Cascura is a photo booth rental from the Thun area, run by André and Kim, whose booth is a handmade wooden cabinet styled on the 1920s. The site's title reads "Fotobox mieten Bern & Thun", photo booth rental in Bern and Thun, and the footer describes Cascura as offering one-of-a-kind retro photo booths from Thun for weddings, parties and company events. The address is Bernstrasse 107A, 3613 Steffisburg. The company behind it is André Maurer GmbH, and the same booth is also presented on andremaurer.ch. The site is in German and publishes its prices.

The booth

The home page describes the booth as combining nostalgia with high-end technology, "handgefertigt aus edlem Holz", handmade from fine wood, quick and simple to use. The camera is a mirrorless system camera with a studio flash and softbox, which the page says gives photographer-quality pictures with no red eyes, even in a dark hall, and good lighting indoors or outdoors. Guests work it with a self-timer.

For styling, there is a "Vintage-Koffer voller Fundstücke", a vintage suitcase full of finds to dress up with, and a choice of 9 Cascura backgrounds, which the page describes as ranging from witty to glamorous. With the printer packages, every guest takes a photo home at once, printed in "Laborqualität auf seidenmattem Papier", lab quality on silk-matte paper, and all pictures also go into a gallery. A wedding couple, Joy Würsten, writes in the reviews that guests could get their photo by QR code, AirDrop or as a print straight from the booth.

Packages and prices

The pricing section, headed "Let's swing and sparkle!", names 3 packages after 1920s dances. All are per day, and all include setup and takedown and travel from Steffisburg at 80 Rp. (centimes) per kilometer.

  • Tango, CHF 550 per day: the booth without a printer, all photos digital. It includes the self-timer booth, background and accessories, a password-protected gallery for guests for 3 months, and all photos as downloads.
  • Foxtrott, CHF 795 per day: marked as the most popular choice. It adds a printer for up to 400 pictures and extends the guest gallery to 6 months.
  • Charleston, CHF 890 per day: the Foxtrott package plus a photo album, glue and pens, so guests can stick their prints in, which can double as a guest book.

The add-ons, listed as of July 2026, are: 400 extra prints for CHF 130; a logo and start screen for CHF 60; the album, glue and pens on their own for CHF 95; a custom background (fabric print plus rental of the frame to hang it) for CHF 500; a green screen on request; and on-site support during the event on request, which the page says is popular for company events and trade fairs.

For a wedding that wants prints on the night, the Foxtrott or Charleston package with its 400 prints is the starting point, and the extra-print option is there if the booth is busy late into the night. The travel rate means a venue further from Thun costs more, and a couple can work out that line of the bill before asking.

Who is behind it

The "Über uns" (about us) section introduces André and Kim as "zwei Bildmenschen mit Herz, Humor und einem Hang zu schönen Dingen", two image people with heart, humor and a soft spot for beautiful things. André is described as the creative head behind the camera, and Kim as the one who gives every photo its sparkle. The menu also links partners and a "Gatsby Event" page. A separate company section pitches the booth, with logo branding and instant printing, for customer events, staff parties and trade fairs, which is where the logo and start-screen add-on comes from; a couple can ask whether that screen can carry their names or a monogram instead.

What clients say

The home page shows reviews with an average of 5.0. Interlaken Tourismus, through its director of markets, praises the smooth setup and teardown and the booth's charm as an eye-catcher. The manager of Moments Thun calls the booth an indispensable highlight at his parties and credits André Maurer and his team. The manager of Frachtraum Thun writes that the cooperation was straightforward from the first call to the last photo at half past two in the morning. Two wedding clients, Joy Würsten and Silvan Bolli, describe the booth as a highlight of their weddings, and Silvan Bolli notes that André handled the organization, setup and teardown on his own.

What the site does not settle

The site does not give the booth's dimensions or the floor space and power it needs, which matters in a small room or a barn. It does not say whether the booth can stand outdoors in rain or strong sun, although the page says the flash works indoors and outdoors. It does not state print sizes. It does not say how many hours the day price covers or whether the booth stays unattended after setup, beyond on-site support being available on request. There are no cancellation terms on the home page; the footer links general terms (AGB).

The site is published in German only and does not say whether André and Kim work in English. It also does not name a service area beyond Bern, Thun and the travel rate from Steffisburg, so a couple marrying further afield, in the Bernese Oberland or beyond, should ask about availability and total travel cost.

Booking

Couples can check a date with the "Wunschtermin prüfen" (check preferred date) button, book through "Jetzt buchen", or contact Cascura by phone on 079 505 42 43 or by email at hallo@cascura.ch.

Who it suits

Cascura suits couples marrying around Thun and Bern who want a photo booth that looks like a piece of furniture rather than a machine, especially at a vintage, Art Deco or Gatsby-themed wedding, and who want to know the price before they ask. The Charleston package's album turns the booth into a guest book, which suits couples who want a keepsake beyond the prints. The caveats are the German-only site and the missing detail on space and outdoor use. Couples who want an attendant at the booth all night should ask for on-site support in the quote, since it is an add-on rather than part of the packages.
