Knecht Reisen

Tap a star to rate

Knecht Reisen is a travel agency at Schwimmbadstrasse 1 in Windisch, part of the Knecht Gruppe of travel agencies, and its honeymoon page is titled "Hochzeitsreisen vom Spezialisten", honeymoons from the specialist. It plans honeymoons worldwide, and for couples who want to marry abroad it also says it will sort out the formalities with its partners on site.

How the agency frames a honeymoon

The page opens by calling the honeymoon the trip of all trips, the start of a shared future, a journey on which everything has to be perfect. Its first requirement is privacy: the page says a honeymoon must above all offer plenty of it, because this most precious time is one you want to enjoy as a couple alone. It adds that romance often gets short shrift in everyday life, and that a honeymoon should be a holiday on cloud nine ("Urlaub auf Wolke sieben").

From that it draws the promise that matters to a planner: nothing in the organization should be left to chance, and the agency is only satisfied when the couple is very satisfied. That is marketing language, but it tells you what to hold the agency to.

Marrying abroad

The most practical paragraph on the page is about weddings, not only honeymoons. In the agency's words, "Wenn Sie im Ausland den Bund fürs Leben schliessen möchten, klären wir die notwendigen Formalitäten mit unseren internationalen Partnern vor Ort" (if you want to tie the knot abroad, we clarify the necessary formalities with our international partners on site). It also says it informs couples about any requirements connected with having a marriage abroad recognized in Switzerland after they return.

That is the agency's own offer, and it is worth taking up in detail: which countries its partners cover, what the agency itself handles, and what it leaves to the couple and the authorities. The page does not list destinations for weddings specifically or say what the service costs.

A later line makes a related point: the wedding and the celebrations around it can be combined with guided private tours, a beach holiday or group travel. That opens the door to a wedding abroad with guests, though the page gives no examples of how such a trip is organized.

Where the agency sends couples

The honeymoon page gives examples rather than packages. It mentions a honeymoon in a romantic European city such as Venice, Rome or Paris; an unusual luxury resort in the Maldives or the Seychelles; a "Drive-By-Hochzeit" in Las Vegas; an intimate small ceremony on a beach in Bora Bora; a lavish party on the fortieth floor of a hotel tower in Dubai; or a honeymoon suite in a luxury safari lodge in Botswana. It adds big cities: Rio de Janeiro, Tokyo, New York, Vancouver and Cape Town.

The destinations menu is long: Africa, Alaska, America, Antarctica, Arabia, Asia, Australia, China, India, Iceland, Japan, Canada, the Caribbean, the Maldives, Mauritius, New Zealand, the Seychelles, Scandinavia, Sri Lanka, South America, the South Seas, Central America and Central Asia. A tile section on the honeymoon page adds Hawaii. The footer list of destinations goes further again and adds European and Central Asian options: the Baltic states, Bulgaria, the Caucasus, Moldova, Mongolia, Poland, Romania, Scotland, the Czech Republic and Hungary. The trip types listed there include expedition travel, cruises and golf trips alongside honeymoons.

Honeymoon on four wheels

A section headed "Hochzeitsreise mal anders - auf 4 Rädern" (a different kind of honeymoon, on 4 wheels) covers self-drive. With a campervan, the page says, you follow your own route without a plan. For a rental car trip, the agency puts together an itinerary, books the car and the hotels, and you simply drive. It invites couples to ask for routes and ideas. The agency also lists camper rental, rental-car round trips, guided tours, safaris, cruises, beach holidays, family travel and sports travel as types of trip.

Timing

A set of seasonal notices sits on the page. Christmas and New Year in the Maldives, the Caribbean or Thailand are bookable now, and the page warns that the best resorts go early. Thailand, the Maldives or Mauritius in October work at short notice. Cherry blossom season in Japan is described as the most sought-after travel time there, worth planning early. For Antarctica, the expedition ships start from November, and the agency's specialists know the remaining places. For a couple setting a wedding date, these are the agency's own hints about which honeymoons need booking well ahead.

The team and how to book

The page says the agency's long-serving travel specialists give advice that is individual and based on their own real travel experience. A closing line repeats that Knecht specialists put your trip together without time pressure, from their own travel experience. There is a "Spezialisten-Team" page with the individual advisors.

Contact is by phone on +41 62 834 71 00, Monday to Friday from 09:00 to 18:00, or by the "Anfrage senden" (send inquiry) form, which the page describes as non-binding. The email address is shown in a protected form that reads as info@knecht-reisen.ch. The footer also links to current offers, catalogs, events, feedback, a branch page, a newsletter and the Knecht Gruppe's other travel agencies.

What the page leaves open

The page publishes no prices, no honeymoon packages and no minimum trip length. It does not state a booking lead time, apart from the seasonal notices. It does not explain what the wedding-abroad service includes or which countries it covers. Phone hours are weekdays only.

The site is in German, and the page does not say which languages the advisors work in. A couple who prefers English should say so in the inquiry form.

Who it suits

Knecht Reisen suits couples in Switzerland who want a personal advisor for a long-haul honeymoon, especially a self-drive or camper trip, a safari, or a peak-season beach stay that needs early booking. Its page also addresses marrying abroad and having the marriage recognized in Switzerland afterward, which makes it worth a call for couples considering a ceremony overseas. It suits couples less if they want to compare prices online or need an English-language site.
