Metzgerei, Partyservice und Geschirrverleih Bauer

Tap a star to rate

Metzgerei, Partyservice und Geschirrverleih Bauer is a butcher's shop at Schaffhauserstrasse 27 in 8500 Frauenfeld, in canton Thurgau, that also runs a party service and hires out tableware and equipment. Its homepage welcomes visitors with that three-part name, butcher, party service and tableware hire, and the site's page titles add "in Frauenfeld, Thurgau". Weddings are one of the occasions named on the homepage, alongside birthdays, company parties, sports events, music events, larger gatherings and barbecue parties.

What the business offers

The homepage's philosophy is short: "Durch unsere langjährige Erfahrung aller Arten von Festen können wir Ihnen Tipps und Infrastruktur zur Verfügung stellen" (through our long experience with all kinds of parties we can give you tips and provide the infrastructure). Its offer to hosts is "Sie können sich um Ihre Gäste kümmern, wir besorgen den Rest!" (you look after your guests, we take care of the rest).

Food is delivered "frisch aus unserer eigenen Metzgerei" (fresh from our own butcher's shop), and the homepage lists meat and grill platters, a caterer's buffet, ham baked in bread dough, ready-made menus, "auch thailandische Spezialitäten" (Thai specialties too) and much more.

Tableware and equipment hire

The hire side is what makes Bauer useful for a wedding at a venue without its own kitchen or tableware. The homepage says it rents out, on favorable terms, glasses, crockery, grill wagons, coffee machines, fryers, kitchen equipment and much more, and asks for price requests by email to info@party-und-geschirr-bauer.ch or by fax to 052 720 50 66. The navigation has separate pages for grill wagon hire and tableware hire.

Apéro ideas

The apéro page is a plain list. Hot options include ham croissants, sausage rolls, cheese tartlets and spinach tartlets. The most wedding-specific idea is an alternative apéro: the team drives its grill wagon "direkt vor die Kirche oder den gewünschten Appero-Standort" (right up to the church or the chosen apéro spot) and grills small sausages, including wild garlic, veal, chili and mini cervelat, served with fresh farmhouse bread, as much as each guest likes, on small cardboard plates. Other apéro items are a Ticino platter, mixed party rolls (about 3 per person), chicken nuggets, cold platters of cheese and cold cuts, vegetable dips, chips and nuts, and hot sausages with horseradish mustard. The drinks list covers mulled wine, red and white wine, orange juice, fresh-pressed apple juice, mineral water, draft beer and coffee.

Buffets

The buffet page sets out nine buffets, each with a fixed composition:

  • Salatbuffet: 8 salads of your choice, 2 homemade dressings, 2 breads
  • Metzgerbuffet: 6 salads, platters of farmhouse ham, cold roast, cold cuts, pâté, air-dried Bündner meat and cheese, dressings, mustard and tartare sauce
  • Seemannsbuffet: 4 salads, house-smoked salmon, smoked trout or fish, prawn cocktail and tuna
  • Jägerbuffet: 5 salads with Bündner meat, cold roast, salami and coppa, smoked salmon, pâté and ham platters
  • Bauernbuffet (warm): ham in bread dough, farmhouse bratwurst with onion sauce, hot meatloaf, roast pork, potato gratin, Älplermagronen, beans with bacon
  • Ratsherrenbuffet (warm): roast veal, leg of lamb with garlic, pork or beef roast with mushroom sauce, spiced potatoes, pilaf rice
  • Schlemmerbuffet (warm): roast veal, roast beef, hot salmon, ham in bread dough, gratin, rice, hollandaise and Café de Paris butter
  • Tessinerbuffet (warm): spaghetti, ricotta tortellini, lasagna and mushroom risotto with three sauces
  • Grillbuffet (warm): 5 kinds of meat and 4 kinds of mini sausages, potatoes with sour cream, wild rice

The page notes that prices exclude VAT, 2.5% for self-service and 7.7% with service, and it publishes hourly rates for staff: CHF 58 per hour for a butcher or cook and CHF 42 per hour for service staff.

Set menus

The menu page is long. Starters include clear soups, cream soups, canapés, a Thurgau platter with cold cuts, cheese, Mostbröckli and bacon, house pâté, house-smoked salmon with horseradish foam, and Thai soups and salads on request. Mains range from minced meat with macaroni and apple sauce to grilled pork fillet medallions with a choice of four sauces, beef goulash, veal piccata with saffron risotto, stuffed breast of veal, pork loin roast from the grill, veal steak with morel cream sauce, fondue chinoise or bourguignonne with salad buffet, Thai curries, and an Indonesian noodle dish. Desserts include Thurgau apple cider cream, sorbets, ice cream cakes, fruit salad, mousses, cakes, caramel custard, meringues with ice cream and apple strudel. The page adds that customers can put together their own menu. Two small details show how the service works in practice: the fondue option includes the pans and plates, and the cold apéro platters come with disposable tableware, so a couple using the hire service for a seated meal should say which parts of the day need real glass and china.

The homepage also lists current offers for groups of 20 or more, such as pork fillet "Förster Art" with spätzli, Brussels sprouts and red cabbage.

Booking and contact

The offer page promises a no-obligation quote for any event. Contact is by phone on +41 52 720 60 33, by fax, or by email; the footer gives party-bauer@bluewin.ch and the homepage info@party-und-geschirr-bauer.ch. The shop is open Tuesday to Friday 07:30 to 12:00 and 14:30 to 18:30 and Saturday 07:30 to 16:00, closed Sunday and Monday.

What the site leaves open

Food prices are not published; only staff rates and VAT rates are. The site does not say how far outside Frauenfeld the business delivers, whether it caters on Sundays, what lead time a wedding needs, or whether tables and chairs are among the items hired. It says nothing about vegetarian or allergy-friendly menus, though some listed items, such as the salad buffet and the vegetable dips, are meat-free. The site is in German only, and it does not name the people who run the business or say when it was founded, beyond "langjährige Erfahrung".

Who it suits

Bauer suits couples marrying in or around Frauenfeld who want hearty, traditional food from a butcher's kitchen, a sausage-grill apéro outside the church, and the glasses, crockery and kitchen equipment to go with it, at a venue that has little of its own. The published staff rates help with budgeting.

The caveats: it is a traditional German-language business with no English on the site, food prices come only by quote, and couples wanting a refined, plated fine-dining menu should look at the menu list carefully before getting in touch.
