Charter Voyages
Tap a star to rate
Charter Voyages is a travel agency at Route des Acacias 25 in Les Acacias, trading as Charter SA and founded in 1970, according to its own homepage. For couples, the relevant part is a service the site calls "Wedding lists" (Listes de mariage in the French labels), which sits in the main services menu next to flights, hotels, cruises, safaris and bespoke travel. The site does not spell out how the list works, but it puts a wedding list and the trip itself with the same agency.
What the agency does
The services menu is long and covers most of what a travel agency sells: flights, hotels, holiday clubs, cruises, tours, safaris, wellbeing, bespoke travel, group travel, business travel and car rentals. Alongside those are three items that matter around a wedding: wedding lists, birthday lists and gift cards, and a visa service. The homepage describes the range as running "from simple flight bookings to bespoke trips, leisure to business".
The agency's stated aim is to offer attractive rates across tourism and business travel. It says it has access to the best research platforms and has "fostered high-quality relationships with partners all over the world". Its team, in its own words, "takes care of every detail, from booking flights to organising the day's itinerary".
For a honeymoon, the practical reading is simple. This is a full-service agency rather than a honeymoon specialist, and the wedding list is one of its listed services. The site does not publish a honeymoon catalog; it works from what you tell it.
The wedding list service
The wedding list appears as its own menu item, and two of the testimonials on the homepage are tagged "Wedding list". One of them, from Daniela B., describes a trip to Greece "wonderfully organised from start to finish"; the other, from Florence M., calls the service very friendly, fast and efficient. That is the evidence on the homepage that couples have used the list and then traveled with the agency.
What the homepage does not do is explain the mechanics. It does not say how guests contribute, whether there is an online page for the list, whether a fee or commission applies, or what happens if the amount collected differs from the price of the trip. A couple thinking of using it instead of a gift registry should ask those questions in the first conversation, since they decide whether it suits guests spread across several countries.
The team and the four promises
The site says the team is eight people: six travel agents, "each one an expert in a specific region or type of travel", a marketing intern and an administrator. The agents, it says, "do everything they can to put together your bespoke trips". There is a separate "Our team" page in the menu.
The homepage then sets out four benefits of booking through the agency:
- Experience and knowledge. The agents "know the market" and can offer "authentic destinations, as well as better offers than what you'll find online".
- Security and protection. If something goes wrong while you are away, your agent acts on your behalf, whoever is at fault, to get the trip back on track.
- Collaboration and saving time. The agent takes care of the details.
- Financial savings. The agency says it matches the prices you find and adds other benefits, giving transfers included in the overall price as an example.
The second point is the one that matters most for a honeymoon abroad: having a named agent in Switzerland to call if a flight or hotel falls through.
Where clients have gone
The testimonials give a sense of range. One client describes an Asia trip covering 3 countries (Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand) and 8 flights without a hitch. Another describes a Jordan tour with a Royal Jordanian flight directly from Geneva to Amman, a rental car for the 12-day stay, hotels near Amman airport, Petra, Aqaba and the Dead Sea, and a stay in a Bedouin camp in the Wadi Rum desert. A safari client writes about Namibia, Zimbabwe with Victoria Falls, and Botswana, including a landing by small plane or helicopter in the Okavango Delta. Others mention Soma Bay in Egypt, Costa Rica, South Africa and Tanzania.
None of these is labeled as a honeymoon, apart from the Greece trip tagged as a wedding list. They do show that the agency handles multi-country itineraries, safaris and self-drive tours, which are the kinds of trips couples often choose when they want something more involved than a single beach resort.
Contact, hours and language
The contact route is a form: you describe your travel plans and "one of our specialists will contact you to check your needs and propose a bespoke travel plan". The office hours are Monday to Friday, 9am to 6:30pm. The footer gives Charter SA's phone number, +41 22 734 35 35, the email info@charter.ch and the address Rte des Acacias 25, 1227 Les Acacias. A second business, CB Travel Services, appears in the footer with its own phone line and email. There is a newsletter, an Offers page and a Blog/News page.
The site has an English version, which is the one linked here, and the service labels also appear in French. It does not say which languages the agents work in. A couple writing from abroad can use the English form and see how the reply comes back.
What the site leaves open
The homepage publishes no prices, no honeymoon packages and no sample itineraries. It does not explain how the wedding list works, as covered above. It does not say how far ahead a honeymoon should be booked, what deposit is taken, or what the visa service includes. The published office hours are weekdays only, with nothing said about weekend contact.
Who it suits
Charter Voyages suits a couple who wants a person, not a booking engine, to build the trip, and who likes the idea of a wedding list held at a travel agency rather than a shop. Its testimonials point to real strength in safaris, the Middle East and Southeast Asia combinations. It suits couples less if they want to compare fixed honeymoon packages and prices online before making contact, since the site gives none, or if they need weekend contact while planning.
