MyFotobox
Tap a star to rate
MyFotobox rents a Swiss-built, self-service photo booth from three pick-up points: Opfikon near Zurich, Niederwangen near Bern, and Wil in the canton of St. Gallen. It is run by Künzli Event GmbH, the site has a full English version, and prices are published: CHF 399 per day of use for the booth, with printing, props, backdrops and delivery as add-ons. The site describes itself as the No. 1 in Switzerland and counts more than 1,300 events since 2018, with a 5.00 rating from more than 250 Google reviews.
The booth
The current booth, the Photo Booth All-In-One, was developed and built in Zurich, according to the site, and made in a local carpentry workshop by Lake Zurich. The blog says it grew out of more than 400 uses of earlier booths. It combines a 24-megapixel DSLR, a studio flash with a panoramic diffuser, a large touchscreen with live view, LED panels for boomerangs, adjustable ambient LEDs, a sturdy 3-legged tripod and a metal frame in an industrial look. Inside is a mobile router with a Swisscom SIM card, so guests can share their shots immediately by QR code or email. At the back sits an additional iPad where guests browse their pictures while the next group is posing at the front.
Guests choose on the touchscreen between photos, GIFs and boomerangs. Shots are unlimited, everything is saved, and the photos upload live to an online gallery during the event, which stays available for 3 months. The link is shown at the booth and sent again afterwards.
Prices
The base rental, the Photo Booth All-In-One, costs CHF 399 per day of use as a pick-up price and includes unlimited digital shots, the online gallery, collection and return from Monday to Friday, detailed instructions and 24/7 support by phone and TeamViewer. The add-ons:
- Costume box with glasses, wigs, masks and hats: CHF 49 per day of use
- Customized photo layout, choosing from over 50 layouts: CHF 49
- Unlimited printouts: CHF 149 per day of use, with a second printer box in the same design beside the booth, 10 seconds per print, thermal sublimation in lab quality, and about 1,000 prints supplied per event day in 10x15 cm
- Backdrop, a 2.44 x 2.44 m metal frame with fabric cover and transport bag: CHF 59 per day of use
- AI background removal, which puts guests in front of any background without a green screen, taking 5 to 10 seconds per shot: CHF 69 per day of use
- Delivery, installation, dismantling and return: a flat CHF 249 plus CHF 1.00 per km
The site's sample calculation shows how the kilometers add up: a venue 6 km from the depot means 24 km driven (there and back to set up, there and back to dismantle), so delivery costs CHF 273. All prices include 8.1% VAT, and cancellation is free up to 28 days before the event.
How a rental works
The couple collects the booth a few days before the event and returns it a few days later, Monday to Friday, and pays only for the day of use. If the party runs into the next morning, that does not count as a second day. The booth measures 50 x 50 x 30 cm for transport and the printer box 40 x 30 x 57 cm; the site says it is not designed for public transport and recommends coming in pairs. At the venue, it recommends 3 x 3 m for the whole booth corner, and a wall that reflects as little as possible, or one of its backdrops.
About 3 weeks before the event, MyFotobox sends the booking details and instructions. Custom graphics or a full layout (2000 x 3000 pixels) need to arrive at least 2 weeks before. Photos are not printed automatically by default: guests look at each picture on the iPad at the back and print the ones they like, although automatic printing can be set on request. Unprinted photos are saved too. Payment is by invoice after the event, with 30 days to pay.
The site offers a satisfaction guarantee: if a problem during the party is not solved within 15 minutes of calling the emergency number, the customer gets their money back. The FAQ is clear on weather: outdoors in fine weather, yes; in the rain, no, as the booth is neither waterproof nor splash-proof.
Help beyond self-service
For corporate clients, the site says a dedicated contact person coordinates the event and can take over communication with the venue or provide staff for on-site support if required. The named contact on the homepage is Fabian Künzli. There are also data protection options: password-protected galleries, and on request no cloud upload and deletion straight after the event. The same approach is available to a couple who would rather not have their wedding photos in a cloud gallery.
The regional sites
Künzli Event also runs regional sites for Zurich, Bern and St. Gallen with the same phone numbers and contact. The Zurich site says pick-up and return in Zurich run on weekdays from 07.00 to 20.00, that delivery and return are also possible at weekends as an extra, and that the price is the same whether the booth is rented at the weekend or during the week. It still describes three earlier models (Mobile, Pro and Multimedia), so a couple should confirm which booth they are booking.
What to ask
The site does not say whether staff can stay at a private wedding all evening and at what price; the on-site support is described for corporate events. It does not give delivery limits for remote or mountain venues, only the per-kilometer rate from the nearest depot. The contact is 044 505 60 39 or myfotobox@kuenzli-event.ch, with a separate emergency number for technical support.
Who it suits
MyFotobox suits couples in the Zurich, Bern or eastern Switzerland regions who are happy to collect a booth, set it up with instructions and run it themselves, and who want every price on the table before booking. The English site, invoice payment and remote support make it one of the easier booths to arrange from abroad.
It suits less well a couple who wants a staffed booth as standard, or a couple without a car and a helper for the pick-up, since the booth is not made for public transport. With printing, props and delivery added, the total rises well above the base price, and the online calculator is the way to see it.
