Happy Click

Tap a star to rate

Happy Click rents a compact, self-service photo booth from Onnens, near Fribourg, for weddings, birthdays, baptisms and company events across the canton of Fribourg and the surrounding area. There is no technician on site: the couple collects the booth, sets it up after a short training, runs it through the evening and brings it back. That model keeps the service simple and suits couples who have someone reliable to handle the equipment.

The self-service model

The FAQ is plain about how it works. The booth fits in a standard small car ("une voiture standard style Twingo") and comes in 3 parts: the box, the stand and the printer. Anyone can carry it, and it can be moved around during the event. The one warning the site gives is to keep the printer flat in the car, never upright, or the print rolls can jam and the printer will not print on the night.

Collection is on a Thursday or Friday and return on the following Monday or Tuesday. In September the days are the same but afternoons only, and for weekday events the business says it adapts. At collection, the renter gets a training session of 20 minutes, a written assembly guide and help if needed. The FAQ says installation takes 10 minutes (the homepage says 5), and the booth needs about 2 m² of floor space and a socket within 10 m. Guests press the touchscreen to start, pose alone or in a group, and pick up their prints.

Equipment and print formats

The FAQ describes the hardware as a real Canon reflex camera, a professional thermal printer, a 12-inch touchscreen and its own lighting. Shots are unlimited. Printing is not automatic: a guest taps "imprimer" to print, so only the photos people want get printed, which the site presents as a way to limit waste. A print takes 8 seconds, according to the service page.

Guests leave with prints in 10×15 cm, 5×15 cm strips, or 10×10 cm on a second printer model. The FAQ gives the print quotas: 200 or 400 prints in 10×15 cm, up to 800 strips in 5×15 cm (each strip prints twice), or 50 or 100 prints in 10×10 cm. The service page describes three packages of 200, 400 or 800 photos in 10×15 cm and up to 1600 strip photos, and the homepage sums the range as 75 to 1600 personalized prints, so a couple should confirm which package they are booking. The booth can also be rented without a printer at all.

How many prints a wedding needs

Happy Click gives unusually direct advice on volume. For a wedding it strongly recommends 400 prints ("Pour un mariage, nous conseillons fortement 400 impressions"), says 200 can be enough for a birthday, and warns that above 100 guests, 200 prints will be tight. When the quota runs out, nothing stops: the booth keeps taking pictures without printing, the extra photos go onto the USB stick, and guests can still send themselves the pictures by email.

What is included and what is optional

Every rental includes unlimited shots, a props kit of moustaches and mouths on sticks, email sending, and filters such as black and white and Instagram-style effects, with GIFs and Boomerang clips also free. Emails go out once the booth is back at the agency, not live during the party, which is worth knowing if guests expect a photo on their phone that night. These options can be switched off.

The final print is personalized with the couple's names and the date, or a logo, and can hold 1 to 4 different photos. The site says there are around fifty layout templates, and more than one can be chosen. After the event the couple receives a USB stick with every photo, both with and without the personalized frame.

Paid options include extra props, an online gallery where guests download photos or order extra prints, a guestbook pack with an album, tape and pen (the site suggests the strip format so there is a second copy for the book), and an audio guestbook, a vintage telephone that records guests' messages.

Booking, payment and support

Booking runs online and, according to the site, takes 5 minutes. The FAQ sets out the money: a payment of 85 to 140 € (by Twint or cash) depending on the booth chosen without printing, with the options (prints, telephone, guestbook) and the balance paid on collection day. On that day the business also needs a security deposit of 1200 €, arranged online beforehand, and an ID document. The prices are given in euros on a Swiss site, so a couple should confirm the currency when booking. Returning customers receive a loyalty card with discounts on future bookings.

During the event, the phone line answers 7 days a week from 9 am to midnight if something goes wrong. The office line runs Monday to Saturday from 9 am to 7 pm, contact is Ophélie at +41774792584 or happyclickswiss@gmail.com, and visits to Onnens are by appointment only. The reservation form asks for the event date and the number of guests.

What the site does not settle

The site does not say whether the booth can stand outdoors or needs weather protection, so a garden reception needs that question answered. It does not describe what happens if the hardware fails during the party beyond the phone support. There is no delivery option: the booth is collected from and returned to Onnens. And the whole site is in French, with no mention of English, so couples who do not speak French should ask whether the 20-minute training and the evening phone support can be given in English.

Who it suits

Happy Click suits couples marrying in the canton of Fribourg who want a real camera and prints on a modest budget and have a friend or relative happy to collect, set up and return the booth. The published advice on print volumes and the clear payment terms make it easy to plan.

It suits less well a couple who wants a staffed booth, or anyone without a car and a free Thursday or Friday to collect it. Guests expecting their photos by email the same evening will be disappointed, since emails go out after the return, and the deposit of 1200 € on collection day is a real amount to plan for.
