La Framboésie
Tap a star to rate
La Framboésie is a cake design studio in the canton of Fribourg, founded and run by Daniela R., with orders collected in Cugy (FR). Its wedding page describes made-to-measure tiered cakes of 2 to 5 levels, decorated by hand, and it sets out the ordering steps and several of the fees more openly than most small cake makers do.
Who makes the cakes
The homepage introduces the founder in the first person: "Je m'appelle Daniela." She writes that she comes from the healthcare field, a world where rigor, listening and attention to others are essential, and that she now applies those same values to pastry. Cake design, she says, began as a passion present since childhood that grew over the years into a vocation, and with time became a work of precision and intention, in her words a practice "où chaque gâteau est conçu comme une pièce unique" (where every cake is conceived as a unique piece). She describes each creation as a meeting of aesthetics, taste and emotion, and says she never leaves the details to chance.
The site's general promise is that each piece is thought out, drawn and made by hand, with flavors worked "comme en haute pâtisserie" (as in fine patisserie), clean finishes and decorations shaped entirely by hand. Beyond wedding cakes, the menu lists personalized cakes for children and adults, bento cakes, cupcakes in all the house flavors, hand-decorated personalized biscuits (which the site suggests as gifts for guests or event souvenirs), a page on fillings and a page on workshops.
What the wedding offer includes
The wedding page, headed "Mariage Cake. Sur mesure", lists what the studio provides:
- tiered cakes ("pièces montées") of 2 to 5 levels, made to measure
- an exclusive design drawn by hand and never reproduced
- fresh ingredients and artisanal techniques
- classic flavors available all year, plus an exclusive new flavor created each season
- hand-shaped decorations, naming wafer paper flowers, modeling and gold leaf
- a tasting box before the design is approved
- delivery and installation at the reception venue
The page explains the techniques used: buttercream, ganache, modeling in sugar paste and hand-shaped flowers. It then says plainly that because every cake is built this way there is no single fixed price. The cost depends on the complexity of the design, the number of tiers, the finishes and the decorative elements chosen.
The ordering steps and what they cost
The wedding page walks through 5 steps, and it is the part of the site most useful to a couple planning from abroad.
- First contact. You share your date, style, mood, number of guests and inspiration. The page says a simple message is enough, with no obligation, and promises a reply within 48 hours. The quote form further down the same page says "Je vous réponds sous 24h" (I reply within 24 hours). The form asks for name, address, phone number, wedding date, approximate guest count and your wishes, with optional fields for style, colors, approximate budget and preferred flavors.
- Design. If you want a design drawn entirely by hand, a design contribution of 10% of the estimated quote is charged. It covers the technical sketch, proposals for materials and colors, and the exchanges until approval, and the page says it is deducted in full from the final invoice.
- Tasting. A tasting box costs CHF 60 and holds 4 flavors of your choice, by appointment. For cakes from 500 francs, that amount is offered, meaning it is deducted from the final price.
- Confirmation. Once design and flavors are approved, a deposit of 50% of the total, after deducting the design and tasting amounts already paid, confirms the order and fixes the date. The balance is due on delivery.
- Delivery and installation. The cake is made in the days before the wedding. It can be collected from the studio, but for any wedding piece the page strongly recommends delivery; the studio transports it, installs it and checks everything on site. Delivery is charged at CHF 1 per kilometer, round trip from the studio.
Points the site leaves open
A few things are unclear or inconsistent across the two pages, and a couple should settle them in writing.
- Lead time. The homepage says "Places limitées · Min. 3 semaine à l'avance" (limited places, at least 3 weeks ahead) and, in its general ordering section, gives booking at 2 to 4 weeks ahead. The wedding page gives no lead time of its own. For a wedding date, asking early is the safer course.
- Deposit. The homepage's general ordering steps give a 30% deposit, while the wedding page gives 50%. The wedding page is the one written for wedding cakes, but the figure is worth confirming.
- Delivery area. The homepage names the region as Fribourg, Vaud and Broye and says delivery is subject to availability in the region. The site does not say whether it delivers further afield.
- Dietary options. The FAQ lists the question whether gluten-free or lactose-free options are offered, but the answer is not shown on the page, so a couple with guests on those diets has to ask.
- Language. The site is written in French, with a few English headings. It does not say whether consultations can be held in English.
- Prices. Apart from the tasting and delivery charges, no prices are published; the FAQ repeats that a personalized quote follows each request.
Contact runs through the quote form, WhatsApp, Instagram or Facebook, according to the site. No email address or phone number is printed on the two pages.
Who it suits
La Framboésie suits a couple marrying in the Fribourg, Vaud or Broye area who wants a decorated tiered cake designed around their wedding rather than chosen from a catalog, and who likes knowing the process and some of the costs before the first message. The transparent steps (design fee credited back, tasting credited back from 500 francs, delivery priced per kilometer) make budgeting easier than with makers who publish nothing.
The caveats are practical. It is a small studio with limited places, the site is in French, and the delivery area is regional. A couple marrying elsewhere in Switzerland, or one who needs a cake quickly, should confirm availability, distance and language in the first exchange.
