SKEMA Catering

Tap a star to rate

SKEMA Catering is a catering company for weddings, company events and private parties "in St. Gallen, Thurgau, Appenzell und Zürich", with the tagline "Herzensqualität", quality from the heart. The homepage adds a line on where it comes from, "Von Horn in die Deutschschweiz" (from Horn into German-speaking Switzerland), and gives its working range in 3 lines: plated service for 30 to 600 people, buffets for 30 to 2000, and apéros for 30 to 2000. For a couple planning a wedding in eastern Switzerland, it is a caterer that can do anything from a small apéro to the whole event, and that will also help find the venue.

The SKEMA name covers more than catering: the site's menu also links to martial arts, a gym, therapy, a health center in Uster, a clubhouse and a wellness shop under the same brand. The catering pages are what matter for a wedding.

The wedding offer

The wedding page puts it simply: "Ob Sie nur einen Hochzeits-Apéro brauchen oder die gesamte Eventplanung beanspruchen – wir unterstützen Sie an Ihrem wichtigsten Tag!" Whether a couple needs only a wedding apéro or the entire event planning, SKEMA supports them. The list below it names a wedding apéro, a complete menu, a bar with wines and drinks delivery, event planning, crockery, glasses and cutlery, and "Locationvermittlung", help with finding and booking a venue. The homepage summarizes the wedding side as "Komplette Eventdurchführung", full event delivery, with plated service and buffets and wedding apéros.

The apéro in detail

The apéro page is the most detailed on the site, and for many weddings the apéro is where a caterer is judged. The services listed are apéro delivery, staffed apéro buffets, drinks service with Prosecco, white wine and speciality beers, food buffets with finger food, Mediterranean antipasti buffets, coffee catering, crockery and cutlery, infrastructure, and photography.

The antipasti buffet ("Mach es wie in Italien!", do it the Italian way) lists Italian cured meats (bresaola, prosciutto crudo, mortadella, salami and spicy salami), Parmesan in the piece with grapes, organic buffalo mozzarella, burrata with lemon and passion fruit, marinated artichokes, house-grilled courgettes, aubergines and peppers, dried tomatoes, olives, feta with pink pepper and honey, a basil and almond pesto, a tomato and walnut pesto, and warm focaccia. The page says the buffet comes with porcelain, buffet decoration and tablecloths, and that setting it up is included with delivery.

The finger food list lets a couple build their own apéro. Savory options include crostini with Brie, lavender honey and fig, with smoked salmon and guacamole, or with prosciutto and melon; salmon and ham wraps; focaccia skewers with grilled vegetables; an oriental lentil salad and a Lebanese couscous in small jars; and a pumpkin and ginger soup in an espresso cup. Sweet options include small panna cottas (lemongrass and vanilla, rosemary and vanilla with passion fruit, or tonka bean with amaretto mandarins), a small tiramisu, hazelnut brownies, a granola with yogurt and lemon curd, and fruit.

Drinks and rental material

The drinks list covers Prosecco, Champagne, white wine, soft drinks, speciality beers, mineral water, house iced tea, orange juice and drinks of choice. The page says SKEMA sets up a complete drinks buffet with all material and staff for serving on site, and that drinks can be ordered "auf Konsumation", so the couple pays only for what is drunk.

The Miet-Material page is a shop of 30 rental items with prices. Examples include an apéro plate at CHF 0.90, main-course cutlery at CHF 1.50, a chafing dish at CHF 20.00, a champagne bucket at CHF 15.00, a barista cart at CHF 250.00, a folding pavilion tent of 6 m x 3 m at CHF 125.00, and a beer-table set of 1 table and 2 benches at CHF 20.00. For a couple planning an outdoor wedding, those prices give a real sense of what the equipment side costs.

The venue list

The Locations page lists more than 30 venues in the region, most with a capacity, which is useful for a couple who has not yet found a place. They range from farms with views of Lake Constance (Bauernhof im Rain in Güttingen and Zelglihof in Ermatingen, each up to 120 people) and castles (Schloss Roggwil up to 150, Schloss Arbon up to 100, which lists weddings among its uses) to city spaces in St. Gallen (DEZENT. for 15 to 500, the Pfalzkeller up to 300, the botanical garden pavilion up to 90). There are also industrial halls such as the Presswerk in Arbon (up to 320) and the Lokremise in Wil (up to 250), the Ballenlager in Vaduz (up to 300), and the Ritterhaus Ürikon on the lake, for 40 to 60, with a wedding chapel. Several note extras, such as a flower shop that can decorate (Chruut und Chabis in Bischofszell) or 28 beds at the Pfadiheim Egnach. The site does not say that SKEMA owns or runs these venues; it lists them as locations, and the wedding page offers help with finding one.

The team

The about page is headed "Es ist der Mensch, der den Unterschied macht", it is the person who makes the difference, and it lists the whole team by first name and role. Luca Trinidad heads the company and is a trained cook (Koch EFZ), Edi Trinidad is in management, and Timo and Annina are chefs de service. The kitchen includes Conny, a federally qualified head chef, and Rösli, an event cook described as a "Kräuterzauberin" (herb magician). Ronnie is the barista, Noel handles logistics, and Paula and Dana are listed as hosts.

What the site does not settle

  • Language. The site is in German only and does not mention English.
  • Catering prices. Only rental items are priced. Menus, apéros and staff are quoted individually; the site offers a free quote.
  • Terms. Deposit, cancellation and booking lead time are not published.
  • Venue terms. The listed venues carry capacities but no rental prices or availability.

Inquiries go to +41 79 755 19 25 or catering@skema.ch, or through the quote form.

Who it suits

SKEMA suits couples marrying in eastern Switzerland who want one company for food, drinks, equipment and possibly the venue, from a 30-guest apéro to a very large celebration. The detailed apéro lists, the drinks paid by consumption and the priced rental items make planning easier than with most caterers. The main caveats are the German-only site and the absence of menu prices, so a couple should request a quote early.
