BAIUSHKI

BAIUSHKI is a jewelry label and studio in Basel that has made what it calls sculptural jewelry since 2016, handcrafted from recycled precious metals. Its look is organic: soft waves, twists, hammered edges and shapes drawn from riverbeds, rock and driftwood. Alongside its silver and gold-plated collections and a fine gold line, BAIUSHKI makes custom wedding rings, and its wedding ring page is unusually complete, with a stated process, timeline and price range.

Who makes the rings

The designer behind the label is Lea Good, who trained as a florist and fashion designer before turning to jewelry. The About page describes her as someone who loves to make everything by hand, and says the jewelry is to a large extent made directly by her in the Basel studio, with partner ateliers in Switzerland, Germany and Italy for some steps. Arnaud Pernet, co-founder, runs the organization, finance and strategy. The team page also introduces Candice Arzaga, head of marketing, and Anita Kastrati, who looks after client relations and welcomes visitors to the studio.

For wedding rings the page is specific: the rings are made by Lea in the Basel studio, with some steps done in partner ateliers in Switzerland. From the wax model to casting and finishing, the ring is made by hand. The metals are fully recycled or sustainably sourced within the fair standards of the RJC, the industry council for responsible sourcing, and the About page adds that BAIUSHKI uses recycled silver and recycled 18k (750) yellow gold certified by the Swiss OEKOGOLD label.

How a commission works

The wedding ring page sets out the process step by step.

1. First meeting. You meet Lea at the Basel studio to get a feel for the design language, look at ring styles and talk through your ideas. Couples co-create their own version of the brand's organic forms directly with her.
2. Wax model. Depending on the design, Lea then carves a wax ring by hand. After about 2 to 4 weeks you come back to try on the wax model and discuss adjustments.
3. Making and finishing. The ring is cast and finished, and engraved if you wish.

From start to finish the page gives about 2 to 3 months for a custom ring. Appointments for custom commissions are available on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, with some Saturdays in the month for exceptional needs, and are booked through the contact page.

What it costs

BAIUSHKI states its prices on the wedding ring page. A unique custom ring by Lea starts at CHF 1000, and depending on materials the final price usually ranges from CHF 1500 to CHF 3000 per ring. After the first meeting the studio sends a quote.

Engraving inside the ring is included at no extra cost. Couples can choose names in their own handwriting or a symbol, and the engraving is done by a specialist laser engraving atelier in Switzerland that BAIUSHKI works with.

Examples on the page

The page shows a series of finished commissions, which give a clear sense of the style. Most are in 750 yellow gold: a matte pair with a minimal design where his ring has a classic form and hers an unexpected detail; a pair where his has a hammered edge and matte finish and hers an organic twisting form with a shiny finish; oval rings with a brushed, lively matte texture. There is a pair in 750 rose gold formed by hand with a twist, organically waved rings for her and him in 925 silver, and delicate hammered friendship rings. The common thread is a pair that belongs together without being identical.

Beyond the commissions, the fine gold collection lists ready-made pieces in 18k gold, including the TWINE, AGAPI, NYSSA and RIVER rings, which some couples may want to look at as an engagement ring or a ring to stack with the wedding band. For the long term, the About page says BAIUSHKI repairs its own jewelry in the Basel atelier and can polish pieces again, or re-plate them with 18K gold plating, which is reassuring for a ring meant to be worn every day for decades.

A second store in Zurich

BAIUSHKI is opening a second store in Zurich, in the stone arches of the Viadukt. The Zurich page gives the opening as autumn 2026 and describes it as a place to discover the collections and see how jewelry is made. Until it opens, the wedding ring process described on the site takes place in Basel.

For couples from abroad

The site is in English and German, and the shop offers a long list of countries and currencies at checkout, from Switzerland in francs to the United States, the United Kingdom and much of Europe. The custom wedding process, though, is built around at least two visits to the studio: the first meeting and the wax fitting a few weeks later. A couple based abroad needs to plan two trips to Basel, or ask whether the fitting can be handled differently.

What the site leaves open:

• Whether the first consultation can happen by video for a couple not yet in Switzerland.
• How the finished rings are handed over or shipped if the couple has already left.
• Which languages Lea and the team work in; the site is in English and German, but it does not state the consultation languages.
• Whether ready-made pieces from the silver or gold collections can serve as wedding bands, since the wedding page is only about custom work.

Who it suits

BAIUSHKI suits couples who like an organic, sculptural look, want to design their rings with the person who will make them, and value recycled and certified metals. The published process and price range make it unusually easy to plan: budget roughly CHF 1500 to CHF 3000 per ring, and allow 2 to 3 months.

It suits less well a couple in a hurry or one that cannot come to Basel at least twice. And a couple looking for a classic, high-polish, perfectly symmetrical band will find the house style deliberately imperfect and handmade, which is the point of the label rather than a flaw.
