Mundwiler Juwelen

Tap a star to rate

Mundwiler Juwelen is a jeweler and watch shop at Kasinostrasse 3 in Winterthur. Its team page describes it as "älteste Manufaktur in Winterthur" (the oldest manufactory in Winterthur), in family ownership since 1955, and it runs its own goldsmith atelier, a watchmaking workshop and a gemology lab. For couples, the draw is the wedding section: engagement rings with published prices, partner rings made in the house workshop, and a clear statement that its individual wedding rings are for every couple.

Engagement rings

The wedding page (Hochzeit) opens with engagement rings. It says engagement rings are usually bought in secret with a pounding heart, and that the shop is happy to give love a helping hand ("Wir helfen der Liebe gern auf die Sprünge") with a large selection of exclusive models. Together with the buyer, in a thorough consultation, the team finds the right proposal ring: classic or modern, with an impressive solitaire in different cuts or something more discreet.

Mundwiler shows prices for several pieces on this page. Rings in the engagement section appear at CHF 540, CHF 680 and CHF 1,120, and alliance rings with diamonds at CHF 1,200, while one engagement ring is marked "Preis auf Anfrage" (price on request). The page also links an engagement-ring brochure and a diamond brochure.

Partner and wedding rings from the workshop

For wedding rings, the page uses the term Partnerringe (partner rings) and makes the workshop the center of the offer. "Ihr Glück können wir nicht schmieden", it says (we cannot forge your happiness), but the rings that express it are gladly made in the workshop. People are unique, so the shop offers a selection of partner rings that reflect individuality, and "Natürlich realisieren wir auch Unikate, ganz nach Ihren Wünschen" (of course we also make one-off pieces, entirely to your wishes). Couples can design their rings with the goldsmiths, in silver, platinum or gold in all colors, with stones of their choice. There is also a partner-ring brochure.

The page adds that wedding rings are chosen together and usually given a personal engraving.

Mr. & Mr. and rings for every couple

A news post from 19 April 2024 presents "Mr. & Mr.", a pair of men's wedding rings made in the Mundwiler goldsmith workshop to a customer's wishes. They are made of platinum 950 and set with brilliant-cut diamonds: the center stone is a rare champagne-colored diamond surrounded by a ring of white diamonds, and the surface design and central pattern were developed by the goldsmiths in close consultation with the customers. Each ring carries an individual engraving inside.

The post states the principle plainly: "In unserem hauseigenen Atelier fertigen wir individuelle Trauringe für alle Paare an, unabhängig von Geschlecht oder Orientierung." In English: in the in-house atelier they make individual wedding rings for all couples, regardless of gender or orientation. It adds that men's rings in platinum with diamonds are especially popular, that men's rings can also be made in gold, and that on request the shop documents every step of making the rings as a keepsake. The post says Mundwiler has made individual wedding rings in its own atelier for over 60 years, and invites couples to its Trauringlounge (wedding-ring lounge) in Winterthur.

Bridal jewelry and alliance rings

The wedding page also covers bridal jewelry (Brautschmuck), with the line that the jewelry is what truly completes the bride's look, and alliance rings, which it notes can be added to stone by stone over the years. Alliance rings in black and in rose gold are shown at CHF 630 and CHF 830.

Sourcing, ateliers and services

The About page says the shop sources its jewels exclusively from responsible and sustainable sources and is happy to travel the world for them ("Wir beziehen unsere Juwelen ausschließlich aus verantwortungsvollen und nachhaltigen Quellen"). It lists its in-house ateliers: a watchmaking workshop, a goldsmith workshop, a gemology lab and a creative team. The service page says the watchmaking workshop is certified by leading manufacturers and that the goldsmiths make one-off pieces and do repairs, with gold and platinum as the preferred materials. It also buys old gold at the daily rate, for cash or as a voucher, and offers valuations.

Gift vouchers are available for CHF 20, 50, 100 and 200, valid for two years from the date of issue.

The team

The shop is owned and led by Ursula Trivisano-Mundwiler, who writes that her great passion is pearls, and Donato Trivisano, owner and gemologist. Nadia Di Domenico is the managing director and has been with the company for over 30 years. The team page names a large staff in sales, a goldsmith (Nadja Koch), watchmakers and administration, and says the family has run the business for more than 70 years. The team page sets the tone with the line that visitors are not customers but guests (Gast), and one adviser, Jacqueline Hufenus, writes that she likes to bring the goldsmiths and watchmakers into a consultation. The menu also links a company chronicle.

What the site leaves open

  • Wedding-ring prices. Engagement and alliance rings are priced, but partner and custom wedding rings are not.
  • Lead time. The site does not say how long a pair of workshop rings takes.
  • Language. The site is in German only and does not mention consultations in English.
  • Phone and access. The contact page gives an e-mail address and a map link but no phone number or directions.

Who it suits

Mundwiler suits couples in and around Winterthur who want wedding rings made in a long-established family workshop, and especially couples who value an explicit welcome regardless of gender or orientation. The published engagement-ring prices help with budgeting, and the option of a documented making process adds a personal record.

Couples planning from abroad should use the appointment request to confirm language and timing, since the site is German-only and gives no production time for custom rings.
