A made-to-order cake studio in Basel that works in English

Basel Bake is a small cake studio and bakery at Neuweilerstrasse 17 in 4054 Basel, run by a baker who introduces herself on the homepage simply as Kasia. It makes custom cakes for all kinds of occasions, and a dedicated wedding page sets out how a couple goes from a first inquiry to a cake delivered at the venue. For a couple planning from abroad the most useful fact comes first: the whole site is written in English, including the wedding page, the process and the booking forms.

Kasia describes herself as "the heart and hands behind my boutique cake studio, where every creation is made to order". The site's own description calls it a little home bakery in the heart of Basel, and its menu shows how wide the business runs beyond weddings: online ordering, custom cakes, a bakery and café, sweet catering, reservations and gift cards. Weddings are one strand of a broader made-to-order bakery rather than the studio's only work.

The wedding offer

The wedding page promises bespoke wedding cakes that reflect each couple's story and vision, and says the studio's decorators and bakers work closely with the couple on everything from the flavor combinations to the decoration. It names no styles, tiers, sizes or prices. What it does set out is a four-step process, and each step is specific enough to plan around.

First, the couple fills in a contact form describing the wedding, their first ideas and any special requests. Second, the studio invites them to a personal meeting at the Basel Bake studio, where they discuss "your wedding theme, guest count, design preferences, and all the lovely details that will make your cake uniquely yours." Third comes the tasting, which the page calls the best part: a selection of the studio's most popular and seasonal flavors, with different combinations of sponges, fillings and frostings to sample. Fourth, on the day itself, the studio delivers the cake to the venue and says it makes sure the cake "arrives safely, on time, and perfectly presented".

Two points matter for couples who live elsewhere. The consultation is described as an in-person meeting at the studio, and the site does not offer a video or phone alternative. And the delivery step says the cake goes directly to the venue, without naming an area, a distance limit or a delivery fee.

Baking philosophy, in Kasia's words

The homepage is short but personal. Kasia says she specializes in custom-made cakes "that are as unique as the people and celebrations they're created for", and that each cake is designed to combine elegant looks with balanced flavors, because she believes a cake should taste as good as it looks. On ingredients she is specific: "I use only natural ingredients, original recipes, and delicate flavor pairings". She adds that in her boutique bakery "quality always comes first" and that, for her, a cake is "the centerpiece of a celebration, a symbol of happiness, and a sweet memory in the making."

The wording shifts between "I" on the homepage and "we" on the wedding page, where the text mentions skilled decorators and bakers. The site does not say how many people work at the studio or who handles which part of a wedding order, so a couple who wants Kasia herself to design and decorate their cake should ask.

Sweet catering and other services

Below the wedding process sits a catering request form headed "Catering your event". It asks for the occasion (with "Wedding" as an option), the number of guests, the date and time, the event address and a description of the event, and the studio promises to come back with a quote. A menu link sits beside the form, but the menu itself is not reproduced on the page, so the site does not show which desserts or sweets the catering covers or what they cost. For a wedding this is the route to ask about a dessert table or sweets for the apéro alongside the cake.

The site also offers online ordering; the site description mentions ordering cakes and other sweets online with delivery in Basel. It is not clear from the pages whether a wedding cake can be ordered that way, and the wedding page itself sends couples to the contact form.

Contact, hours and getting there

The studio's address is Neuweilerstrasse 17, 4054 Basel. Opening hours are listed on the homepage: closed Monday to Wednesday, open Thursday and Friday from 12:00 to 18:00, and Saturday and Sunday from 11:00 to 17:00. A couple visiting Basel for the consultation or tasting should plan around those days. The phone number is +41 076 547 77 30 and the email address is kasia@basel-bake.ch; there is also a general message form on the homepage, and the contact page description mentions a live chat on the site. The pages do not describe public transport or parking at the studio.

What the site leaves open

The site publishes no wedding-cake prices, no minimum order, no deposit or payment terms and no lead time, so a couple cannot budget or plan the timeline from the page alone. It does not say how far the studio will deliver, whether delivery outside Basel costs extra, or whether the studio sets up the cake at the venue beyond delivering it presented. Dietary options (vegan, gluten-free, nut-free) are not mentioned anywhere. Nor does the site state whether the tasting is free, how many flavors it covers, or whether the consultation can happen remotely. All of these are questions to put in the first message through the form.

Who it suits

Basel Bake suits couples marrying in or around Basel who want a made-to-order cake from a small studio, and who can visit the studio at least once for the consultation and tasting. Its English-language site and forms make it easy for couples who do not speak German to start the conversation in writing, and the catering form, which lists weddings as an occasion, lets a couple ask for sweets beyond the cake from the same kitchen. The caveats are the in-person consultation, which is harder for couples who live abroad, the lack of any published prices, and the open question of how far the studio delivers, which matters for venues outside the city.
