A St.Gallen cake atelier with published prices

Brugger's My Wedding Cake is a cake atelier at Etzelbüntstrasse 17 in CH-9011 St.Gallen, run by Karin and Thomas, whose names and personal phone numbers appear on the site. It makes wedding cakes, chocolate cakes and cakes for other celebrations, and describes its work in its tagline as "Kreatives und delikates Cake Design" (creative and delicate cake design). The site promises cakes "in feinster Schweizer Confiseur Qualität" (in the finest Swiss confectioner quality) and lists the styles it works in: traditional, modern, romantic, colorful, imaginative, floral, made of chocolate, or decorated with gold.

What makes it unusually useful for a couple planning from abroad is that the site publishes prices, sizes, portion weights, delivery terms and payment terms on a single page. Few questions are left for the first call.

The wedding cakes

The site calls handmade sugar flowers of the finest quality, creative and imaginative decorations and the best recipes for cake fillings the calling card and the success of the business. Its chocolate cakes are built from light sponge layered with Creme Bavaroise Vanille, raspberry mousse or Mousse au chocolat, with each cake wrapped in thin melting chocolate plates, which the site says give any wedding or celebration cake an elegant look. For other occasions the atelier makes motif cakes with handmade decorations, and it says there are almost no limits to what can be modeled. The chocolate cakes come with a boast of their own, "Die köstlichsten Schokoladentorten seit es Schokolade gibt" (the most delicious chocolate cakes since chocolate has existed), which is the atelier's claim rather than anyone else's verdict, and the homepage invites couples to take inspiration from its many past creations.

The most popular fillings are Creme Bavaroise Vanille, raspberry mousse (Himbeermousse) and Mousse au chocolat. On request the atelier also makes strawberry, mango, passion fruit, hazelnut or mocha mousse. For guests with allergies or intolerances, the site says it will provide information about ingredients on request ("informieren wir Sie gerne auf Anfrage"), so that conversation belongs in the consultation. Portions are calculated at about 150 g per person, which the site itself describes as very generous.

Prices and sizes

The minimum order is CHF 150, which the site says corresponds to a decorated cake for 10 to 12 people. It then gives price examples for its most ordered wedding and celebration cakes with a classic decoration:

  • a 1-tier cake for 15 people at CHF 225
  • a 3-tier cake for 30 people at CHF 450
  • a 4-tier cake for 50 people at CHF 750

Cakes are made to the size needed ("genau auf Ihre gewünschte Grösse"), from 10 people on 1 tier up to 180 people on 7 tiers, so a couple orders by guest count rather than choosing from a few fixed sizes. The site adds that the final price always depends on the customer's decoration wishes, so the examples are a floor for classic decoration rather than a quote for an elaborate design. Even so, a couple can budget with these numbers before contacting the atelier.

Consultation and tasting

The site invites couples to a personal consultation with a tasting ("persönliches Beratungsgespräch mit Degustation") at the atelier in St.Gallen, and says Karin and Thomas look forward to planning the cake and desserts together with each couple. For a couple living abroad, this means the tasting happens in St.Gallen; the site does not describe a remote alternative or a tasting box sent by post, so a couple who cannot travel should ask how the consultation can be handled.

Delivery, collection and payment

Delivery is offered across Switzerland: on request the atelier delivers the cake directly into the cold room of the venue ("direkt in den Kühlraum Ihrer Lokalität"), with delivery costs added. That detail matters for a summer wedding at a hotel or restaurant, where the cake has to wait in refrigeration before it is served. The site does not publish the delivery charge or say how it is calculated.

Couples who collect the cake themselves can buy disposable cooling boxes with cooling elements, at CHF 48 per box, so that the cold chain is not interrupted on the way to the venue.

Payment terms are stated plainly: unless otherwise agreed, the atelier asks for payment 14 days in advance for wedding and celebration cakes ("eine 14 tägige Vorauszahlung"). The site does not list payment methods, so couples ordering from abroad should ask which ones are accepted.

Contact

The site gives two mobile numbers, +41 79 334 75 47 for Karin and +41 79 518 72 91 for Thomas, and invites couples to call or send a WhatsApp message ("Ganz einfach anrufen oder per WhatsApp melden"). There is a contact form and the email address info@myweddingcake.ch. The atelier also links to Facebook and Instagram, where more of its designs can be seen. The tasting takes place at the atelier's address, Etzelbüntstrasse 17 in St.Gallen; the site does not describe parking or public transport there, and it publishes no opening hours, so a visit is arranged by appointment through one of the contact routes above.

What the site does not settle

The site is written only in German and does not say which languages Karin and Thomas speak, so a couple who does not speak German should ask when they first get in touch; WhatsApp and email both make a written exchange straightforward. The delivery charge, the booking lead time and the latest date for changing the design or guest count are not published. The site does not say whether the atelier sets up the cake at the venue or supplies a cake stand, and it gives no information on vegan or gluten-free cakes beyond the offer to discuss allergens.

Who it suits

Brugger's My Wedding Cake suits couples who want a decorated, tiered wedding cake with sugar flowers or chocolate work, and who value knowing the price range before the first conversation. The size range, from 10 to 180 guests, covers both a small wedding and a large one, and delivery into the venue's cold room anywhere in Switzerland means the atelier's location in St.Gallen is less of a constraint than it might seem. The caveats are the German-only site, the in-person tasting in St.Gallen, and delivery costs that have to be asked for.
