Evelyne-M is a goldsmith and fine jewelry store at Badenerstrasse 119 in 8004 Zürich, which introduces itself as a Swiss goldsmith and fine jewelry artist since 2010. Its founder and goldsmith is Evelyne Meyer, and the business works as a small team: a job notice on the same page says it is growing and looking for someone to join. Alongside an online shop of rings, earrings, necklaces and bracelets, the store has a page called Love Celebration that sets out three wedding services: custom wedding bands, one-off engagement rings, and jewelry designed together as a couple.

Custom wedding bands

The wedding band section starts from the couple rather than the catalog. The page says each person has different needs, preferences and visions, so there should be no compromises on this piece of jewelry, and that what the usual "Norm" or "Tradition" dictates moves into the background. What matters is that both partners wear their rings with joy and pride, and that the two rings, though each suited to its wearer, form a harmonious pair.

Evelyne makes the rings for each couple personally in the studio. In a personal appointment, the couple and Evelyne talk through wearing comfort, design, the best choice of material, aesthetic details, colors of metal and stone, and ring shapes that suit their hands. The page says she brings her expertise and long experience to the process and considers it an honor to accompany a couple on it.

The page adds that the rings should feel as though they had always belonged to their wearers, and that they will not only accompany the couple after the ceremony but bear daily witness to their connection. That is the tone of the whole service: slow, personal and built around conversation.

Booking starts online: the wedding band section ends with a registration button for an appointment request, and the engagement ring and couple's jewelry sections have their own.

Engagement rings

The engagement ring service, headed "Only Once Engagement Ring," is designed together with Evelyne, with particular attention to how the engagement ring will sit with the future wedding band. The page offers two unusual personal touches. A couple can bring a stone they found together, and the atelier's experienced stone cutter will shape any mineral into the form they want. And it is even possible to have a personalized laboratory diamond made in Switzerland from materials the client supplies. The page presents the engagement ring as a record of a couple's shared story as much as a promise.

Jewelry for two

The third service is love celebration jewelry: a bracelet, necklace or pair of earrings designed together as a couple. The page describes designing and wearing a piece together as a ritual, and Evelyne guides the choice of material, durability, design and look so the piece fits into daily life. It suggests that putting a chain on each other can itself seal a promise. For a wedding, this could mean matching pieces for the couple, or a gift to mark the day beyond the rings.

Materials

All three services use Oekogold-certified recycled metals. For wedding bands, a couple can also have the rings made from their own old gold, which is a practical option for anyone holding inherited jewelry. Stones are chosen with long-standing, vetted gemstone dealers who have worked with the studio for years.

The founder

Evelyne Meyer's own statement on the page is about time. In German she writes that creations only reveal their personality when we take time with the person in front of us or with ourselves, that creativity and uniqueness are not produced on an assembly line, and that ideas arise from calm and the present moment, "Unplanbar. Nicht erzwingbar." (Unplannable. Not to be forced.) It is a clear signal that this is not a quick-turnaround shop.

Preparing for the appointment

Because the page lists exactly what the first appointment covers, a couple can prepare. Think about how the rings should feel to wear every day, which metal colors and stones you are drawn to, and whether the two rings should match or simply belong together. If you have old gold to melt down or a stone with a story, bring it. And if an engagement ring already exists, bring that too, since the page stresses fitting the wedding band to it.

Visiting and contact

The store is at Badenerstrasse 119, 8004 Zürich. The opening hours listed are 12:00 to 19:00 on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, and 11:00 to 17:00 on Saturday. Contact is by phone on +41 44 240 33 77 or by email to concierge@evelyne-m.ch. The concierge section lists service, repair and engraving, jewelry care, guides to diamonds, gemstones and precious metals, and returns and exchanges.

For couples from abroad

The Love Celebration page is written in German, although the site's banner and navigation use English. It does not say whether consultations are held in English, so a couple who does not speak German should ask when requesting an appointment.

What the page does not settle:

  • Prices. There is no price guide for custom wedding bands or engagement rings.
  • Timing. No production time is given, and the founder's own words suggest the process should not be rushed, so allow plenty of time before the wedding.
  • Remote design. The page does not say whether design can begin before a couple is in Zurich, or whether finished rings are shipped abroad.
  • Opening days. The store is open four days a week, Wednesday to Saturday, which a couple on a short visit needs to plan around.

Who it suits

Evelyne-M suits couples who want their rings made personally by the goldsmith they meet, who care about certified recycled metal or want to reuse their own gold, and who are drawn to unusual personal touches such as a stone found together or a lab diamond made from their own material. The couple's jewelry service is a distinctive extra.

It suits less well a couple in a hurry, one who needs a price before making contact, or one who can only visit Zurich early in the week, when the store is closed.
