SalmUnikat Schmuck Uhren GmbH

Tap a star to rate

SalmUnikat Schmuck Uhren GmbH is a jewelry and watch shop at Dorfstrasse 29 in Schöftland, in the canton of Aargau, owned by Claudia Salm Hochuli and run with a small team of women advisers. Its wedding ring page makes one main promise: "Wir haben eine grosse Auswahl an Trauringen und Verlobungsringen in unserem Geschäft" (we have a large selection of wedding and engagement rings in our shop). This is a place to try rings on in person, not an online shop.

What the shop offers couples

The ring page is short and direct. It invites couples to come in and be convinced by the team and the products, and says "Gerne beraten wir Sie vor Ort" (we are happy to advise you in the shop). The services page lists wedding ring advice (Trauring Beratung) and engagement ring advice (Verlobungsring Beratung) as services in their own right, alongside repairs and piercing.

The page names four ring collections the shop carries:

  • Diadoro
  • Alliances by Pfalzer
  • 4 ever by Pfalzer
  • Veto Partnerringe

These are manufacturers' collections, so the shop is a retailer for them rather than the maker. The advantage for a couple is that several collections can be compared side by side in one visit. The site does not describe the individual designs, materials or price ranges of these collections, and it does not mention making rings in-house or offering custom designs.

The wider menu covers watches, jewelry and gift ideas (Geschenkideen), which may be useful for a couple buying presents for parents, witnesses or the wedding party at the same time. There are also blog and news sections. Every page title on the site pairs the shop's name with "Schöftland, Aarau", and Aarau is the only other town the site names.

The team

The team page introduces everyone by name, with a few lines in their own words. It is the most detailed part of the site, and it gives a good sense of who a couple will meet in the shop. Every adviser carries the title "Fachberaterin Schmuck Uhren" (specialist adviser for jewelry and watches), and the services page calls the team "Ihre Fachfrauen für Schmuck und Uhren in Schöftland" (your specialists for jewelry and watches in Schöftland).

Claudia Salm Hochuli, the owner (Inhaberin), writes that founding SalmUnikat was "eine der besten Entscheidungen in meinem Leben" (one of the best decisions of my life), and that she enjoys working with her team and the shop's customers. Away from work she hikes, swims, does strength training and loves to cook.

Maria Chirico has been with the shop since the start. When a customer brings in a pearl necklace for repair, she is the one who re-knots it. She describes her working day as varied and every day as interesting, and outside work she spends time with her family, including 3 grandchildren.

Regina Maurizzi has also been part of the team since the start. Besides the day-to-day work, she likes bringing in ideas and being creative, whether decorating or wrapping gifts.

Rahel Stillhard joined in 2020 and works part time, since her main job, as she puts it, is being a mother of 2 small children. She also looks after the shop's social media behind the scenes.

Michaela Suter has been on the team since the beginning and works part time alongside a second job as a social educator. She says she values the contact with customers and enjoys the hands-on work, such as changing watch batteries and straps.

Most of the team have been with the shop since it opened, and the page makes it easy to know in advance who a couple will meet.

Services

The services page lists:

  • watch repair service for wristwatches;
  • battery replacement;
  • watch straps;
  • jewelry repair service;
  • pearl stringing and knotting;
  • ear piercing and nose piercing;
  • wedding ring advice;
  • engagement ring advice.

For a couple, the practical value is aftercare: a place to have jewelry repaired, pearls restrung or a watch battery changed after the wedding. The page gives no prices or turnaround times for any of these services.

Opening hours and contact

The shop is open Tuesday to Friday from 09:00 to 12:30 and from 14:00 to 18:30, and on Saturday from 09:00 to 15:00. It is closed on Sunday and Monday, as the published hours cover only Tuesday to Saturday. Note the midday break on weekdays when planning a visit.

The phone number is +41 62 721 40 40. The site does not display a plain email address, so the simplest written route is the contact form on the Kontakt page, which asks for a name, email address and phone number, with optional fields for street, postcode and town and a message.

What the site does not settle

  • Prices. No prices are published for rings or services.
  • Appointments. The site invites couples to drop in and does not say whether a ring consultation should be booked ahead. A phone call before a long journey is sensible, especially for a Saturday.
  • Language. The site is in German only and does not say whether the team advises in English.
  • Lead times. There is nothing on how long it takes to order a ring in a particular size, metal or finish from the manufacturers the shop carries, or on engraving.
  • Getting there. Beyond the street address and a location link, the site gives no directions, parking or public transport details.

Who it suits

SalmUnikat suits couples living in or near Schöftland and the wider Aargau area who want to compare several established wedding ring collections in person, with advice from a small, stable team they can get to know. The repair and pearl services make it a useful shop to stay in touch with after the wedding.

It is less suited to couples who want a ring designed and made from scratch, since the site mentions no in-house goldsmith work, or to couples who need to shop remotely or in English. Couples coming from abroad should call ahead to check English and to make sure the collection they are interested in is in stock on the day they visit.
