A wedding ring specialist on the Bälliz in Thun
Bijouterie Bläuer, the trading name of Bläuer Uhren Bijouterie AG, is a watch and jewelry house at Bälliz 40 in 3600 Thun, which describes itself as having stood on the Bälliz, right by the small bridge known locally as the Parkhusbrüggli, for more than 50 years. Watches and jewelry fill most of its catalog, but its wedding ring page presents the house as an Ehering Experte, a wedding ring expert, and wedding rings have their own corner in the shop. The business also runs trauringprofi.ch, a wedding ring website it shares with a second Thun jeweler, which adds material advice, service details and online booking.
MEISTER at the center
The wedding ring page is built around one maker. Bläuer says it has deliberately focused for more than 50 years on the expertise of MEISTER, which it calls the most traditional Swiss wedding ring manufacturer. As a MEISTER premium partner, the shop says it can show the complete collection of MEISTER engagement rings, wedding rings and memoire rings, each made individually for the customer, and that seeing them in the shop lets you feel the difference between real gold, real platinum and real diamonds. The page stresses well-trained advisers, because materials, techniques and wearing comfort are what set MEISTER rings apart, and it says these ring experts take plenty of time for each couple.
The online catalog shows what that means in practice. The wedding ring section lists 48 MEISTER rings, 11 of them bicolor, and the material filter shows yellow gold (9), platinum (2), red and rose gold (15), silver (3) and white gold (34). The joint wedding ring site adds that the house is an official partner of the brands Meister, Eduard G. Fidel, Furrer Jacot and Locher Schmuck, so MEISTER is the focus rather than the only choice. It also says creative couples can design their rings with the online configurator or forge one-off rings by hand together with the goldsmith.
The ring corner and the configurator
Under the heading "Zeit für die Liebe" (time for love), the page describes the engagement and wedding ring corner: a quiet spot, removed from the bustle, where the partner ring experts sit down with a couple over a glass of champagne to make the decision together, whether engagement ring, wedding ring or partner ring. The page's point is that the rings should be comfortable to wear and suit the couple's personality.
Before visiting, a couple can use the MEISTER 3D ring configurator on meisterschmuck.ch, which Bläuer provides as a premium partner. The design becomes the starting point for the consultation, which the page says can be arranged online. The joint site has its own button to book a consultation appointment.
After the purchase
The house has its own goldsmith atelier. Rings can be engraved, and the joint site offers a choice of fonts. After the purchase, the atelier is available for all service work at preferential rates, and if the rings were bought at Bläuer, the first reworking and cleaning is free. The service page explains that any wedding ring made of precious metal can be resized later, and that the goldsmith will alter a ring to the right size within a few days. Worn surface structures can be cleaned and refreshed, though the page is honest that deep scratches may still show.
The material advice page is a useful primer. It explains that 750 gold (750 parts gold in 1000) is the usual alloy in Switzerland, that 99% of white gold rings are rhodium-plated and that the atelier can re-plate them when the layer wears, that red and rose gold take their color from copper, and that platinum is about 30 times rarer than gold and loses very little weight through wear. It also covers carbon rings, whose fiber winding makes every ring unique.
Beyond the rings
Because Bläuer is a full watch and jewelry house, the rest of the shop can matter for a wedding too. The jewelry brands listed on the site include Gellner, Capolavoro, Chopard, Rivoir and Ti Sento, and the watch brands include IWC Schaffhausen, Breitling, Omega, Chopard, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Longines, Erwin Sattler and Tissot. A couple looking for a wedding-day watch as a gift, or earrings and a necklace to wear with the dress, can deal with the same advisers. The material page also notes that white gold alloyed with palladium, sometimes called gray gold, avoids the slight yellow tint of the more common alloy, a detail worth raising at the consultation.
Opening hours, contact and payment
The main site lists Monday 13:30 to 18:30, Tuesday to Friday 09:00 to 12:15 and 13:00 to 18:30, and Saturday 09:00 to 17:00. The joint wedding ring site gives slightly different hours, with a late-opening Thursday until 20.00, so it is worth confirming before a visit. Contact is by phone on +41 (0) 33-223 21 66 or by email to info@blaeuerag.ch.
The shop offers payment in installments through HeyLight AG: 0% interest, no deposit, over 12 or 24 months, with a minimum age of 25.
For couples from abroad
Both sites are in German only, and neither says whether consultations are available in English, so a couple who does not speak German should ask by email first. Neither publishes prices for the wedding rings shown online, nor the production time for a MEISTER ring made to order, which is the key question for a couple fixing a date from abroad. Nor do they say whether rings can be sent abroad after a consultation.
Who it suits
Bijouterie Bläuer suits couples who want to compare a broad MEISTER range in person, like the idea of a quiet consultation corner, and want a local atelier for resizing and refreshing the rings afterward. The configurator lets a couple from abroad prepare before arriving in Thun, and the free first reworking and the installment option are practical extras.
It suits less well a couple who wants a one-off ring from an independent designer, since the offer centers on a few established Swiss makers, or a couple who needs English-language service confirmed in advance. The conflicting opening hours across the two sites are a minor nuisance that a phone call settles.
