-sized of the spaces described. Its page gives capacities of 45 people for apéros, parties and standing dinners, 30 in theater style, 20 in the coworking layout and 15 at a boardroom table. For private events the lounge can be rented, with live music or "einem Highlight wie einem Dessertbuffet oder Feuerwerk" (a highlight such as a dessert buffet or fireworks). The page describes it with an open fireplace, a quiet garden and a terrace where coffee breaks are served in the mountain air, and says the kitchen brigade cooks fresh lunch menus for groups meeting there. For a wedding, that makes it a natural place for a rehearsal dinner, a welcome apéro or the day-after brunch, with Marie's Deli or the hotel kitchen cooking.

For guests who need somewhere to stay, the hotel's room pages list, among other categories, standard single rooms of 20 m2, alpine single rooms of 18 m2, standard double rooms of 26 m2, furnished with traditional felt and Swiss stone pine and facing the Rothorn and the Mischabel range with morning sun, two single beds or a queen bed and a sofa, and three-bed rooms of 29 m2. The room list runs up to suites with Matterhorn views and a penthouse apartment. The hotel also has a spa, the Alpine Hideaway, and a kids' club.

Booking and contact

The page invites couples to get in touch for questions or more information. The hotel's contact details are +41 27 966 26 60 and info@hotel-mirabeau.ch, and the site is available in German, French and English. The navigation also lists a news item titled "Marie’s Deli unterwegs" (Marie's Deli on the road) and another on the hotel expanding its restaurant concept, which the page does not summarize.

What the site leaves open

Beyond the CHF 100 minimum order, the site publishes no prices for catering or the food truck, and no sample wedding menu. It does not say how much notice a wedding booking needs, what the food truck costs to bring outside Zermatt, whether service staff, tables and tableware are included in party service, or what deposit and cancellation terms apply. It gives no details on vegetarian or allergy-friendly options. The English version of the site exists, but the pages do not say in which languages the catering team plans events; for most international couples that will be the first thing to ask.

Who it suits

Marie's Deli suits couples marrying in or around Zermatt who want a caterer with a hotel kitchen behind it, flexible enough to cook in a chalet, at an outdoor spot reached by the food truck, or for up to 250 guests at a larger venue. Couples who also want rooms for their guests, or a small space such as Josef's Wine Lounge for an apéro or a welcome evening, can deal with one house for all of it.

The caveats: delivery is limited to the center of Zermatt, the food truck's prices and travel terms are not published, and the working language and lead time need to be confirmed directly.
