Gygax Juwelier
Tap a star to rate
Gygax Juwelier is a jeweler and watch shop at Bahnhofstrasse 31 in Aarau, run by Gygax Uhren Schmuck Erleben AG. Its wedding-ring page, headed "Trauringe & Hochzeit" (wedding rings and wedding), lays out three ways to buy rings: every model from the Meister wedding-ring manufacturer in stock to try on, rings made to measure by the shop's own designers and goldsmith, and rings made from a couple's old gold. Engraving comes on top, and the page offers it free to a first group of couples.
The Meister collection, all in stock
The first section is about Meister, the ring manufacturer the shop works with as a "Meister Premium-Partner". The page says every model of the Meister wedding-ring manufacture is kept in stock at Gygax, so each shape variant is ready to try on. Material and color variants that are not physically there can be viewed on the shop's virtual tools.
For a couple, that is a practical advantage: they can try on the actual shapes rather than choose from a catalog picture, then see the model in other metals on a screen. The menu also lists Meister engagement rings, and the page offers a printed wedding-ring catalog that can be ordered to your home through a short form.
Beyond Meister, the jewelry menu lists an engagement ring called LARA, memoire rings, monogram rings, signet rings and remembrance rings (Erinnerungsringe), along with pearl and diamond jewelry that could suit a wedding outfit.
Rings made to measure
The second route is the shop's own work. Under "Trauringe nach Mass angefertigt" (wedding rings made to measure), the page says the Gygax designers draw the couple's dream rings and the shop's goldsmith then makes the partner rings, all by hand and entirely to the couple's wishes ("Alles in Handarbeit").
The page does not describe the steps in more detail, how many meetings are involved, or how long a made-to-measure pair takes.
Rings from old gold
The third route is the one with the most personal story. The page suggests that most people have old jewelry at home that stands for good memories but that they no longer want to wear for good reasons. The couple bring their pieces together, and the rings are made directly from that metal ("Direkt aus diesem Metall fertigen wir Ihre Partnerringe"). The idea, in the page's words, is to keep the couple's shared stories and create the symbol of their togetherness from jewelry both have contributed.
The page adds a practical point: the color of the precious metal plays a minor role. If a couple only have yellow gold, the rings can be rhodium-plated so that they look like white gold.
Engraving
The engraving section starts with the basics, the date and your names, and says that a great deal is possible. For Meister rings the options run from classic script and a laser-engraved copy of your own handwriting to Handlinien (the lines of your hand), a love text in micro-script, or even your fingerprint in the shape of a heart.
At the top of the page, the shop says that for the first 100 couples who find their rings at Gygax, an exclusive engraving that symbolizes their personal story comes free of charge ("Für die ersten 100 Paare, die ihre Ringe bei uns finden, wartet eine exklusive Gravur, die eure persönliche Geschichte symbolisiert, kostenfrei dazu."). The page does not say how many of those places remain.
Timing and appointments
The page urges couples not to leave it late. In its own words, "Die Zeit bis zu eurem grossen Tag vergeht schnell" (the time until your big day passes quickly), so it recommends a consultation to make sure the rings are ready on time and exactly as wished. Appointments can be booked online through a link at the top of the page ("Termin sofort erhalten", get an appointment straight away) or by phone on 062 832 52 52.
The site also states its values in the wedding copy: a belief that true love lies in the details, and a commitment to ethically sourced materials and handmade perfection. It does not name specific certifications or metal sources.
Which hand? A note for international couples
One section is useful for couples from different countries. The page explains that in Switzerland the friendship ring was traditionally worn on the right ring finger and the wedding ring on the left, that what counts as traditional differs from country to country, and that couples today simply wear the ring on the finger that is right for them. It also covers friendship rings, noting that they were once silver and are now made in stainless steel, carbon or titanium as well as white gold, platinum, red gold or yellow gold.

What the site leaves open
- Prices. The wedding-ring page publishes no prices for Meister rings, made-to-measure rings or rings from old gold.
- Lead times. No production time is given for any of the three routes.
- Language. The page is written in German, using the informal form with couples, and says nothing about consultations in English.
- Shipping. The site has a shopping cart, but the wedding page says nothing about sending rings abroad.
Who it suits
Gygax suits couples in the Aarau area who want to try on a whole manufacturer's range in one place and then personalize the result. The complete Meister stock, the virtual tools for other materials and the long list of engraving options make it a strong choice for couples who know they want a ring from an established maker. The made-to-measure and old-gold routes give an alternative for couples who want something of their own or want to carry family jewelry into their rings.
Couples planning from abroad will find the German-only page and the absence of prices and lead times the main hurdles. The online booking link makes a first appointment easy to arrange, and it is worth asking at that point about language and how long each route takes.
