Photocab GmbH is a photo booth rental company in Chur, in Graubünden, working across Switzerland for private and corporate events. The home page describes it as everything from the photo box to the vintage event bus from one source, "seit 2012 aus Graubünden" (from Graubünden since 2012), and its home page prints starting prices for most of its products.
The products
The home page lists four product families, with a fifth option in the bus.
- Simpla, the photo box for private events. The site calls it its uncomplicated photo box for weddings, birthdays and private parties, and says a professional camera, a studio flash and simple controls produce sharp photos all evening.
- Photo Booth Corporate, the same idea set up for company events, with the client's design on the start screen and on the prints.
- Foto Gondel, a vintage gondola that the site calls much more than a photo box and a real highlight. It produces photos, GIFs, boomerangs and videos, with individual branding, and comes with wooden skis and other gadgets as props.
- 360° Video Booth, a high-quality rotating video booth that records super slow-motion clips.
- Bus 71, described as a photo bus with a cocktail bar. The home page gives no price or detail for it beyond that line.
For a wedding, the Simpla is the product the company itself aims at couples. The gondola is pitched at company events, fairs and festivals, but a vintage gondola with wooden skis as props is an obvious fit for a mountain wedding in Graubünden, and nothing on the site restricts it to business clients.
What the prices include
Every price on the home page is a starting price and excludes VAT (exkl. MwSt.).
The Simpla starts at CHF 1,250 for a one-day event and CHF 2,450 for up to three days over a weekend. That covers modern photo booth functions with professional equipment, print templates with 400 prints included, all pictures in a web gallery, direct download by QR code, 24/7 support and insurance, gadgets on request and a retro suitcase of props and glasses. The body text adds unlimited digital pictures and personal photo layouts. The important detail for couples is the logistics line: the Simpla is picked up (PicUp) in Chur, St. Moritz, Zernez or Bern, rather than delivered.
The Photo Booth Corporate starts at the same CHF 1,250 for one day and CHF 2,450 for a weekend, but replaces the 400-print allowance with unlimited prints and includes delivery, setup and pickup anywhere in Switzerland on the chosen date. A couple who want delivery and unlimited prints for the same starting price can ask for this package; the site lists it under corporate, but the features are the same kind of thing a wedding needs.
The Foto Gondel starts at CHF 1,850 for one day and CHF 2,950 for a weekend, with delivery and setup across Switzerland, 24/7 support and insurance, print templates with a logo and unlimited prints.
The 360° Video Booth also starts at CHF 1,850 for one day and CHF 2,950 for a weekend. It includes 1 operator for about 10 hours, direct download of the videos by QR code, the client's logo, text, intro, outro and sound on the videos, delivery and setup across Switzerland, 24/7 support and insurance, a sound system and a smoke or bubble machine, with no time limit on recording.
Locations and partners
The contact page lists four addresses. The main warehouse is Photocab's own, at Grossbruggerweg 3, 7000 Chur. Photocab also has its own pick-up point at Via Tinus 43, 7500 St. Moritz. In Bern, the event agency Evenjo AG at Weiermannsstrasse 34, 3008 Bern, is described as a partner of several years: its team (the page names Thierry) delivers and installs photo stations, or clients collect them. In the Engadin, Sarsura SA at Rasto 150a, 7530 Zernez, is a pick-up point; the page calls Stefan of Sarsura an old friend and "unser Mann im Engadin" (our man in the Engadin), who also delivers and installs.
For a wedding in the mountains of eastern Switzerland this network is the practical advantage. A couple marrying around St. Moritz or Zernez can collect a Simpla close to the venue or have it installed by the local partner, rather than relying on a van from the lowlands.
Track record and team
The events archive runs year by year from 2012 to 2021 and names early clients and places: Voices on Top in Pontresina and Snownight4Free in Lenzerheide in 2012, a wedding fair in Zurich in 2013 for Bergbahnen Engadin St. Moritz, a holiday fair in Bern in 2014, and a run of New Year's Eve and end-of-season parties since. The home page says the booths have accompanied numerous events in Switzerland and worldwide, from private celebrations to international company events, and that the company counts among the leading providers of professional photo booths in the country.
The team page names Daniela Prader (organization and co-owner) and Andri Margadant (founder and co-owner). The motto on the page is short: "Wir legen weniger Wert auf Floskeln dafür umso mehr auf Taten" (we care less about empty phrases and all the more about deeds).
Contact is by phone on +41 81 833 77 77, by e-mail at info@photocab.ch, or through the contact form.
What the site leaves open
The site is in German and does not say whether the team works in English. It gives no price for Bus 71. It does not state a booking lead time, a deposit or a cancellation rule on its home or contact page, although AGB (terms) are linked in the footer. For the Simpla, the site does not say whether delivery can be added to the pickup price or what it would cost, and it does not say how long the web gallery stays online. A couple from abroad should also ask how much floor space the gondola and the 360 platform need and whether the venue must supply power.
Who it suits
Photocab suits couples marrying in Graubünden, the Engadin or around Bern who like to see prices before they write, and those who want something more distinctive than a box: a vintage gondola is a natural prop at an alpine venue. The Simpla with its 400 prints and pickup points is the budget route for couples who can collect a box; the gondola and 360 booth, with delivery, operator and insurance included, suit a larger party. The caveats are the German-only site and the fact that the lowest price assumes collection.
