Confiserie Bachmann
Tap a star to rate
Confiserie Bachmann is a Lucerne bakery and confectioner, trading since 1897 according to its own site, with a webshop that has a dedicated wedding cake section (Hochzeitstorten) inside a cake range it puts at "Über 600 Torten", over 600 cakes. It is a large, established house rather than a one-person cake studio, and for a couple marrying in or around Lucerne it can cover more than the cake: pralines for favors, apéro platters and desserts all come from the same shop.
The house and its range
The company describes itself as specialized in bakery, patisserie and confectionery products "im Premiumbereich", at the premium end, with what it calls an unmatched cake and apéro offer, and says it is "schweizweit führend", a leader across Switzerland, in that field. Those are the business's own claims. What the webshop shows is concrete enough: pralines and truffles, which it says are "täglich frisch von Hand gefertigt, aus erlesenen Zutaten und nach traditionellen Rezepturen" (made fresh by hand every day from select ingredients and to traditional recipes), macarons, Lucerne specialties such as the Luzerner Chatzestreckerli and the Luzerner WasserturmStein, bread, sandwiches, patisseries and seasonal ranges.
The company section of the site lists a history (Chronik and Geschichte), awards (Auszeichnungen), press coverage, sustainability pages on chocolate, packaging, food waste and local partners, and the Bachmann Stiftung, a foundation with pages on Côte d'Ivoire and Ghana. It also runs tastings, a pastry workshop (Konditor-Workshop) and a Detektiv Trail. The contact line on every page is +41 41 227 70 70, with kundendienst@confiserie.ch for customer service.
The wedding cake page
The wedding cake category opens with a short statement: "Der krönende Abschluss eines jeden Hochzeitsessens ist ohne Zweifel die Hochzeitstorte." In English, the crowning finish of any wedding dinner is, without doubt, the wedding cake. The page goes on to promise innovative creations and closeness to the customer, and says the team tries to create cakes that match the couple's wishes "in Geschmack und Form", in taste and shape, so that no personal wish goes unmet.
Under that heading the shop groups four kinds of product: Hochzeitstorten themselves, Herztorten (heart-shaped cakes), Einzelne Torten (single cakes) and Decoraufsätze, decorative toppers that sit on a cake. A separate accessories section sells candles and "Textdecor und Caketopper", lettering and cake toppers. The structure suggests two routes: a cake ordered through the shop, and a cake designed around the couple's wishes, which the page's promise about taste and shape points to. The page does not spell out how the second route works, whether through a meeting, a form or an email.
Beyond the cake
The rest of the cake range is relevant for a wedding weekend. Fototorten, photo cakes, come in standard and maxi sizes, with a frame, with a text or with a graphic, and the Versandtorten are cakes sent by post with a personal text or photo. For favors or a thank-you to guests, the corporate gift section shows how far personalization goes on the chocolate side: logo pralines, personalized sweets, logo cakes, cupcakes and printed biscuits in heart, star, square and rectangle shapes. These are sold as business gifts, so whether the same printing is available for a wedding is a question to ask.
The apéro department is large. It lists canapés, bruschette, small breads, mini salads, meat and cheese platters with dips, mini patisseries, macaron platters and praline platters, plus drinks, disposable tableware and service. For a civil ceremony followed by a drinks reception, a couple could source the apéro and the cake from one supplier. Bestseller prices on the home page give a sense of the price level: 20 bruschette cost CHF 76.00, a box of 16 mixed truffles CHF 29.20, a Linzertorte CHF 14.90.
For guest gifts, the chocolate range is the obvious source. The house truffle, Schutzengeli, is described as "Zartschmelzende Knuspertruffes", melt-in-the-mouth crunchy truffles, and comes in boxes such as a 12-piece heart. A 16-piece Grand Cru box is listed at CHF 31.30 and 20 mixed pralines with alcohol at CHF 36.20. The shop also sells vouchers and greeting cards, which could serve as thank-you gifts after the wedding.
Delivery and ordering
The webshop lists postal delivery from CHF 8.90, free from an order of CHF 60, and a free gift card. A separate Lieferservice for lunch orders says an online order placed by 16.00 is delivered the next day between 10.00 and 12.00. That lunch service is the only delivery schedule the pages state; they give no delivery terms for wedding cakes, and nothing about bringing a tiered cake to a venue outside Lucerne or setting it up on site. The site has a page of Standorte, shop locations, but the pages do not list them.
The site switches between German and English and shows prices in CHF or EUR, which helps a couple ordering from abroad. The wedding cake text itself is in German.
What the site does not settle
No price appears for a wedding cake on the wedding cake page. The pages give no lead time for a wedding order, no tier or portion sizes, and no word on tastings for wedding couples in particular, even though the company runs tastings as events. They do not say whether a wedding cake is delivered and assembled at the venue or collected from a shop. Before booking, a couple from abroad would want to ask how the design is agreed, how far ahead to order in the wedding season, whether a wedding cake can be delivered to their venue, and whether the consultation can be held in English.
Who it suits
Confiserie Bachmann suits couples marrying in Lucerne who want a cake from a long-established house and like the idea of one order covering cake, apéro and chocolate favors. The English version of the webshop and the payment in euros make remote ordering of the shop products easier than with most small bakers.
The drawbacks mirror its size. The wedding page is short and general, with no portfolio of past wedding cakes and no named cake designer, so couples who want a close creative collaboration with one baker may find a smaller studio more personal. And with no stated delivery terms for wedding cakes, the logistics for a venue outside the city need to be agreed directly with the shop.
